This dude just walked into LA, had a 98 yard game winning TD leading to the team's first win in 7 games, and started headbutting his teammates helmets like he's a literal ram. This has to be the most bizarre week for your average Rams player.

You could have a U-Haul sponsorship tie-in. Baker could paint a couple targets on the outside and he keeps knocking the pictures on the other side off the wall when he throws the ball.
I appreciate seeing the drive in full context. The penalties were deserved. Knocking the ball out of Mayfield’s hands to kill time was especially stupid.
ik it just sucks knowing these penalties not happening would keep the raiders playoff hopes alive and putting Baker Mayfield in the dirt once and for all. That man connected on 3 passes for like 30 yards out of the 98 they had to go
@@kiwiboi1340 That man led an impressive 98-yard drive with 0 timeouts, with only 2 days to learn the playbook. The majority was via Mayfield's passing. The offense drew a penalty via PI. And the defense committed a stupid penalty via unsportsmanlike conduct. That's all part of the game, and it doesn't take away from how impressive the drive was.

He honestly deserves the very best! Congratulations on your huge win, baker! I honestly wish you all the very best!
@@ThingSomeRandom He's always been like that, even with the Lions. Whenever he was injured and out of the lineup, he was always happy to see his backup play well and to see the team win.
Speaking of that, the fact the Rams claimed Baker, very early in the waivers process, speaks volumes about their concerns with Stafford. There is a chance he doesn't play next year.. he may even retire. Mayfield was solid early in his career and he could be serviceable for the Rams; he will just never break the -he was drafted over Josh Allen so he's a complete bust- label.
Baker is one of those players who can turn his career around. He was awesome as a rookie and spent his first 2 years being coached by Hue Jackson and Freddie Ate the Kitchens. He played through an injury last year. His accuracy is still very good and he is a quick decision maker. Not saying he'll ever be an MVP but he does play with that swag and confidence you look for and he can revive his career ala Tannehill.

Coming back after Baker got off to a good start in Tampa Bay. I was a bit worried his talent had been exhausted after his cup of coffee in Carolina, but clearly he's rediscovered his stride. He's a grinder and he knows what he's doing.
If he accomplishes any amount of success with this team, it’ll be one of the greatest Cinderella stories in sports history. Would love to see Hard Knox follow them next year. Congratulations Baker 💯

@@guzmanfann Starting QBs rarely survive a season w/o injury. Having (2) starting QBs on the roster is a good thing. You could even switch them off every other game.
Absolutely unbelievable drive from Baker Mayfield: - Mayfield was literally just two days removed from being released by the Panthers - The Rams were the only team who even put a claim on him in waivers - He had barely any practice with his new team coming into tonight - He wasn't even the starting quarterback for the game - The Rams were backed up to their 2 to start their final drive courtesy of A.J. Cole's absolutely perfect 64-yard punt (Might as well call him Ray Guy 2.0) - With the score being 16-10, the Rams had to drive the full 98 yards to win the game in only a minute and forty-five seconds - The Raiders pass rush, lead by Maxx Crosby, is literally one of the best in the league I have no f___ing idea how the hell Baker was able to do this considering the full context of the situation.
it was a fun drive, but it was VERY lucky too. bailed out by penalty, then bailed out by penalty, then lucky catch off defenders helmet. but i have to admit that last throw was beautiful.

