My Tenways electric bike arrived 4 days ago and I am enjoying riding it. I got the bike after watching your TH-cam video. This is my first electric bike and the torque sensor works like magic. The customer service is really good. I would have liked a removable battery for ease of use but I guess it wound my fit with design. I got the stands and mudguards for free. I am really impressed with the look and feel and hoping to take it for longer rides.
Lovely well informed technical review with good accurate information unlike some. I have a similar Gtech sport which I have uprated and sold the standard parts so it has cost nothing to do and it has transformed its usability.
I've had one since October, great bike for my commute to work. Its not designed to climb steep hills but you get them with some effort. The torque sensor is brilliant, it makes you feel like your legs are supercharged and its really smooth. One important bit is that the support is superb, extremely responsive and very helpful
I do 70+ mile bike rides on a regular mountain bike with my cousins, and my uncle wants to come with us. Is there an E bike we can get him that would not cost too much that can do 70 miles?
What are your thoughts on how it handles big and steep hills? I love the idea of not having to perpetually switch gears, but I live in New England where two separate mountain ranges nearly converge. So “hilly” is understated. I’ve gotten my analog road bike up to 40 mph coasting down one of the hills on my commute to work, but the slog home is arduous. Could the single gear torque sensing bike work for me?
@@jennamac1704 Its still going to require effort. maybe less than normal bike with the motor assistance. considering also a normal bike weighs 2/3 stone VS this 16 stone bike (not much for an e bike but still considerable. if hills are common and often steep i would consider an e bike with a range of gears
Ya probably worry about that pants hidden battery and I doubt that belt wud last longer than a chain from new plus don't stop it from wear and tare or slipping...... It wud kill it up hills 🤣

@@davey2k12 belt lasts 18000 miles, battery of course not. The battery is easily removed to install in future a new one. Also is easy to remove speed limit, making this a fabulous commute bike... (same kind of belts last years and years in cars, why not in a bike?)
Buses can be fun. Newport Beach California a few years ago and a bus pulled up next to me just like yours. Almost squeezed into the curb before I took evasive action. Was able to get over to the drivers side, rode up to the front, right next to the driver, and slugged the bus as hard as I could. Made an awesome thump and he slammed on his brakes. I just kept on going with a huge smile. Buses can be fun =:)
Thanks for sharing! Looks like a nice bike. Range estimates from the manufacturer are always just that, estimates. One rider might do 50km and use 10 percent of the battery power. Another might do the same distance but use 90 percent. Just too many variables. Rider weight, rider clothing, backpacks and panniers or lack thereof, tyre pressure, wind, rain, road surface, hills, assistance level, speed of riding, etc, etc, etc...
Very nicely done in review! I ride a Specialized Turbo Vado SL 4.0 which seems to be a very similar type bike without the Gates carbon belt and rear hub motor. A fantastic bike for those of us looking to get a more fitness oriented bike along with a bit of help when needed. Happy to hear that bus didn't get the best or you!
This Tenways CGo600 surely has a lot going for it, the rear motor setup being one of them and of course the Gates belt drive. Maybe you could put it in a head-to-head test with the Ostrichoo Zeno, also a Dutch e-bike with a rear motor. Its party piece being a supercapacitor instead of a lithium-ion battery, which means it only takes 30 minutes to charge fully. As always watching this review was fun, looking forward to more e-bikes tested in the real world
Supercaps sounds really a good idea! Ideal for city commuting. Probalby a scalable battery pack is the king: when you commute use the small pack, when touring on the weekend use a bigger (or second one) Just like CATL invented for EV cars in China, Choco or Evogo swap system
Thank you for the review, after watching it I decided to buy it. Shipment was very fast, I received it in 2 days. And indeed, it's a real pleasure to ride. Also currently you can get the mudguards and kickstand for free with your order which saved me about 100 euros.
Don't forget the Bike to Work scheme too if at all possible - This ebike looks really nicely designed especially with the Nexus Hub Gears and belt drive. A specialized or Trek equivalent would be over £2K . I would definitely get the mudguards cos it's mostly wet in UK : )
I'm waiting for someone to produce a reasonably lightweight, Fazua-powered e-bike with an 11 speed Alfine rear hub and Gates CDX belt drive. I'm sure it can't be that difficult (as all the tech is already there), but I'm still waiting!....
Just had double knee replacement and am considering an e-bike to help my rehabilitation. Have not ridden a bike for about 20yrs so am a tad apprehensive. However, I would only use on quieter roads in outer London.

