One difference I've noticed between UK and Oz is that a lot of the houses in the UK are semi-detached and look the same. Most houses here are free-standing but that in itself causes problems. Look out for a video on why it's so hot in western Sydney lately. I think it was a 4 Corners report. It's shocking and a real eye-opener
10:42 being from a small town I look at people and say g'day. When I went to the city I was warned off looking people in the eye.I just look at people and they talk to me slowly. I have never had a problem. I like how they slow the talk for regional people. I don't need it but it is a laugh.
13:39 If you see a squid in the wild they are so smart. They come up and look at you. I told my mate to grab the net. He knew what was going on and got out of there.
Coffee shops across the USA are popping up, and catering to vegetarians, vegans, and gluten free. Locally owned ones. Not Starbucks, or any other chain coffee shops.
The high minimum wage and "no tipping", means that restaurant food is very expensive. You can't get a cup of coffee for under $4, which is hard for a Canadian (being used to Tim Horton's) to swallow. Otherwise, a great place to live!!
I'm thinking I should have moved there back when I was in my 20s. There are plenty of nice beaches and surf spots , not to mention the Sheila's. I could have kept my profession , just get used to the metric system.
Your dreamin'. You obviously don't know many people. Of course there is a class system. The Gini coefficient is doing quite well. Perhaps more equal than most places though.
The American dream leavened with yeast I'd say. Here the American dream is to have your home, good income job but also go out often on vacation or to eat. Raise a family as well in most cases but it's the American dream....the Human Kind dream there from what you're describing !!!!! I understand many tourists actually stay there if possible to live or at least go over there time of their visa.
The Australians have the “Digger” mentality. “Never forget your mates”. Comes from world war 1 where you never left a mate behind..... So most of us like to help each other in emergencies etc.
We barely brought anything with us. Most of the stuff we brought over was sentimental and we used a shared container. Then we started from scratch when we got here 😊
8:30 WET Wine equalisation tax. It was made to help the industry but it just keeps the rich drinking for less tax now. That is why the Chinese thought we were dumping wine on them.
Talking about Superannuation, all of us Australians lost some of our Super from 2021-2022 financial year. I hope the economy will get better 2022-2023 financial year. In regards to education in Australia, students are trained to think outside the box and critical thinking is a must! Teachers, don't spoon feed students academically here. Students need to be creative and open/acceptable to others idea. That's my experienced when I went to University here.
The wages are only good because our house prices are higher than most other countries🤣 the average house price in Sydney is 1.3 mill so we definitely need the higher wages - even still people struggle !
We only have had 1 - but that’s because we kept leaving the doors open. If you keep your flyscreens closed you should be alright. We didn’t have any inside at our last house, which was in an estate by the coast.
Have you been to Adelaide ? you said its the driest state not so . What about the northern territory and some parts of WA. The ses are amazing so is there service. I have been and lived all over the world and Aussie slang has got me in a few strange situations.
I’m South Australian and I always heard that we were the driest state on the driest continent. I have been saying that for probably fifty years but I never asked the big g so might need to check up on myself. The Northern Territory hasn’t been a state since they became separated from SA though.
@@SandraEarleRusso Yeah i still live in Sa and i always thought NT was dryer than sa if you are 50 i have years on you. I have never in my life known the northern territory to have been part of SA .I looked it up The land now occupied by the Northern Territory was part of colonial New South Wales from 1825 to 1863, except for a brief time from February to December 1846, when it was part of the short-lived colony of North Australia. The Northern Territory was part of South Australia from 1863 to 1911.
@@imoverthetop44 My point is SA is the driest state as NT is not a state and hasn't been for a long, long time. I am more than 50, I didn't start telling people we were the driest state in the driest country on the driest continent until I was (or at least pretending to be) a grown up.
@@SandraEarleRusso you are not correct your saying its a territory not a state. it is in fact. Australia's third largest state* Northern Territory (NT) is Australia’s third largest state* covering an area of around 1,346,200 km². If it were a country all on its own, it would be the world’s 20th biggest just ahead of Peru. The UK could fit into NT around 5 1/2 times and it is almost twice the size of Texas. This is from Google not me !
@@imoverthetop44 Sorry Bob, google got it wrong or the person that wrote the google post you read got it wrong. There are more I believe but I don't have the time atm to research.
Your employer deposits 10% of your pre tax wage into your super fund. It's not a "top up" from your employer. [Edit: I have no evidence of this next statement] The employer gets some kind of compensation through the tax system for the extra admin burden.
Not really sure what you mean by the employer gets compensation for the admin burden! And from 1 July it's 10.5% of all wages. Prior to this it was only if you earned $450/month or more.

Look out for a video on why it's so hot in western Sydney lately. I think it was a 4 Corners report. It's shocking and a real eye-opener
I like that RUN DMC shirt bro.
I believe we have 80,000 beaches in Australia. I may be put by an order of magnitude, but there's a lot!
You want to see colour? - you need to come to Sydney see Vivid. Greatest winter light show in the world...
That’s good to know! We might have to schedule a Sydney trip for winter 😁
@@TheBAMFamalam if you do, book a Harbour cruise - food and drink on board whilst you cruise the vivid festival and its warmer...
Another wonderful video clip.
Thank you so much for watching 🥰🥰
Love and agree with most of this video!🥰
Thank you 🥰🥰
The possums have learnt to climb the electric wires to avoid the cats and dogs. They are amazing. Flying foxes still get fried.