Browns fan here. I liked Baker a lot when he was here in Cleveland. He helped deliver the Browns first playoff win since the 90s! He brought a lot of excitement to a franchise that was desperate for a winner. Fans were naming their kids after him for Gods sake! And then so many turned on him the next year when he struggled. So many fans got ugly! He does have some maturity issues but Lord knows we all did at that age. I really hope he succeeds in the NFL (and life).
I think this is a first for NFL history to come to a new team less than 2 days and make them a winner on a last play throwing a touchdown! You can't make this stuff up and I'm sure there's no quarterback in history in the record books that has ever done this after being traded to a team and you've been with them less than 2 days! This is one for the NFL record books and I'm thankful it was Baker that did it! Hopefully the Ram's house is now Baker's house! I hope they do his commercials again!
There's shitty fans like that everywhere. Look what some new england fans did to Mac Jones. Belichick set him up for failure with a bad wr corps, a bad O line, and a bad OC, so obviously the offense looks bad, but like half the fan base turned on Mac for it.
How many times are teams burned by not sticking with their key investments? "What have you done for me lately?" is not a great question to ask of someone with Mayfield's potential.
A Browns fan here also. I liked Baker and thought that he was the player that we saw last night. I still think he will be one of the best once he has a coach that will help him instead of hurting him like in Cleveland and Carolina.. I will always be a fan even though he is gone from here. The Baker haters make themselves look foolish every time they hit a computer key or open their mouths. As far as maturity issues are concerned do you think being accused of sexual assault by more than 20 women is mature? Do you think it is mature to sign a QB to his 5th year and say in front of him and the entire city on television that he will be the QB next year then go out and look for somebody else? Do you think it was mature of a "Browns employee" to say that it will be good to get an adult in the room? I think the immaturity lies in the Browns front office, coaching and ownership. Finally for a couple of years the Browns were being run well but now it is back to being the old, immature Browns organization and it looks like they are all on the same immature page.
Speaking as a Browns fan, good for Baker. He treated Cleveland and the fans great for the years he was here. I hope he can find solid footing in this league.
Doubt he supplants Stafford as the starter, but he definitely is building a nice resume for another shot as a starter elsewhere. The Jets or Colts definitely ought to give him a good hard look considering their quarterback shortcomings.
I don't think we should read that far into this. Let's see what happens in the next game or so. Don't get me wrong though, this was extremely impressive and shouldn't be discounted at all. Definitely one for the books no doubt.
That dumb dance (if you want to call it a dance) is stupid. You notice Minnesota has gone nowhere. They'll go nowhere this year too. Justin Jefferson is like Erkel trying to be cool.
If anything, those penalties on this drive showcase why it's so important for players to not make dumb mistakes in pivotal situations. I wish him the best in LA, and that he continues to improve to be the quarterback he should be. Here's to you, Baker.
I hate the way the Browns treated Baker. They make it hard to be a Browns fan. Good to see Baker playing his game and having fun, should have been with a stacked Cleveland team
A former Browns fan... I don't believe I've ever seen a team as dysfunctional as the Cleveland Browns. In Mayfield's 3+ years there we saddled him with 3 different head coaches, 3 different offensive coordinators & schemes and an O' line that gave new meaning to the word incompetent. Good for him for fighting thru the injuries created by the above mentioned incompetence and landing on his feet.
The Rams receivers made some great catches too. Baker played incredibly well in that final drive, but so did the rest of the team. That was fun to watch. Shows how a person needs to keep trying - no matter the circumstances.
@@carsonkelly2123 Absolutely - Those catches were highlight real stuff. The touchdown was the easiest, but the one to Skowronek was one of those low percentage things that worked out by a guy who wanted it more.

True, and it wasn't just one of those moments where a guy just steps in and throws a deep hail Mary and hits the lottery. He engineered that drive with the help of his entire team.
I'm not a Baker Mayfield fan (Texas Longhorn here, so obvious reasons), but I give props to Baker for putting his big boy pants on and getting the job done. It's ridiculously impressive to come in cold to a new team, zero experience with that line or WR/RB/TE group, no knowledge of their terminology or system, and STILL make the plays where they count. Silent count? On a completely NEW team?? RIDIC. That's football IQ, and Baker played well. Kudos!
Dude. He threw into double coverage but because the guy pass interference it didn't count. He still is such a bad QB it seems like. Having one good drive does not make you good. He's a sorry QB and he was a problem at the browns it wasn't just the organization.
Baker is too small, can’t throw a 15 yard out pattern, can’t make quick reads at the line of scrimmage, locks on to receivers and rarely hits secondary targets. If one drive changes anyones mind about his talent, they are in for a world of hurt.
Yeah, I'm gonna steel that one dude. The thing is if they had no terminology in their system, where would the count come from to begin with? I have no clue, I've been counting so long I cant remember... wait a second what was that count?

