Just binged watched your whole project & am very impressed with your knowledge & abilities! I converted a conondale mountain bike last year. MXUS 3k hub motor, sabvoton 100 amp & I made my 20s 11p battery pack & of course the ANT bms which as you say is a fantastic bit of kit! Looks like you enjoyed your project as much as I have. & you’re right, the feeling of silent torque is difficult to explain to a non ebiker! Look forward to another video 👍🏼
Congrats. It's time after 10 months. I'm towards construction. 72v 35ah sabvoton 72200. All the pieces have arrived. Currently building the batery. I have a question about electricity. Where to place the main fuse (225a). Whether between the battery and the controller or between the controller and the motor. Is there a need for extra fuse in another location... thanks
If you have one, I would include it. Definitely put it between the battery and the controller so it completely cuts off power to the bike. All the best with your build😁
Top speed run please! Also if voltage difference across cells is increasing check the parallel connection on the bank that is lower and it should stop the beeping 👍
One day when it's finished I'm sure! (If I have the balls to go 45mph+😂). I think the bms issue is linked to the parallel connections where the lugs join the cells but still working on it.
have you thought about raising the voltage latter to the 72 volt or 84 nominal, i built a custom bike for a guy at 72 volt with 150 amp sabvoton on rear motor and 45 amp sabvoton on front with cycle analyst v3 custom firmware controlling trottle management etc, the front works on timed boost type setup for accelaration from start or when needed,no word of a lie in excess of 100kms perhour with crystalyte 5000 series motor rearand rewound bafang front motor, previously a 500watt unit,
Not going to upgrade this bike, I've put as many cells as I can in and wired it up and am NOT doing that again 😂 Helping a chap whose managed to squeeze 40 in with some slight mods so it is possible with these cells. Briefly thought about dual motors but the lack of traction (and cost) put me off. Fair enough if you got it working though!
Your build is awesome mate. Holy shit! amazing! One more thing. if you are going to ride on pavement most of the time, Those knobs tires are no good for pavement. I recommend Maxxis Hookworm double layer. Make sure you get the double layer because there are a few different versions. I have a few questions, maybe you can help me. How are you going to setup the turn signals? Why did you choose such a low voltage for your build? What is the total weight of the bike finished? Thanks for your time and keep going!
Cheers mate! I'll be on the road all the time so I'll get some 19" motorbike tyres. Ok questions... 1. for the rear, I have a bracket that attaches to the seat to space them apart and I'll use an arduino and some MOSFETs to control the timing 2. I could only fit 28 cells in the frame, so I could either have a 24s pack (max of my BMS) with 100a continuous current and ~20 miles range or a 14s pack with 200a continuous current and ~40 miles of range. I wanted more range and the power levels work out to around the same anyway with the 100a limit. 3. Weight will be around 50-55kg i reckon. Motor is 12kg, batteries are 14kg, frame is ~17kg
very nice turn out thay are great machines im just about finished with mine im having battery problems you would think brand new thay would be all the same voltage..i learned dont assume!!!! lg HG2 800bucks worth unballanceed 72V 20S 13PBATTERY .. 160DOLLAR BMS WONT LET ANY POWER THRU.so i got a bunch of those smip08 batterys on the way and ill hook up leads that came w/china bms but mite not use bms.Im new to this everything is a first for me with e bikesso i have two power soreses im going to get both working soon enough.GOOD LUCK WEAR YOUR GEAR IT IS NOT COOL TO SUCK JELLO THRU A STRAW OR WORSE BE DEAD!!Anyway grate job and thanks for the INFO it was helpfull . LONG ISLAND N.Y. DENYS
Hi mate, glad to hear you're building one too!. Generally good suppliers will balance the cells but HG2 cells aren't cheap or low quality so that's very poor that the BMS won't turn on because of that! (Is that what you meant?) Are you using the same BMS as be because even if the cells are wildly out, you could connect one series line at a time and balance them all out but if you've spot welded it together, that won't be easy! Happy to help!
Yeah man you hit the nail right on the head BMS is not letting any power through that's a saying that I saw you get those Leaf cells along with a couple of others on TH-cam that's what decided me to buy some especially since they're getting real hard to find right now if you've noticed for me anyway I was going to battery hookup and they sold out got lucky found a guy on eBay selling a pack of 72 and a pack of 144 what do you think of those batteries I was reading their 40 times the strength of an 18 650 cell 8 Amp hours each that would mean it as 72 battery 20 of them that's a hundred and sixty and Power that's crazy you should be getting some sick power as a matter of fact FedEx just met me an email my battery on the truck and being delivered awesome do you have any good ideas let me know this will be my second battery build although I'm really thinking I might not use BMS because of all the problems this one is giving me with my hg2 cells I'llleave+ -- lead wires to each cell if I have to balance good luck with yours ride safe bro Dennis
Think it's to do with the lugs making contact with one cells and not both at the module joints. Some rethinking required! Saving up for the wheels and suspension

@EverythingEbikeChannel what's the best settings for 150 amp sabvotron

Thanx. Best regards
How is the motor cycle seat comfort wise? Is it comfortable for long distance rides? And would you prefer it over a regular bicycle seat?
Seems pretty nice so far. Deffo better than a bike seat and looks much better!

@@EverythingEbikeChannel thanks for taking the time to answer me. I will keep watching closely your videos. All the best. Cheers
Best ebike build on TH-cam.
cheers 😁

Hopefully the leaf cells will be good as they were designed purely for ev purposes. Enjoy the power when you get there!
What did the Parts Cost in total?
Haven't finished building yet, but I'll do a video on that once it's done (Clue - a fair bit!)
Nice mate did find out what the beeping was
Not yet, I'll have a look next weekend.
How's the build comming on

@@EverythingEbikeChannel nice iv got 18in moto wheels with off road tyres and had the wheels powder coated candy purple
Looks good camron
cheers 😁
👍👍
😁
Can you design bms from scratch instead of buying from china
It's possible in theory but probably not cost effective and very hard! Check out this video th-cam.com/video/rT-1gvkFj60/w-d-xo.html
I got 19 inch moto wheels w dnm suspension definitely a game changer for a ebike like this they aint that expensive on enduroebike.com
Yh they have some good stuff on their store. Good to hear you like the dnm forks