Nice review. Great pick for tiny person ....I mean normal ppl and flat area. Like that it has belt drive, hydraulic brakes, hidden battery and even single gear for simplicity. Don't like for me personally, too light weight, not enough power and I need more gears for mountainous area. But it does look like a fantastic bike for many many ppl. Just a counter point, some of us have arthritis and other "light" disabilities that E-bikes with full assist can help on days when pedaling is not so easy. I wish for days when I could leap on a bike with no thought to assistance.
If I was in the market for an e-bike I’d definitely look at this. And you’re right about the cost. If it’s going to be your every day transport instead of buses or trains then it’ll pay for itself after a while. I think they should offer more personalisation with seats and things if you’re spending that much.
Buy the e-scooter instead (Vespa looking type) not those kid skateboard things. They have lock steering with alarm ,weight 200 lbs and hard to steal so you do not have to lock it to a post ever single stop, plus it can carry a lot of stuff without a wearing backpack all the time. And the wide soft seat does not try to impregnate you. Mind does 50 km range on a charge and it goes as fast as a young person on a 10 speed petaling his guts out. I did have to buy the optional $700 20ah LifepO4 battery. Im buying the 30ah next time then im good for 70km. I love mine.

The color is very nice. Where does one procure a MIK compliant back rack that fits the bike and accommodates Basil panniers? And a front rack as well? Is that battery readily available or it proprietary? And where when one buy a second, or replacement battery? Is their service network listed somewhere? Hydraulic brakes are nice.
8:30 if you want a moped disguised as an e bike look into the electric race bikes or gravel bikes, as long as you have drop bars you can ride as fast as you want without cops bothering you.
Looks great. Great review as always. In a hilly terrain like San Francisco, you just need to plan your ride so it’s doable. Put in the work and enjoy the ride!
Everything about the ebike seems perfect. My only question? What happens when, in the future, when the battery needs to be replaced? If it’s sealed in the bike’s tub, how does one get to it?
@@BillOweninOttawa no, you're misinformed. Current batteries last very long time. Other components of the bike will last less in fact. And this bicycle will be more than 90% recycled. Aluminum is literally the most recycled material ever, and lithium and nickel are getting extremely valuable even now, and by then even more so.
This is a great review but, even though I live in NYC, the Tenways bike is a hard sell. Most e-bike shops will not fix a broken e-bike you bought from somewhere else, especially one shipped from Europe. VanMoof has a shop here in NYC and I'd be lucky to have them close by when my bike broke. Elsewhere in the U.S., if your VanMoof is broken you have to ship your bike to VanMoof here in NYC! It's crazy. Just a quick search and you'll find many people who have problems with their VanMoofs. Tenways will have issues and breaks and malfunctions too and you will be screwed. It's just a matter of time.
Seems like a great bike but at 5ft their medium frame is still way too big for me. So yet again another bike that I can’t ride. What a shame that bike manufacturers just leave out so many of us
Lol! I'm two metres tall (nearly 6'7) and 120kg which isn't heavy for my height. I have similar problems from the opposite end of the spectrum. Which means I'd probably get only half the mileage the reviewer did even assuming that the large frame was big enough. Good luck with your search! 🤞
As a creaky old lady I need a bike with a slightly dipped crossbar. I can't swing my leg behind me when I get on. I also need it to travel on rougher cycle paths without the wheels going square like my current manual hybrid gravel bike

Obviously biased towards riding on smooth surfaces, but in that environment, a 15kg bike with those aesthetics and range would seem to be very attractive. I like the idea of dispensing with the chain, though ultimately, a chain can be recycled more easily. Also loved the fact that you were wearing your hi viz and had the lights on throughout the riding sequences lol.

New subscriber here! One little observation; you need to angle your brake levers down so it's more in line with the natural reach of your fingers. This will give you more power and control of your bike as you won't have to reach up and over the levers and have a bad angle for your wrists.
I had a problem which took some time to get resolved in that VAT has to be paid by the receiver on goods shipped into the U.K. their website stated that VAT was pre-paid - but it certainly wasn’t. It was resolved when they gave me a refund for the VAT and I then paid the bill. Took a few iterations with their support though.
Everybody and I mean everybody should get the ergon sc core prime saddle. It's built nith Adidas boost technology and that's exactly what it feels like. Unbelievable comfort.
i can't work on my back, biceps, chest, triceps and shoulders though when using a bike so i'm still gonna need a gym membership, lol. But beside that, sure, got your point, and this e-bicycle is easily one of the sweetest I've ever seen!! Sure 36V and 7ah ain't much cuz you really can't fit much in there buuuuuut, 15kg only an amazing look and like 40/50kms range make it really worth the 1500E! Especially since E-bikes are usually freaking overpriced and easily cost 2-3K!!