Mmmm Vegemite Chicken Wings and legs fried/BBQ/Baked 😍
Bloody fine food crack a cold one
Coffee shops across the USA are popping up, and catering to vegetarians, vegans, and gluten free. Locally owned ones. Not Starbucks, or any other chain coffee shops.
Tech savvy... well yeah, we invented wifi :P Lawnmowers, cochlear implants, black box....
We love how much is taught in schools, our girls are already doing such incredible things 😊
Wow you guys not enhancing the winging Pom reputation. Nice positive upbeat feel good video.
would be keen to know about childminding services yous use after school whilst working etc (if any, this is the 1st vid i've watched).
Best place in the world, if you want my opinion, Cheers
We quite agree! ❤️
Love your t-shirt
I hope to go there soon
SES = state emergency service. A volunteer organisation that people can use in case of a emergency.
It is truly incredible, we’ve been amazed during local emergencies to see everyone fly into action 🧡
The high minimum wage and "no tipping", means that restaurant food is very expensive. You can't get a cup of coffee for under $4, which is hard for a Canadian (being used to Tim Horton's) to swallow. Otherwise, a great place to live!!
I suppose you could argue that if you are being payed properly you can probably afford the coffee. haha
That was so lovely.
I'm thinking I should have moved there back when I was in my 20s. There are plenty of nice beaches and surf spots , not to mention the Sheila's. I could have kept my profession , just get used to the metric system.
So when do the invites go out for your citizenship ceremony. I wanna be there!
Oh my gosh, how many people do you think they’ll let us bring? 😁
Well you have almost 4,000 followers! 🙂 Wouldn’t that be a blast!
if you guys are ever in SA come for a barbie!
I'm australian and l want to move to australia you guys do us proud
Thank you 🥰😎
By the way, much of our culture comes from egalitarianism i.e. lack of class system and everyone is inalienably determined equal and valuable.
You’ve taught us a new word tonight Shaun 😁 It is very true what you say, everyone gets a chance here 😊
@@TheBAMFamalam ❤❤❤
Your dreamin'. You obviously don't know many people. Of course there is a class system. The Gini coefficient is doing quite well. Perhaps more equal than most places though.
I'm an unvaccinated, climate change denier, anti ass kisser and I don't feel equal at all.
how great are these new aussies
The American dream leavened with yeast I'd say.
Here the American dream is to have your home, good income job but also go out often on vacation or to eat. Raise a family as well in most cases but it's the American dream....the Human Kind dream there from what you're describing !!!!!
I understand many tourists actually stay there if possible to live or at least go over there time of their visa.
The Australians have the “Digger” mentality. “Never forget your mates”. Comes from world war 1 where you never left a mate behind..... So most of us like to help each other in emergencies etc.
Hi, just wondering what you did with your furniture and house bits from uk. Did you get crate or container to move. Thanks x
We barely brought anything with us. Most of the stuff we brought over was sentimental and we used a shared container. Then we started from scratch when we got here 😊
Thanks. Which company did you use. We are only bringing clothes and sentimental stuff too. Don't need full container xx
8:30 WET Wine equalisation tax. It was made to help the industry but it just keeps the rich drinking for less tax now. That is why the Chinese thought we were dumping wine on them.
That's an umm interesting take on the world most dangerous snakes
Talking about Superannuation, all of us Australians lost some of our Super from 2021-2022 financial year. I hope the economy will get better 2022-2023 financial year.
In regards to education in Australia, students are trained to think outside the box and critical thinking is a must! Teachers, don't spoon feed students academically here. Students need to be creative and open/acceptable to others idea. That's my experienced when I went to University here.
NUMBER 20 NO way I can can think of better icons then him..
The wages are only good because our house prices are higher than most other countries🤣 the average house price in Sydney is 1.3 mill so we definitely need the higher wages - even still people struggle !
quite scared of snakes, do they always show up in the house as we see on some news posts?
Australia's third largest state*
Northern Territory (NT) is Australia’s third largest state* covering an area of around 1,346,200 km².
Australia has 6 states and 2 territories, (ACT & NT are the territories) well there are other territories not on the mainland which include Christmas Island, Norfolk Island and the Australian Antactic Territory. There are more I believe but I don't have the time atm to research.
The problem with the new housing developments you also have to say goodbye to good farmland and animal habitat
Yeah, it's not a bad place to live...
Guys, who needs a tourism board? Sack 'em I say, you two do a better job.
Haha thank you 🥰
Your employer deposits 10% of your pre tax wage into your super fund.
@@heritagehorsedrawncarriage1069 I can't find any references to a direct compensation so I'll withdraw that claim.
"wages in australia are incredible" = so is the cost of living here lol
When I moved over to Australia from New Zealand I was randomly stopped by an immigration officer at Brisbane airport. She asked to see my passport and as I handed over my NZ passport she rolled her eyes and said, "Oh no, not another one, what's the purpose of your visit?' My reply; 'To raise the collective IQ of Australia by 50%' She shook her head and laughed. Nowhere else in the world you could say that to an official at an airport. Love Aussies!
ha ha ha try that in LA Airport I am sure you will have the airport polices running towards you with AK-57 lol
Bahaaahaa that’s hilarious! 🙋♀️🇦🇺
