I came here in 1977. I had to work for a year at a hospital in Melbourne and then they paid my airfare back. Hated the hospital but made life long friends from that place. Got a job at the Royal Melbourne Hospital after my first year and loved it. Never looked back, also met an Aussie man. Still with him in 2024 and a grandmother. Love this country.
In Sydney you need 300000 a year and 250000 in the bank with no debt and no kids to buy an average home. The average rent is around $1000 a week The median wage is 65,000. We are taking about a million immigrants a year, jacking up prices and rents, and keeping wages low. At this rate the entry working population will be homeless by 2030.
We love your videos and it's true the constant researching. Can you assist with links and groups you joined to ask questions and research more about the state you planned to migrate to. We are a family of 4 waiting for our 189 visa. We are confused between Perth and Brisbane. Also purchasing a house.

Hello the BAM fam! Thank you for your informative videos. May I request for the checklist that you mentioned at the end of the video? We are planning to move there in Australia by end of this year. Still thinking if Melbourne or Brisbane, any thoughts you can sharper? We are a family of 4 with 2 kids aged 15 and 8 :) super thanks and God bless you!
Wait till the Olympics hits Brissy up there. It'll get to next level when the time comes. Im in Sydney and the whole city was an absolute buzz for a few weeks. You going to any events when it cones around? Its so worth it if you can.
Many hope the two week sports carnival gets cancelled, another example of how the regions provide ALL the revenue (mining and agriculture) but it's spent within 10Kms of the CBD while the regions critical infrastructure programs like dams, roads get shelved. The current stadium they wanted to knock and rebuild for an extra 8,000 seats at a cost of $4B and with the recent union construction deal with the current Labor government your could nearly double that.
@@elenawalker3746 well what more do you expect for Labor being voted in. They love to spend money even when they don't have it. They do it time after time and just look at how Victoria is now after the fascist Andrews government. Sydney gained a lot from the 2000 games.
@@mblatchford21ahh that is too much! Is there an incentive from the government? Here it is based off of your salary. Some ppl I know pay 60$ a month! And these daycares are top notch- just all depends on your salary which will calculate your child care fees
@courtneylenkeit1455 There is some government support for lower incomes but my husband earns just a tiny bit too much so we pay full whack. I'm wondering if it's even the right decision or if we'd be better off me just not working but I don't want to be forced not to work and give up on my career until both are in school.
I had a chat today with someone from the Down Under agency and they gave us no hope to ever be able to move there... that hit us (me and my partner) hard. Such a sad day :(

You are amazing guys I love your helpful videos You are so right about your life being like “ on- hold” We are waiting for our Direct entry visa and our house is already for sale for 2 days 😂 Please could you tell me how it works once your house is sold in UK in terms of transferring the money over to Australia? Does it cost a lot? Do you have to pay any extra money as tax or something in the UK from your equity? Please help 😊
We’ve used the same company for the last 8 years and have managed to secure preferential rates with them, you can go on there to check how much you will get 👉🏼 www.ofx.com/p/bam-famalam/ If it’s the home you live in then you shouldn’t need to pay capital gains. No extra taxes or anything like that to transfer, your simply transferring to another currency xx
Thanks so much this is very helpful We are going to NSW but I do hope that maybe one day I see you guys over there 😊 What international moving company did you use? X
As of 2024, rentals have become very expensive in Australia, mainly because of 3 years of very little construction. Australia is an "importer of people" via immigration, but there are also student visas, working visas, and holiday visas. Not much rentals available. If you have $500,000 dollars to buy a house, along with a retirement pension, then the odds are better.

I read an article the other day that said Australia is on it's way to becoming technically a third world nation. I hope not!
My motto is “do it and do it now”. Love your enthusiasm.💖
You are a wonderful family and most welcome here cheers from Sydney
Awww thanks 🥰🥰
My family migrated from Germany in 1960. I was a child. I loved it💖
The time has flown by! Miss you guys xx
Feet first people are the kind of people Australia needs. Brave people. Thanks for coming to Australia.👍
Awww thanks 🥰🥰🥰 TBH I think a lot of expats must be like this, it would be an even more hectic thing to do if you didn’t just get on with it xx

Wow! $100 a day on child care- and I am over here crying at $20 a day 🇨🇦
$20 would have been a dream! Xx
We pay £78 per day per child in the UK and it's crippling us!

You're immigrants not expats. Seem liek very nice of a couple but it's important to acknowledge that.
who'd have thunk Brexit would screw you over moving here
I don’t think anyone was actually expecting it to go through 🤦🏼♀️
There's no way these 2 will be able to buy a house, the bloke can't even afford a razor.
You’re right… it’s pretty rubbish being us 😉🧔🏽♂️