What a great video. Firstly, I am pleaed to hear that you are well after the incident wiht the bus as it's great to see you regain your confidence. I loved this video as it was really helpful and very informative. The only information I am unable to gain anywhere is regarding the battery. Can you remove the battery to charge or do you charge directly into the bike? If you can let me know, I would be most grateful!! This bike you cannot remove the battery to charge it, you have to bring the bike inside near to a power point. They have recently added an extra model that costs a bit more CGO800S that has a step-thru frame and the battery on that can be removed for charging.
I have an analog motion AMX which is British designed and has proved to be a great durable smooth bike. It has a separate Panasonic batteries which I like so you can use the bike as non electric. The Tenways looks like it is in a similar vein and can only be a good thing to bring more choice and availabilty at that price level.
this bike does look pretty cool. The range is also acceptable. BUT, I'd much rather have a detachable battery though :/ I'm looking for a bike that I could use to ride to work. I don't want to carry the bike inside (of my home or my office) just to charge it. I'd much rather just take the battery out and bring it in for charging. Plus - that's an addition anti-theft measure (in a way). Another "plus" is that if you need to go for a longer ride - you could always bring an extra battery in your backpack for switching it midway.
How tall are you? Im considering the bike, but I am 5.3 and don’t know if it’ll be a bit big for me. Checked the measurements and they seem alright. I don’t particularly like the new model cause it still looks like an electric.

Carry it upstairs. Do you really want to leave a nice new bike outside for vandals, rain, snow, soot, brain dead clods, critters, ultraviolet and micro-meteorites?
Looks like a good bike, but I wish they do one with a rear suspension one, the roads are terrible where I live and a commuter bike with rear suspension would help prevent a sore back :)
Should you get the chance, give the Raleigh Felix+ a go. Bosch mid motor, Intuvia display, hydraulic discs, lights, mudguards, rack, bell, side stand, rear wheel lock all as standard. Quality build too. Not cheap at around £2,100 but worth considering if you're in the market for one. Just remember E bikes are not built for speed but powered assistance when needed!
@john alexander well not scam but people who dont know 250w battery is by far smallest battery i have seen in a ebike and they promise range that 500w battery hardly can do. also she said se did what ever miles and had 25% battery left. batteries dont like to go beyond that anyway they have cut of so you dont damage the battery. so she had no miles left or they are the ones battery give hardly any power. my bike that has 5 bars when full starts to slow down and not giving any more power when im at 2 bars so i dont drain it too low thats 40% of battery in paper. but people that dont know about that buys these bikes beliving what a pretty girl says .
The Tenways battery does not give up until you have drained the battery and the display literally shuts down. But it can still be ridden. If you need more battery, buy the power bank. If you want more battery in the on board battery, then buy the Pro version. It’s kind of a no brained that you are given a set of features and then you complain that the bike can’t handle more features. Buy the bike that works for you rather than criticizing the bike for what it can do. There are literally 10s of thousands of people who only need a decent commute bike who live in relatively flat areas and who don’t need to travel more than the bike can give them on a return trip.

I like the smart torque sensing to assist, without having to fiddle with settings or switches.
Belt drive must be as quiet as it can get.

I really like how it has no gears and a belt drive. Less maintenance and less to worry about. I love the simplicity of it. 🙂

Apparently people in Yorkshire, all ride E bikes, or at least they're constantly saying "E, bikes are grand".

Bike is amazing. Mine came in back in early January and I loved it so much I ordered a second one for my wife. Awesome bike. Torque sensor makes it.
What height is your wife? I am thinking about a bike for my wife, but she is 166 cm high and I don't know if this size M will fit.

Nice review. Too many steep hills where I live for this bike but I do like it being lightweight for putting it on a bike rack etc... Subbed.

Just had double knee replacement and am considering an e-bike to help my rehabilitation. Have not ridden a bike for about 20yrs so am a tad apprehensive. However, I would only use on quieter roads in outer London.
I will joining my first job soon and this bike could be a great way for me to travel back and forth.

