While a peon at Disney Records in 1974, an exec introduced me to Burl in 1974 as they walked by. Burl reached up over a big wooden barrier between us just to shake my hand. A moment in life I'll never forget. Classy guy. RIP Burl and Glen.
Sitting at home with the flu listening to Burl Ives. I really like this one because I love Glen also. I was born in the early '70's so all I knew about Burl Ives was he was the Frosty the Snowman guy. Thank god for TH-cam.
The late great Burl Ives was 65 years old when this was taped. What a wonderful joy to see these two musical icons ! THANK YOU so very much for uploading for us to enjoy !
Between Burl's strumming, Glen's tasty licks and the both of them singing and harmonizing, I'm just spellbound by the level of talent! This is leaps and bounds better and more satisfying to the soul than any of the crap that passes for popular music today.
It's great to sing along with Burl - we heard his songs in the 50s. Left wing singers like the late lamented Roy Bailey sing songs with a message we can pass on. sonichits.com/video/Roy_Bailey/Anna_Mae
Glen could sing along with anyone, and feel at home... Never will there be another like him. I love the way he always looked at whoever he was with, like the honest lovely man he was."REST EASY DEAREST GLEN"
Thanks for uploading this. Nice to know that as long as TH-cam lasts these classic moments will be available. I never saw this on TV so this is a real treat. 🙂👍
Bought an old 8 track player from a yard sale. I had to grease all the moving parts and the motor. Once things got loosened up I played Burl Ives Greatest hits, the 8 track that came with it. Listened to it over and over again trying to work in this old machine again. Now i'm hooked!!
Wow! What gems you find on the 'tube. Thanks for posting this. A quality live performance by two performers from different generations blending so smoothly..
Beg to differ. He sold millions of records. Won a best supporting actor Oscar. Appeared in concert all over Europe and the USA. Music tastes change--but his songs and recordings are forever.
+Eli Redeker Burl Ives didn't sell out anyone to McCarthy. As he said at the time he was forced to do something he didn't want to do, but he had no choice. Alot of people were hurt by the blacklist. Those who were blacklisted and those who were forced to testify against their will. He named Pete Seeger as someone who "might" have communist ties. He wasn't telling them anything they didn't already know. Pete Seeger played on Burl Ives 1959 album Return Of The Wayfaring Stranger and Ives and Seeger did a reunion concert together shortly before Ives passed away.
Those songs are about life that never go out of date .A million years of talent.
They both look like they are having a wonderful time. So nice for Glen to give Burl Ives a chance to show his talents.

Thanks Baz. That's great.
Glen Campbell plays that guitar so casual, and so perfect. Both voices blend so well. Just pure talent.

Two great icons together. What a treat indeed.
Pure talent nothing better than old folk country music 🎶! I miss those 60s and 70s
Me, too!!

Pure class and talent which is sadly lacking nowerdays. RIP Burl Ives & Glen Campbell.
Burl Ives just had that special voice to sing folk songs! Glen harmonizes well with him and does amazing guitar work here!

@@ianday3276 Left wing? WTH are you talking about?
Amen to that!!
Burl Ives a great singer and an even better actor!
Glen could sing along with anyone, and feel at home... Never will there be another like him. I love the way he always looked at whoever he was with, like the honest lovely man he was."REST EASY DEAREST GLEN"
One doesn't realize just how much talent these older guys had, until we look at what we call talent today? ):
There's a whole wide world of talent out there...unfortunately it has a difficult time finding a large audience. I do agree with your sentiments!
Amen
No, they stand on their own, they need no comparison.
They put these folks today to shame.
The talent is there, it just gets drowned out by the noise! You would be surprise there is a lot on you tube.
Great combination and Glen was such a fantastic guitarist, one of the best.
Special talent from both. Didn't realize Burl was so much bluegrass in him. Outstanding!
This music is not considered bluegrass. It's Americana. 19th century folk music.
Burl's voice was like warm honey
when I saw him in Concert he was 74 & doing 115 concerts a year & could still those high notes.
..and his guitar is soothing to!
2 of my favourites I loved Burl Ives and Glen Campbells music The good old days with real talent.Todayd idea of entertainment is pathetic
Lovely thank you so much for sharing this exceptional piece of musical history🎼🎵🎶

I always enjoyed Burl Ives specials.
Glen, he started without you! Your harmony was verg good. Burl was very good, too. Their harmonies together were very nice. Thanks for this.
Glorious,such talented entertainment.
Awesome Medley!! "Jesse James", "Cool Water", "Billy The Kid" and "John Henry" sung by Burl Ives & Glen Campbell - Great guitar pickin' and singin'
How much talent wows, sure miss those days.
This is real music. No electronic canned music. No auto tune. No striptease. Just talent!
Probably not much call for striptease from burl. However I agree with you I don’t want any anywhere.
Probably little demand for striptease with burl ives
My favorite folk singer since I was a young girl I'm 63 now
Me, too. I used to listen to so much of that good music. Burl Ives was Christmas music.
Awesome duo you can't get any better than that.
I've been time traveling Glen all over YT. This guy's musical talent was magnificent. Ad Astra Glen.
I went swimming in Puget Sound once, when I was a young girl. My family and I made the trip to WA to see relatives.
Burl Ives... The true gentleman, the ballad master, God gifted talent, listened to his children's album as a child and I was hooked..
+chaz z My mom got Burl Ives kid albums for us..loved them!...gee, dates me!
+Judy Miller ..Maybe so Judy but you have good taste nonetheless.
"true American all the way." (?) The man was a communist.

Burl Ives... the maoist commie man.. true un-American MARXIST ALL THE WAY.

Thanks for uploading this. Nice to know that as long as TH-cam lasts these classic moments will be available. I never saw this on TV so this is a real treat. 🙂👍

AT 82 it seems like yesterday, but even I know it was not...sooo great..BOTH!
When God made these two iconic figures of American music and actors He threw away the mold for they don't make 'em like Glen and Burl any more.

The only reason Burl Ives could be underestimated is by the youth of today who have not heard of him. Burl and Glen are giants to us that have.
thanks for posting!
Now I see it is a great gift they have left us
Great songs! This kind of talent no longer exists.
Sad, but true.
Sweet and warm!

Check the "Cool Clear Water" version in the Ballad of Buster Scruggs. The horse keeps a perfect beat.
Thinking about you Glen, also your wife and children. Alzheimer's is cruel.
2 giants
They sing well together.
Ridestone Cowboy And SILVER GOLD
Too bad Glen Campbell kind of forgotten; what a life, what a singer. He had fun.
Burl Ives was a God...a great friend of Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger. A damn great actor also...
+Stacey Hershfield He was no friend to Pete. They hated each other for most of their lives!
+Eli Redeker Burl hated no one.
I assume he sold out the folksingers to mccarthy out of the goodness of his heart!
.....cry us a river.....

Wow
BURL HAD A MAGNIFICENT VOICE AND WAS TERRIFIC IN THE Big Country 👏
Don't have talent like that anymore! Maybe someday but not now!
did Glenn record this kind of stuff? incredible
