Seeing the older couples dancing at Carnation Plaza Gardens made me tear up. People would never do that nowadays, It's such an interesting look at our past. PEOPLE USED TO GO DANCING!
This was the year my husband surprised me with a week at the Disneyland Hotel . We had just purchased a Sony handycam, and brought with us. Something was wrong, and everything we videoed was damaged. We only got our pictures. Thanks for letting me relive that time with your video!
June of 2023 was my first time back to Disneyland since I was a teenager in 1997. I told my husband that I remember Disneyland being more magical in the 90's (ESPECIALLY the Disneyland hotel), but maybe it was because I was a kid then. But after seeing this video... YUP! It was definitely more magical back then. Thanks for sharing this nostalgia 😢❤
Lolol! Exactly, no Vloggers staggering around and social media zombies staring at their phones. These were the last best years at Disneyland!!! Thanks Michael for this. The resolution was really good. What camera was it? You even got an opening bit of the fanous Disneyland bandleader who was there for years!! Too cool.
I just saw one on 1987 in Disneyland. It’s nuts how much better the video quality I from the 87 to the 97 video. And to think our cell phone cameras blow them all away. Tech is so cool…
Yeah, video cams and quality have really progressed to the point that I now get better pictures from I iPhone than I did with a heavy consumer video camcorder. And now even in 3D!
Videos like this makes me wish time travel was real. Imagine a Disneyland with no Star Wars or Marvel characters to distract from Walt's greatest works.
My thoughts exactly. While Disneyland is still amazing, it lacks thematic cohesion and is just an IP dumping ground at this point. Newer additions lack the artful sophistication of classic imagineering.
Disneyland was Joy back then. Disneyland is my idea of Hell now. The very concept of having to use an app to gain some sort of Leverage to get on a ride at a place that costs on appalling amount of money surrounded by Karen's and suburbanites makes me feel sick. Nice to see it for what it was but will never be again.
yep these were the last best years of Disneyland when it was still pure and fun and uncluttered by Vloggers and agendas and political correctedness. No apps and social media mania. Just fun.
When management went from the original artists and entertainers to investment bankers and private equity pirates that was the end of the spirit that made Disneyland unique. Now it's not about quality and guest experience but all about upping profits to the breaking point.

Instead it’s tight crowds looking on phones to book their next rides and recording videos
16:54 The Hunchback of Notre Dame Festival of Fools show my favorite Disney movie. This was at the park the year I was born in 1997.

So glad I could help bring back Disneyland memories.
Ahhh no vloggers or grifters in sight
😂
No cellphones. Everyone in the moment.

It wasn't you, it has changed pretty radically into something not as guest friendly.

44:12 is probably the closest I’ll ever get seeing the inside of The Spirit of Pocahontas shop which is now Pioneer Mercantile.
I can still smell the leather! lol 😊

Thank you for sharing this!! Wow! Can’t believe soooooo much has changed!! Some of the things I don’t even remember 😂! Great video!! 💕👏👏👏👏👏.
You are so welcome!
I remember being a child watching those dancers with my Mom. Amazing time capsule
Nobody staring at their cell phones. Everyone looking up and around and at each other.
And now they force you to use your phone to do what they used to provide.
@@michaelsiebielec5554 it's unfortunate indeed.
The good old day

There's literally a clip from Star Tours in this video.