E scooters get approved . Surely they need to get insurance to use the road.
@@neilwiddison6529 I suspect that, if e-scooters ever get approved, there will be an insurance requirement. Although there's currently not an insurance requirement for e-bikes.

Nice review. Great pick for tiny person ....I mean normal ppl and flat area. Like that it has belt drive, hydraulic brakes, hidden battery and even single gear for simplicity. Don't like for me personally, too light weight, not enough power and I need more gears for mountainous area. But it does look like a fantastic bike for many many ppl. Just a counter point, some of us have arthritis and other "light" disabilities that E-bikes with full assist can help on days when pedaling is not so easy. I wish for days when I could leap on a bike with no thought to assistance.

If I was in the market for an e-bike I’d definitely look at this. And you’re right about the cost. If it’s going to be your every day transport instead of buses or trains then it’ll pay for itself after a while. I think they should offer more personalisation with seats and things if you’re spending that much.
Buy the e-scooter instead (Vespa looking type) not those kid skateboard things.
They have lock steering with alarm ,weight 200 lbs and hard to steal so you do not have to lock it to a post ever single stop, plus it can carry a lot of stuff without a wearing backpack all the time.
And the wide soft seat does not try to impregnate you.
Mind does 50 km range on a charge and it goes as fast as a young person on a 10 speed petaling his guts out.
I did have to buy the optional $700 20ah LifepO4 battery. Im buying the 30ah next time then im good for 70km.
I love mine.

The color is very nice. Where does one procure a MIK compliant back rack that fits the bike and accommodates Basil panniers? And a front rack as well? Is that battery readily available or it proprietary? And where when one buy a second, or replacement battery? Is their service network listed somewhere? Hydraulic brakes are nice.

Mine has the same geometry but 48v, rim brake, 600+watts, and uses a triangle bag which allows things to be serviceable
Need to see it on the hills, Islington to Portobello is fairly flat.
8:30 if you want a moped disguised as an e bike look into the electric race bikes or gravel bikes, as long as you have drop bars you can ride as fast as you want without cops bothering you.

Everything about the ebike seems perfect. My only question? What happens when, in the future, when the battery needs to be replaced? If it’s sealed in the bike’s tub, how does one get to it?
In normal circumstances battery will last 5-10 years, at which point I think you're be better off buying a new bicycle with latest tech

@@BillOweninOttawa no, you're misinformed. Current batteries last very long time. Other components of the bike will last less in fact. And this bicycle will be more than 90% recycled. Aluminum is literally the most recycled material ever, and lithium and nickel are getting extremely valuable even now, and by then even more so.
This is a great review but, even though I live in NYC, the Tenways bike is a hard sell. Most e-bike shops will not fix a broken e-bike you bought from somewhere else, especially one shipped from Europe. VanMoof has a shop here in NYC and I'd be lucky to have them close by when my bike broke. Elsewhere in the U.S., if your VanMoof is broken you have to ship your bike to VanMoof here in NYC! It's crazy. Just a quick search and you'll find many people who have problems with their VanMoofs. Tenways will have issues and breaks and malfunctions too and you will be screwed. It's just a matter of time.
Much much better consumer laws in the uk. Also the government will pay towards a bike so knock a third off the price and Also free healthcare

Seems like a great bike but at 5ft their medium frame is still way too big for me. So yet again another bike that I can’t ride. What a shame that bike manufacturers just leave out so many of us
Lol! I'm two metres tall (nearly 6'7) and 120kg which isn't heavy for my height.
I have similar problems from the opposite end of the spectrum.
Which means I'd probably get only half the mileage the reviewer did even assuming that the large frame was big enough.

As a creaky old lady I need a bike with a slightly dipped crossbar. I can't swing my leg behind me when I get on. I also need it to travel on rougher cycle paths without the wheels going square like my current manual hybrid gravel bike
Thanks for your review. It's creative and informative. Looks like a very good option for a commuter. Obviously biased towards riding on smooth surfaces, but in that environment, a 15kg bike with those aesthetics and range would seem to be very attractive. I like the idea of dispensing with the chain, though ultimately, a chain can be recycled more easily. Also loved the fact that you were wearing your hi viz and had the lights on throughout the riding sequences lol.
didnt watch the video but if you think it goes 70km like the say in the website you will be disapointed. 252w battery give you like 15km of range
Lovely bike and a great price. It wouldn't work for me as I'm 155 cm and the bar would be difficult. I live in France and have an 02Feel French electric bike which is also a great bike, perhaps a review on one of them would be good. . Thanks for the review, really enjoyed it.

