Hello, I wanted to ask how did you made the scabbards for regular silver sword look like that (for example 3:33) - mine are just wierdish brown and yours are lookin great
just install mods 5 & 6 from the description and you'll get the same
I have installed the mods but the scabbards are looking differently than yours... Perhapse you use older version of those mods?

In 2007 I was 17 years old. I thought life was hard so I found escapism in this land. I'm Slavic so the world of Witcher felt very familiar...a familiar place to escape to. It was the parallel universe in which fairytales my grandmother told me existed in but with a slightly more grown up twist to it. I swear when the music and the sound effects kicked in I could smell the mold growing on the walls in the halls of Kaer Morhen because I've smelled it in our real life crumbling fortresses. I could hear the wind howl through the arrow slits because I've heard that. I could feel the warmth of the fireplace in the grand hall. And that is something no other game has accomplished at that time. I was physically there, years passed I played the rest of the Witcher games and they were all brilliant in their own right, but that musty feeling, that sensation of your lungs heavy with the virtual smell of the air in the aforementioned halls, that was reserved for the first one. Now I'm 29, I've got a family and I know that back then life wasn't really hard and in fact it was pretty good. For all those years I've avoided The Witcher (1) because I didn't want to ruin...the feeling I've had of it, that feeling of youth and innocence. But I actually clicked on the wolf medallion icon and I was greeted by the all too familiar bell toll of the launcher menu. And what would you know, the smell of the mold was there, the chill of the wind was there, the warmth of the fireplace was there. I am now a grown man being immersed in this world that existed 12 years ago, and if you ask me it's a world that has always existed. If a game could do that to me after being spoiled for 12 years by graphical and storytelling brilliance by other titles, that means that the said game was really something special. Hats down CDPR, hats down...

I played the witcher games backwards (3,2,1) and I was so amazed by how immersed I was in The Witcher 1. The atmosphere and soundtrack of this game is stellar.

I played Witcher 1 in 2016 (before playing II and III) and I have to say it's my most favorite among the three. The music and atmosphere is the best.
I remember trying to install and play this back in 2008 in my father's laptop, yet it didn't run. Then in finally had a gaming pc back in 2011, installed this with a couple of mods and never actually played it. Only got to beat the game one year prior to the witcher 3 release, lol.
This game is a perfect example of atmosphere done right.
Minus the weird combat. The witcher 1 was well done.

Atmosphere and alchemy. Those are the two things that is still the best in the first game. Everything else got improved with each installment, but the atmosphere of the first game is still untouched.

Of all three Witcher games, I think this one has by far the most unique and extraordinary flavor to it. A very special game indeed. Pure passion.

I suggest the game to many people still. Many of them are like "damn the combat is too clunky I wont play this"... But you need to give it some time, grow into it and play for the story and atmosphere.

The Witcher 1 had the most similar feel to Sapkowski's short story books.
Also it reminds me of beatiful nature paintings of artists back in the 18th and 19th century.

@@wrathofthewitchqueen depends on the perspective, I loved the storytelling of the Wyzima outskirt, the realization that humans are the monsters and even the fight with a Wild Hunt in the basement of one of the houses there. (also in the night it was super scary to me, I loved it)
The swamp was annoying for me, but that is what I eventually loved about it, imagine fucking living in that dumb... I mean, the place, it had even it's own odor of distaste, maybe developers wanted to convey the message, that we as a players shouldn't like the atmosphere there, you know.

I think Witcher 1 is better in atmosphere among all 3 games by a huge margin. The locations are perfect and there are no words to describe how good the soundtrack is.
Even the story and choices given are better in terms of difficulty of choosing the better way.

I don't know, guys, but sometimes i prefer The Witcher 1 over TW2 and TW3! The essence of this game feels so pure and real.

