I had a fiance failure, she wanted to sew. I almost tossed my Necchi BU that I knew nothing about and was sitting in my shed for over a decade. It was free from another neighbor who was losing his home. Figure I'll have to learn to sew and was impressed by the weight and excellent condition. Now I can't stop looking at videos! The machine is getting tuned up and cleaned at a shop. I'm super anxious to learn the basics of sewing and feel like a new driver in a Rolls Royce!
I have one too Necchi BU Nova still operating ... though I have issues when trying to saw thin fabrics don't know why , I'd like to know how to resolve this if you will
If you have the separate plate that came with it, it would have a small hole for Straight stitching which was used for delicate fabrics. The plate with the oval opening for ZigZag is often too much space and it can allow the needle to pull down thin fabrics and cause issues. If you don't have that plate, you might find one for sale on Ebay, Etsy, etc.
How can I contact you to see your newly restored Necchi BU Nova and similar vintage machines? Do you have a Facebook page, website, or some other place that I could follow your machine restorations? You seem enthusiastic in your work and I would feel comfortable obtaining a vintage, collectible, metal sewing machine of high quality in excellent condition. Thank you for your help. I like your enthusiasm in your restoration work. Keep it up...
If you take your foot pedal along with the power cord to a local sewing machine repair shop, they can install a new one for you. They can supply a new "Generic" brand pedal that can work with you older machine.

Nice video. Do you know the thickest or heaviest thread the BU Nova can take?
#69 upholstery weight is thickest.
