    Classic concussion! He hit the back of his head. It does not need to be a big hit. Too many receivers get the exact same concussion while catching and falling backwards except they get it at running speed.

      wait, the NFL does what? The NFL doesn't make players play. Coaches ask/tell players to play. A medical team gives their stance on whether a player can or can't play, but nobody MAKES a player play. So many stupid comments out there like this. So many people saying the NFL should be punished. So many people nowadays calling for justice. Can't we go back to thinking that instead of always having to have a victim to thinking that the person who plays the sport is to blame? If a snowboarder breaks his back going down a hill, you going to say the resort should be punished? Tua plays a high speed contact sport. He got hurt. He knows he got hurt. He walked out on the field under his own decision the next game after having an obvious concussion, and you say it's the NFL's fault?!? You are a moron.

    Some fields can cause more damage than others but when your neck whips your head like that with a direct blow to the back of the head I’m surprised he got up like he did. I think many people wouldn’t get up from that, it doesn’t look as bad as it really is that was a serious blow to the head.
    I can’t remember the receivers name but he had a similar injury coming down with a catch and it didn’t look that bad but he was unconscious and missed a bit of time because of it.

    The fact that the injury wasn't flagged as a concussion by the team doctors and Tua wasn't pulled for a MINIMUM for a full month to recover is an indictment on the entire organization, especially after what happened after when he got a much more severe one a week later I believe. This is why the NFL has a chronic CTE problem, zero time for the players to recover from sub concussive injuries, never mind full blown severe concussions.

    In cycling there is a technology called MIPS, short version, it helps with the sudden stoppage of the brain inside the skull, under impact. Basically a floating, multi directional liner inside the helmet. I’m not sure if it would help with the impacts that football players take, but with cycling we can crash at speeds over 30mph. Unfortunately I’ve had seven concussions and cannot risk another while racing. My concentration and short term memory have been the biggest problems.

    I have been a Dolphin for 60 years. I am also a physician with significant training in treating traumatic brain injuries. It is so hard to say this, however, Tua needs to retire from football. TBI's are cumulative and it is apparent that the impact he received should not have had such neurological impairment. This is the definition of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy. Tua is a great human being. He needs to move on and I am sure his life will be amazing beyond football.

    • @NippleSauce
      @NippleSauce 15 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      Good words.
      I had a far worse injury than this. I hit the back of my head into concrete at 22mph with no helmet at all. My skull fractured in three locations on the right side and I had suffered from severe ischemia in my brain's left hemisphere. I was in a coma for around three months - two of which were medically induced. I got a fifth of my skull removed from the right side to prevent the brain swelling from causing similar ischemia to the right hemisphere. And oddly enough, the anesthesia temporarily broke me out of my coma both times they had provided it to remove my skull and to staple the right section back on after two more weeks went by.
      But, I just wanted to reply to you because I have found that I have recovered surprisingly well (with some self-administered medical treatments) for what I have experienced. So, there would be hope for Tua regardless of whether or not he stops playing football. But whether or not he would be willing to pursue the few lifestyle changes required to heal the brain from such trauma is the real question to ask.
      Granted, there was more stuff occurring in society when my injury had occurred that only made things worse...one of which was illegal college student medical practice being done on me both while I was in the coma and after I was out of the coma.... And another issue was being fed antibiotics via IV for around 3.5 months straight....and having a 53% lactose compound pumped into my stomach via a G-Tube even though I am highly lactose intolerant (which was noted on one of my medical bracelets and in the medical computer system).
      But anyways, I can go on and on about this stuff. If you wanna inquire about methods of cerebral healing that brought me back to an almost fully functional state (after around 3-4 years), feel free to ask away =).