Found out this underrated masterpiece. Thank god I didn't drop it before I got kinda used to the awful combat system, because everthing else (even somehow the graphics, with mods to get it to look like this) makes it worth it.
can't get used to combat system.. throws me out of the story like im playing an arcade game :( never played it but read a lot of reference and know that it's filled with rich story and desperately want to play it... ihope there will be a remake orsomething once

The environments and atmosphere of all 3 of these games is just top notch.
Just the music is enough to bring back all the amazing memories
This game needs no remake or remaster. The witcher1 is a great game by itself. It aged very well. The graphics still looks ok, thanks to the visual artists. And some gameplay features and mechanics are much much better than in the witcher3, such as meditation; alchemy; economic system; looting system; rpg system and talents; learning a great deal of new attack techniques and combat animations through the talents; non-bottomless inventory (so you can't carry 20 bandit swords and 10 bandit armors, you only carry your own armor and 2 swords and don't change your sword to the one with better stats every 10 mins you found on random enemies); simulation of the living world and npc's around you; Geralt being drunk, the change of day and night. Everything listed above is made much better in the witcher1 than in the witcher3. And the unique atmosphere it has, among other things. Don't get me wrong, i love the witcher3, i believe it is the best game ever made so far. But the first witcher is a true lore-friendly witcher with a deep and unique approach. It is a high class and iconic RPG. And look at this beautiful watercolor arts on the loading screens..
This game needs no remake and even no remaster. Everything will be lost in the process. Even the witcher2 needs remake more than a first game.
P.S. You should play it in isometric view, not 3rd person.
No. The graphics look like shit, it's common knowledge basically that this is one of the more extreme examples where the game doesn't age well. Mostly the gameplay is much worse than Witcher 3. "Learning a great deal of new attack techniques and combat animations trough talents" What? There is NO combat basically. Also you do not change sword every 10 minutes but literally 5-6 times in the whole Witcher 3 game, just like armor. "Geralt being drunk" the fuck are you talking about? In Witcher 3 we had multiple such scenes and they are done much better than in first game. English voice acting was also incredibly bad in Witcher 1, and audio quality is painful pretty much, voices are literally distorted a bit. It's literally the OPPOSITE for every single thing you said. Nothing would be lost in process.
I know I'm replying late, but a remake will make the game more accessible to more players. A remake will open another door for players new to the Witcher without the nightmare of the dated combat system.
So I do think the game can use (not need) a remake for new players. Besides if you prefer the way the game is, you don't have to play the remake.
I started playing this game about a month ago (prior the release of the Netflix series), and so far it's extremely immersive. Really can't wait to read the novels and play the later games, as it's the kind of universe I've been waiting to explore for a long time.
Witcher 1,2 and 3 are perfect portrait of witchers' world. Each one of them irreplaceable, masterpiece in its own right.
the funny thing is that writer of the witcher book hates all the games and when asked if he knows any people playing witcher games he replied "not many, I'd rather spend my time with intelligent people".

I love the unique magic feel older games can have. thos graphics are not perfect or realistic this can also create special atmosphere, and Witcher 1 had AMAZING atmosphere. If you love Witcher and you still didn't play all three games in order and immersed yourself into lore, you are missing out.

TeskaKategorija there's no open world like in TW1, so you can't do much free roam in there. but, yes, there are some monsters to fight like wyverns, drowners or ghosts

Mouse mashing was kind of weird decision, but leveling up, alchemy and overall feeling of getting better was great. Seems like only people who had problem with that, are Witcher 3-2 players.
Yup the setting for witcher 1 was completely different from the 3rd installment it was dark and gritty and personally I enjoyed the combat system more in 1 it made me feel like a witcher

If they remastered Witcher 1 and 2, I would be forever grateful. I just recently experienced Witcher 3 on my new PC and downloaded the first two immediately after. It's great, think I spent around 30-40 bucks getting all three with the DLCs. As much as I'm going to delve into the other two, I would certainly hold my breath and wait if they even hinted at remastering them. Witcher 3 was on sale and was kind of waved in front of me by steam, so it turned into a "Meh, I'm bored" buy. It's a shame I overlooked this series until now.
Cyberpunk will definitely be a day one for me. CD Projekt Red has left an impression on me and my wallet for sure.
That's exactly what happened. They just said "Oh, get this game it's on sale" and I was like "Hmm, good graphics, I'm bored. Let's try"

@@jaztin7197 Guys, once you get passed some of the basic stuff in Witcher 1 it's fine. Honestly doesn't need a remaster unless it's a full remake. Which, yes I would absolutely kill for a complete remake.
i don't care what anyone says. The Witcher 1 is the best game in the series. I actually love the combat style, it is much more strategic and rewarding than the next 2 games. This was a time when games were designed for a specific audience to fill a niche and not trying to appeal to the demand of other whims and demographics. As soon as I started up the second game on PC I understood that it was a poor attempt to appeal to the console market and that they threw the amazing PC controls and interface from the first game out the window. Especially the story telling.
Still the best Witcher imo.