He can carry a team on his shoulders unlike some guys that are 4 inches taller and can run a better 40 time. I have followed him ever since he got the starting job at Oklahoma. Ever since he started for our Browns, I cheered him on and supported him regardless, he did great with us. Had an injury the last year, got screwed over and traded off to Carolina. The formula wasn't working for the Panthers, even though they themselves are not a good team, extremely inconsistent. He didn't do his best, but let's be real, half those throws were catchable, and were dropped. Love him or hate him, he's a hard working guy who had to learn 6 different playbooks and learn the Rams offensive schemes in 2 days all while pulling off a win.. that's literally insane! Not a Rams fan, or any LA team, but I'm happy for Baker.
First off, this was incredible to watch, and it's just a great story (unless you're a Raiders fan). That being said, this is about as good an example as I can think of for what good coaching and organizational structure can do for a player. Yes the Rams are not good this year, but that's more a function of purposeful strategy (bet on short-term success to win a SB, which worked) and bad injury luck (they are REAL thin right now). I would argue that McVay and his coaching staff are still among the best in the league when it comes to the actual job of coaching players up and game planning. I realize Baker hasn't been there long enough to really reap whatever benefits may exist for being with the Rams, but there's A LOT to be said for how the coaching staff likely prepared him to maximize his strengths and minimize his weaknesses, while keeping things as simple as possible. It's also a DAMNING indictment of the Browns (which is depressingly normal) and Panthers (which is creaking toward becoming a laughingstock franchise). Also, yes the Raiders aren't very good, and that DEFINITELY helped. I doubt this would have happened against the Eagles, Bills, Cowboys, Chiefs, Bengals, etc. Still, the Raiders were in the playoff hunt (and technically still are), so they needed this win so it's not like they were sleepwalking through this game. Another example of something similar (not exactly the same) happening this season is Geno Smith in Seattle. Unless you are a Seahawks fan (and maybe even if you are), you probably thought they would be one of the two or three worst teams in the league. Instead, they are 7-5 with a VERY good chance of making the playoffs, and a decent shot at the division title. And that's largely because of Geno's play. Meanwhile, Russell Wilson goes to Denver, and while he might not be what he once was, look at that coaching staff who's working with him in Denver. Meanwhile, Geno has Pete Carroll, who whatever you think of him, is extremely successful and has been at just about every stop. TL;DR - Coaching MATTERS, and while some players will be great regardless, some players CAN be great with great coaching.
@@seanrichards4316 The success of 2020 was a very real thing of course, but unfortunately for the Browns, the near complete failure of 1999-2019 and 2021-2022 does too. In my opinion, 2020 was the outlier for that organization, and they proved it by bailing on Baker, signing a guy they knew would be facing at least some type of VERY lengthy suspension, and then bailing on Jacoby Brissett, who's actually played fairly well for the most part.
I’ve been rooting for baker since his departure from the browns. It’s sad to see a player who had an unproductive season get sent to essentially lose their career. Hopefully this game showed he’s still got some good left in him unlike most people thought. It sure showed me those flashes
Cleveland did everything to shove him out. That had all the makings of a power struggle. They made him play through injuries that slowly degraded him, then blamed him for it.
IMO it was Stefanski's fault for not pulling him last year. I could never understand why Kevin let Baker talk him into continued play. STEFANSKI'S the coach, not Baker. But then again, Andrew Berry apparently didn't like Baker (or rather always wanted Deshawn), and talked the Haslam's into getting rid of him.

What maturity issues specifically?