One little observation; you need to angle your brake levers down so it's more in line with the natural reach of your fingers. This will give you more power and control of your bike as you won't have to reach up and over the levers and have a bad angle for your wrists.

I had a problem which took some time to get resolved in that VAT has to be paid by the receiver on goods shipped into the U.K. their website stated that VAT was pre-paid - but it certainly wasn’t.
It was resolved when they gave me a refund for the VAT and I then paid the bill. Took a few iterations with their support though.
I wanted something with high torque so decided to go with a 500W TSDZ2 and Voodoo Marasa. Doesn't look as stealthy as this one but works great for me.

Everybody and I mean everybody should get the ergon sc core prime saddle. It's built nith Adidas boost technology and that's exactly what it feels like. Unbelievable comfort.
i can't work on my back, biceps, chest, triceps and shoulders though when using a bike so i'm still gonna need a gym membership, lol. But beside that, sure, got your point, and this e-bicycle is easily one of the sweetest I've ever seen!! Sure 36V and 7ah ain't much cuz you really can't fit much in there buuuuuut, 15kg only an amazing look and like 40/50kms range make it really worth the 1500E! Especially since E-bikes are usually freaking overpriced and easily cost 2-3K!!

This bike you cannot remove the battery to charge it, you have to bring the bike inside near to a power point. They have recently added an extra model that costs a bit more CGO800S that has a step-thru frame and the battery on that can be removed for charging.
In the US we have Ride1Up’d V2 bike which seems very equivalent to this Tenways
My getech is only 16kg with a belt drive also, that’s a nice looking bike

Yes the battery is removable, but it takes a little skil. You can unscrew is from the bottom (by the crank) and pull it out and swap it for a new one.
I have an analog motion AMX which is British designed and has proved to be a great durable smooth bike. It has a separate Panasonic batteries which I like so you can use the bike as non electric. The Tenways looks like it is in a similar vein and can only be a good thing to bring more choice and availabilty at that price level.

this bike does look pretty cool. The range is also acceptable. BUT, I'd much rather have a detachable battery though :/ I'm looking for a bike that I could use to ride to work. I don't want to carry the bike inside (of my home or my office) just to charge it. I'd much rather just take the battery out and bring it in for charging. Plus - that's an addition anti-theft measure (in a way). Another "plus" is that if you need to go for a longer ride - you could always bring an extra battery in your backpack for switching it midway.
How tall are you? Im considering the bike, but I am 5.3 and don’t know if it’ll be a bit big for me. Checked the measurements and they seem alright. I don’t particularly like the new model cause it still looks like an electric.

Looks like a good bike, but I wish they do one with a rear suspension one, the roads are terrible where I live and a commuter bike with rear suspension would help prevent a sore back :)

Should you get the chance, give the Raleigh Felix+ a go. Bosch mid motor, Intuvia display, hydraulic discs, lights, mudguards, rack, bell, side stand, rear wheel lock all as standard. Quality build too. Not cheap at around £2,100 but worth considering if you're in the market for one. Just remember E bikes are not built for speed but powered assistance when needed!

@john alexander well not scam but people who dont know 250w battery is by far smallest battery i have seen in a ebike and they promise range that 500w battery hardly can do. also she said se did what ever miles and had 25% battery left. batteries dont like to go beyond that anyway they have cut of so you dont damage the battery. so she had no miles left or they are the ones battery give hardly any power. my bike that has 5 bars when full starts to slow down and not giving any more power when im at 2 bars so i dont drain it too low thats 40% of battery in paper. but people that dont know about that buys these bikes beliving what a pretty girl says .
The Tenways battery does not give up until you have drained the battery and the display literally shuts down. But it can still be ridden. If you need more battery, buy the power bank. If you want more battery in the on board battery, then buy the Pro version. It’s kind of a no brained that you are given a set of features and then you complain that the bike can’t handle more features. Buy the bike that works for you rather than criticizing the bike for what it can do. There are literally 10s of thousands of people who only need a decent commute bike who live in relatively flat areas and who don’t need to travel more than the bike can give them on a return trip.
Price seems reasonable for an e-bike that light and good looking. One critical area not addressed:hills. I live in a hilly city and I like hills.
You would be more comfortable if you raised the bars. Also I would have liked to see how you access the battery.
Looks like its made by Motorlife perhaps? Ride 1 UP here in the states sell a similar one as their "roadster" model, but without the tech features.