Hey I've heard people saying that these mods make the colors look washed out and not as vibrant compered to the original. Is that true? I've never actually played the original witcher 1 so I have no clue if the game does look and feel better atmospherically with the mods installed... I don't even play the Witcher games for game play, if I want badass game play I'll go grind Darksouls 3, but if I want atmosphere I play any of the trilogy. Played them all and 3 is still my favorite, by a mile
This video convinced me to play Witcher 1 with mods. Unmodded....no way. Graphics are not the most important thing, but there are limits. Too dated. But with these mods...oh boy, I want to play it!!!! Have played Witcher 3 and am currently reading the books, too.
If there will be no witcher4, there should be a Witcher1 Remastered with the use of witcher3 engine, all its character designs, graphics and all.

the Full Combat Rebalance (difficulty and balance redesign) can mess with your Scabbard Mod (adds sheaths to swords) if you dont choose the right MODE once installing the Scabbard MOD ---> EE (Enhanced without mods) Fcr (Enhanced with Full Combat Rebalance mod) Flash ( if you play with witchers flash s mod). Anyhow, i experienced some combat issues EVEN with the proper Version installed so i made a fresh download of the Game with no FCR at all. Its working well since then.

actually, it makes combats harder and much harder. but I personally don't recommend to install it, cause the balance is really broken in some parts of the game. I even had to uninstall it several times so to pass some fights and then install again.. but it has one important feature - it allows to turn off the hud. and this video has become possible thanks to this mod
@@ExtremeGamingHD3D I remember trying that type of mod for Witcher 2 and it also made some part impossible to finish for me, except I couldn't uninstall it and continue because modded saves were not compatible with vanilla so I had to abandon the playthrough. I'm currently going through the books, in the middle of last book at the moment and next I'm planning to replay this game. There's no way I would touch that Rebalance mod. Although I will try the visual mods, thanks for the list.

Picked up all 3 games on sale, at first glance withcer 1 hasnt aged well and the combat is pretty simple. But something about it keeps me playing; 8 hours on the first day lol

Yes, I'm again finished first Witcher yesterday, but you need little patience for his combat system
The witcher one is a shitshow but I still love it. It has horrible pacing problems, the performance is crap and the game looks like ass for the most part, although there are some really pretty scenes, specially in chapter 4 (this video is a mod). That said, the game itself is a master piece, the dialogue is great and the story hooks you in and doesn't let go. The music is also phenomal, I still listen to it to this day, way better than Witcher 2 and 3 in that regard. It's constantly forcing you to make moral decisions and it reallyd does put you in Geralt's shoes. The potion system is great too, you have to buy books in order to learn recipes for new potions, and then go and harvest plants that have specific ingredients to make those potions, and then you drink them and they apply you an effect that lasts 8 hours! That's because you are meant to prepare for battles. If you are in a zone where you know there's lots of drowned, well, drink a potion that will help you with them. You can read their bestiary entries to know what works and what doesn't. Anyway, play this game, you need to be patient, but play it, you are making yourself a favor.
Witcher 2 on the other hand... is the weaker of the three I'd say. It looks gorgeous and the combat was vastly improved. The story is still good, but it makes a lot of assumptions. It's hard to follow at times and you may not know exactly what's happening at any given time. It's still fun to play, but it's way more restricted compared to Witcher 1. In the Witcher 1 you are thrown into a large map that it's yours to explore, in the Witcher 2 it's somewhat like that, only that the map is a linear hallway. It's sad but that's how it is. It's still worth it to play it, it's not a bad game at all, but I liked Witcher 1 the most.

Witcher 1 best witcher game. I just finish it once again and started 2 and someting is so missing. The connection and the deep story may be and mostly the philosophical meaning deep inside the story.
What Witcher 1 needs is an complete character overhaul. I mean the npcs not just the main ones and clothes.