To join a team less then like a week or whatever it was before you start and to win your first game in a game winning drive is so impressive. Super happy for baker! Hope nothing but the best moving forward.
What an astounding set of events that unfolded tonight, this is what you love the NFL for
This was just one of those happy moments in pro sports. Like when the Browns beat the Steelers in the playoffs. If you aren't the other team it's almost impossible not to feel happy for Baker
for those of age to remember, this is the situation from film, HEAVEN CAN WAIT
This was so nice to see. Very Happy for Baker. Ofc this isnt about him being the Rams QB, its just about him securing this job for the rest of the season , to prove teams that will be in need for QB that he is worthy . Hope he plays like this for the rest of the season .
I do think there's a non zero chance that Stafford retires. With all the injuries hes had plus the fact that he got his ring and there are other problems like Donald and McVay potentially retiring. If Baker looks halfway decent for the rest of the year there's a chance that he sticks around as the rebuild QB for the Rams.
I’m a Browns fan, and I thought it was shitty how we handled him. He’s competitive and has talent I’m happy to see him doing good somewhere else.
This guy has talent. Theres a reason he was the #1 pick. He can make absolutely unbelievable throws. Glad he won this one.
he's a backup . . . at best. the guy drives the ball down the field in ONE game and you think he's a HOF QB. LOL
@@RobertoCarlos-tn1iq not to mention a few holding calls on Maxx Crosby during that last drive.
@@RobertoCarlos-tn1iq Where in that statement did he say he was a HOF QB? He said he has talent. That's a fact. It took talent to do what he did. Save the dumb penalties also made, but Mayfield made some damn good throws. Could you make those throws? No? Because that took talent.
He can carry a team on his shoulders unlike some guys that are 4 inches taller and can run a better 40 time. I have followed him ever since he got the starting job at Oklahoma. He gets every ounce of production out of his ability. His only knock is sometimes he may try too hard and play through injuries he shouldn't.
I'm no expert, but that was some pretty elite level quarterbacking. Good for Baker Mayfield.
WTG Baker. I’m so happy for him. He has had a rough road lately, he needed something good to happen. Well done Baker, keep up the good work.
I’m not even a Rams fan but I think I can say this is my favorite story of the year… while everyone else was hating on Baker I was hoping for him to find a new home and I think he did.
Baker really got crapped on this year by the media. It's cool to see something like this. I'm happy for him as a person. ~ A Patriots fan.
he's always crapped on by the media... less clicks when your stories take into account the other 10 people on offense.
His biggest mistake so far in his career was not having season ending surgery right after he dislocated his shoulder stefanski kept playing him as more injuries occurred, Baker was leading the league in accuracy and a top 10 QBR prior to the injury in game 3 of 2021
This is legit the greatest regular season QB feat in history
As a Browns fan who has nothing but love for baker as he brought us our first playoff game and win in many many years. I'm happy to see him win.
I believe, as a Browns fan, that it was Baker that turned things around for the Browns. Just his excitement for the game brought everyone on board with him.
@@Hoaxer51 to be fair, it was him, Chubb, and Garrett. His downfall was his inability to play hurt, and his stubbornness to sit on the bench and heal.
I’m happy that the Rams are finally getting more fans because of the players we get. Last year we got Lions fans to root for us and now it seems like a lot of Browns fans and some panther fans were rooting for us tonight. Amazing. Sucks that away teams usually have more fans than us in our own stadium, but at least the internet was rockin all night.

@@FrankDTank16, Yea, I agree with you, it is a team effort. I just really liked Baker’s enthusiasm, like when he windmilled all the way into the end zone to celebrate with his players when they scored a touchdown. They others were a bit more calm but it was fun to watch them finally win some games and get into the playoffs!
Dude threw a pick, got sacked, and didn’t let that get to him. Kept his composure, that was impressive
He didn’t throw a pick, the receiver was held and his route was disrupted resulting in the appearance of a pick which didn’t count because it was penalized for PI.

Great highlight, but his performance in the 2020 playoffs was better in my opinion. Threw 3 touchdowns and put up 45 points vs. Pittsburgh before losing to eventual Super Bowl winner Kansas City in a tight game.

This could be the start of a coach/QB bromance and the rest is history. I think Mcvay knows what kind of QB Baker is or he wouldn't have picked him up. Excited to see what Baker does with the Rams the rest of the season. This finish was SPECTACULAR. Glad I got to watch it when it happened.
Nicely said. This was like Training Day but for football, love the mentality of McVay to put Mayfield on the spot and see what a Heisman trophy can do. The energy they felt is unforgettable.
It may only be for a few more weeks, but I hope the Baker & McVay duo are able to end the season on a good note
Imagine being a punter and making a play like that, that honestly should’ve iced the game 😂 and then Baker Mayfield does this
I havent even gotten past the punt I was watching along on the play by play so I had no idea how any of these plays looked in real time. That was an absolutely incredible punt one of the best ones I've seen in awhile

0:36 Still the best part is everyone on the Raiders got so cocky thinking they won even the punter was acting wild 😂
Quality reply. I'm on board with all of this.
How is this an indictment on the Browns? Like damn did 2020 not exist?
You should write for ESPN or Fox. Where were you when I had to do papers. Lol
Just look at McDaniels’ expressions vs McVay’s.
