You have a great teaching/speaking voice in its cadence and rhythm. You make among the best sewing machine videos. Thank you for that very much.

What are the two black switches on the right by the bobbin thread guide? Enjoyed your video.

Hi Karen. Those are rubber gromets that I used to seal the holes where the old power switches were. They were broken and replacements were not available. The electronic portion of the switches has also failed without a replacement so I set up the machine to run on a double outlet cord similar to those that many of the Japanese clones use. I went to the trouble because I was determined to save a Necchi given how incredible its engineering was.

Hi Vintage Sewing Machine Garageman, what is your local Craigslist page? You say you have certain machines on Craigslist, but I do no see them. Is there a way to see all nationwide sewing machines, for example, instead of just one’s local Craigslist? Nice demo of this Necchi. I just did and won on eBay a Necchi Supernova BU, and I hope I got a good deal for under $230. Is there a list that that notes Necchi models by year chronologically?

I have just bought a Supernova Necchi sewing machine from a charity shop and NO instruction booklet, and I am paniking a little bit. The net has already helped me. But unfortunatly I seem to have a problem setting the winding position on the wheel, it felt stuck. I have removed the two screws and one seems to be shorter than the other could it be the reason of my problem? Do you think you can help me from far away? happy to pay for whatever may be.

I am also having an issue threading the machine. I just received one yesterday, this exact model and it runs very nicely I just can't thread it.

I would suggest finding either an original or PDF online copy of the user's manual. That is the best reference for learning how to thread the machine properly.

Hi, do you have any videos on the actual repair or restoration? We recently picked one of these up and want to thoroughly go through it but don't don't where to begin. I just need some videos or basic "A to B" pointers and could likely figure it our as I go. I've restored other larger machines before..drill press, saws, motors, etc..

Hello Jeff. I will be planning new video series that focus on overhauling and restoration tips. Keep watching the channel here. If you subscribe, you can set up notifications from TH-cam and they will notify you when a new video is posted here.

I wish you could show a close up threading of the upper thread. For some reason, I’m having difficulty threading the upper thread, especially around the tension dial. Thor thread keeps getting twisted, or gets knotted, even thought I follow the user’s manual as close as I can. None of the other videographers show clear, close-ups of the upper thread path around that tension dial and spring. Thank you for help if you can provide this help to me.
Additionally, where are you located so I could meet you to do some test sewing and possibly get some help. I must be doing something minor that is causing me this frustrating difficulty. Thank you.

Hello and thank you for asking. The next time I have one of these Supernova models, I will make a point to highlight the threading. I know it can be frustrating when you know the machine is likely not broken, but is waiting for the user to set it up properly. I will keep your questions in mind when I video my next Supernova!

Is familiar or industrial machine? Use actual needles like singer?

This machine, like the vast majority of vintage sewing machines built after the year 1900, use home sewing needles sometimes described as 15x1 and come in numerous needle sizes.
