Sup mate. So I have not played with 5.5 yet but sounds like the same problem in 5.4 . If there is nothing there just add it in the sequencer. Add the body from the plus symbol next to the MH and then from the body, Add the rig. Should work just fine. Let me know.

when I add the rig it looks great and I pose my character but then when I click off the rig onto something else the rig disappears and I can't seem to get it back

Hi and hey :) So it has a lot to Do with your machine specs. It needs a monster graphics card to run smooth or use a really low res character and turn off the hair . As far as the flat lighting look at the top left hand of the viewport where the scene is . You’ll see some drop down menus. There should be one saying lit. Click this and change it to unlit. I hope this helps and shout of you have more questions :)
Yeeess but not really. Ive been meaning to get out a tutorial on just that. Animating a meta human from scratch... Ill have one out hopefully in the near future:) Dont give up. Animation is such an art. Study the human in the meantime and we will cover this:) Push boundaries and don't give up. Ill show a nice way of also using free mocap and adjusting it the way you want it.
You can add it to the sequence the BP. Then add the Character in the BP , Add the body and hear or either and add a rig. You can then animate as you like. Also dont forget you can Convert to animation clips and back again:)
can u use ue4 or 5 mannequin animations on uefn mannequin? that came out with the project? also have u ever animated in blender ? i have a huge issue here, in blender when u use rotation u an rotate any angle, in unreal it is axes by axes that feels weird
Hey mate :) yes you can use any animations on any other rig. You just need to retarget them. I got tutorials on both but ue 5.4 is a breeze. Check out my build this now series first vid. As far as blender and ue go. The rotation. In ue 5.4 you can set that gizmo to work like blender or Maya. Forgot what it’s called but look up gizmo for animation settings in ue 5.4 . I’ll do a quick tutorial on this but you can find it fast:) hope this helps :)
Hey mate. If you only seeing some controls it could be something wrong with the install.. Add your character to a sequence and delete the control rig if you see it. If not then you should see head and body. On each hit the plus button and add the head rig to the head and the body rig to the body. Let me now if that helps:)

@@yashicaputhraan5785 Could be a bad install guys. As soon as you bring it in Sequencer you should have a dead/face rig and a body rig. If its not showing up make sure your importing the right metahuman version for your UE version. So when creating the MH on site make sure its for 5.4 if your using 5.4. Otherwise sounds like a bad install. delete MH and install it again.

Than you for this video, i have always been scared of going into animation in unreal because of the interface. i would like to ask if in blender, my workflow is pose to pose animation ( Blocking) before moving to spline. is there a way to do that in unreal engine
So you have a level sequencer ? And you added the metahuman.? Did you follow the steps one for one. When the metahuman in in sequencer when you open it up in sequencer do you see the words face rig and body rig ? Let me know and we can try work it out
Thank you for the tutorial! So I did all this, have my 2 meta characters in the level sequencer. Now I saved it yesterday and when opened it today, I don't see the rigs any more.. how do you show the rigs again?
Hey glad it helped. Yes they don't show until you open the sequencer and click on the face rig or body rig. Open the arrows on them once and see the rig and highlight it in the sequencer and you'll see the rigs again:)
@@imagineeverything OK, I didn't have any animation at that time.. so I had to delete the character from the sequencer and import again. Then the rig was visible. Now after I got some keyframes I followed what you said and somehow the rig appeared. It is soooo not user friendly software. I think even Epic games when they advertised some animator positions wrote: need to be able to animate in Maya and export the animation to Unreal. This tells a lot about animation capabilities of Unreal engine. Thanks! I think I'll do my anim in maya and export to unreal.
Ha actually animation in ue. 5 is pretty good. I’m also a maya animator but lately using more and more unreal:) give it a go and get used to it. Ue has become really powerful:) ok have fun and a good night mate :)
@@damnilfx1 Hello mate:) We have had this issue before here. It was because it was a bad install. you need to delete all MH and then reinstall it. Sometimes it installs badly in alot of cases. Try that and let me know:)

I followed the steps precisely, but the control rig did not appear in the viewport. How do I make it visible? Any ideas as to why it might be missing in the first place? I do see the words Face Rig and Body Rig in the sequencer, BTW. It says: MetaHuman_CtrlRig and Face_ControlBoard_CtrlRig

Hello, fascinating video and software. I do not work with 3D animation but have always followed its progress. It seems like too many things to change to be productive. All of the keyframes needed for body and facial expression would keep one very busy for only a few seconds of video. Are there affordable tools like gloves or hardware that take input so some human acting can be translated? I know there are at the upper industry levels but for home use? Thanks!
Hey mate :) so actually animating the human can be quick. Meaning if you have automatic keyframing you just need to move using ik and you can be fast. However yes animation takes time. There are a few good mocap suites out there for home . I use the Rokoko suite. It’s cheap and pretty damn good and does full body including hands and face gear . Around 4-5 k which is alot but cheap for what it does. Then there is the xsence for around 20k which is alot more accurate but damn . The price :) there a few hack ones you can create for home but it will take the know how and work to put it all together and work. I recommend the Rokoko as it’s quick to setup, gives decent result with a bit of cleanup and does not break bank:) hope this helps . And yea you can use it for metahuman or any other program to:)

great now i can make my movie where people dont walk run swim or move their center of gravity at all! most people are seated or standing with their legs either firmly planted or on one leg like a flamingo. why spend 10 out of 20 minutes on face animation when everyone is just gonna use their phone. such a waste of time without covering the most confusing parts of animation for beginners. everything i learned from this video couldve learned the same amount just stumbling around sequencer animator

Now the thing is, when you add lip sync animation, you have to delete the facerig, right? so how do you move the head when its deleted?

i use my BP_Cooper as my player it runs movement script and stuff so how could i get around this to make a cntrl rig for my metahuman which is cooper

Right click in your content browser . Under cinematic you’ll see level sequencer. Make on and drag into your scene :)

for some reason, my hair does not follow my head, but remains in place. I move my head and they just hang in the air in the same place
Are you moving them via the rig ? Or just moving the metahuman around. Only works through the rig

Hello, fascinating video and software. I do not work with 3D animation but have always followed its progress. It seems like too many things to change to be productive. All of the keyframes needed for body and facial expression would keep one very busy for only a few seconds of video. Are there affordable tools like gloves or hardware that take input so some human acting can be translated? I know there are at the upper industry levels but for home use? Thanks!
Hey mate :) so actually animating the human can be quick. Meaning if you have automatic keyframing you just need to move using ik and you can be fast. However yes animation takes time. There are a few good mocap suites out there for home . I use the Rokoko suite. It’s cheap and pretty damn good and does full body including hands and face gear . Around 4-5 k which is alot but cheap for what it does. Then there is the xsence for around 20k which is alot more accurate but damn . The price :) there a few hack ones you can create for home but it will take the know how and work to put it all together and work. I recommend the Rokoko as it’s quick to setup, gives decent result with a bit of cleanup and does not break bank:) hope this helps . And yea you can use it for metahuman or any other program to:)

great now i can make my movie where people dont walk run swim or move their center of gravity at all! most people are seated or standing with their legs either firmly planted or on one leg like a flamingo. why spend 10 out of 20 minutes on face animation when everyone is just gonna use their phone. such a waste of time without covering the most confusing parts of animation for beginners. everything i learned from this video couldve learned the same amount just stumbling around sequencer animator
