I... I thought this was a Alone in the Dark game.
But it's just Alon in the Dar...
That was so funny 😂👌🏻
10/10 joke
Clap. Clap. CLAP.
Andy that was so funny i forgot to laugh
we should have dropped a third bomb on hiroshima
"I sense someone close."
*Spin around*
"LET US TALK!"
Best part. :)
I actually like the fact that he has the same style as Jontron and PeanutButterGamer. These videos take a long time to script, make, and edit, so they only make a video every couple of weeks. The fact that there's multiple hiddenboots youtubers who have similar videos just means that I get that more of the same quality of comedy in the style I like more often.
THANK YOU!
AquaRose1997 That's a good point; I like that point.
By 'hiddenboots' do you mean Hidden Block and Normal Boots? I assume you do. Also good point bro.
+AquaRose1997 Well, Hammy edits PBG's videos , which I love, and Jon? *Whispers* Pure bliss... Normalboots and Hiddenblock FOREVER!
I totally agree. As a person who watched every single episode of Jontron and PBG, I hate waiting another month for new stuff to come out. (Although it's absolutely worth the wait.) So I watch channels like this instead. And Spacehamster ain't bad. He got some funny moments and the editing is on point. I also feel like in his later videos some of the jokes aren't as much as a ripoff of Jontron and PBG, but merely references to them.
I too was duped by the "Great RPG Giveaway", though it didn't turn out all bad. I saw the promotion, looked over the games and thought, "eh, this Alon Dar game doesn't look horrible." Looked over the others. "Jade Cocoon 2 sounds like Pokemon. I bet its fun too!" Bought them, sent in for game three -- some random JRPG I'd never heard of, but whatev free game. Alon Dar bored me to tears instantly and I never put it back in after the first try. Jade Cocoon was interesting, but didn't hold my interest.
Well, two months pass and a package shows up at my door. "Huh? Oh right, my free game. Probably crap, but might as well see if I can salvage this RPG Giveaway thing." Popped it in and couldn't put it down. To this day, Grandia 2 is still one of my favorite RPGs of all time.
Grandia 2 is definitely worth the price of two games instead of one.
Grandia?! I was expecting something I haven't even heard of
Looks like the box was supposed to be for "Alone in the Dark" but they messed up the title so someone said, eh, might as well make a game about it.
unrelated comment but your pic is awesome
Would you happen to know where the ending music is from?
Maria Isabella I literally thought the SAME THING...
10:01 I died of laughter! My wife who is now a widow had to finish typing this comment.
How fortunate that you were able to hold on to all your childhood games. Our family had a nasty habit of always wiping out all traces from the last generation of gaming in transition to the new. When we went from PS1 to PS2, all the PS1 stuff went to the flea markets. When transitioning from PS2 to 3, history repeated, only I was able to cling on to a few select games cause I had some say on the matter at that age.
Those handful that I have are games I now cherish as sorts of valuable relics in my collection, as mundane & common as they are in terms of rarity or technical value in the 2nd hand game circulation. Sonic gems collection, Kingdom hearts 1 & 2, Tekken 4 & Sonic riders: Zero gravity. They are like the last remnants of my humble beginnings as a gaming enthusiest. At this point, I barely even touch those games, because I kinda don't want to lose them. I already lost Tekken 5 to the void (Seriously, I don't know what the hell happened to it!) & I am *not* going to lose anymore of these cherished memories.
This has also made me incredibly paranoid about selling games & trading games. Unless I am damn sure that they were 1 & done deals or games I flat out hated, I hold on to every last one of my games nowadays. I know that Spider man: Shattered dimensions has been a pretty good dust collector for the last 4 years, but I know that I'm gonna eventually have those odd days when a 15th playthrough of GoW3 just simply won't be enough & I want to play that oddball GoW clone. Also, 1st game I bought completely of my own accord & with my own money? Yeah, I think that's a memory worth keeping around... And yes. To anyone wondering, it was as late as 2010 when I finally bought a game completely by myself. It took me until I was 14 frickin' years old. I mean, what can I say? I didn't get shit for cash from my parents until then).
This comment needs like, fourteen hundred and a half more likes. Not because I share an opinion with you, but because you really made me feel a huge wave of nostalgia for the SNES and GameCube sitting behind me, just from the first paragraph.
I don't know myself why, because all of my games were kept and stuff (I have my magnificent father to thank for that, he and I share an awesome love for video games) so I don't have similar experiences, however, I think just you revisiting your own experiences made me think of mine. In turn, I for some reason decide to post this comment. Don't ask me why I posted it, I've already typed too much. There's no going back! I dunno, just... shush, lemme have my moment of nostalgia.
*(EDIT: I HAVEN'T SLEPT FOR LIKE YEARS DUDE SO I'M GONNA REGRET MAKING THIS COMMENT IT'S INEVITABLE PROBABLY MAYBE I DUNNO)*

Eh. Retro games have tendancies to sometimes have to deal with alot of archaicism. Some games that were fucking incredible back in the day are just cumbersome & too much of a hassle to play today. I personally enjoyed the SNES & PS1 eras the most, since those were the times when gaming had started becoming a bit more refined, while still being a time of experimentation & forming the foundations of gaming in general, which to me defines retro as retro.
When my PS2 broke my Mom threw out all 50+ PS2 games we owned except for 1 of them i didn't even get my favorite game FF12
BombSFX if you havnt sleept in years you are dead or a zombie becuase the body cant go for hours with out sleep
i also keep all my ghames since i have a huge collection of ds games i literlly have hudread of ds games
Never start watching this video on a laptop while in the bathroom...
Jeff's face... uncomfortably close... in your crotch.
... ._.
Your a girl
Felipe serrato You're a rodent.
...or maybe I shouldn't make assumptions about who you are based on your avatar.
OuroborosChoked got em
Hay whats so wrong about liking hamster and why do you have laptop in bathroom
Can we talk about the sound Alon makes when he gets hit...?
's making me feel uncomfortable
Who groans in pleasure at being mauled?! He sounds like he just drank a nice cold cup of water or something!
+mewnani Grenade Man possibly
Maybe it's his fetish...
+mewnani Decadus
but his name isn't alon that's the sword
3 grames for the pice of 2? Sold.
Jona Willekens *games *price
CuriousCube not sure if you're kidding or not... That was the joke :P
Kain Ark Fail.
+CuriousCube hy mn dud u ned 2 lern a sens of hummer
Gary From Vault 108 FAIL
MEGA-ZINE!!!
How TF was this comment ignored for 7 years?
17:41 OH GOD HES GOING AVGN ON THE GAME
I thought the lesson was "if a game is being given away it's probably shit"
+Shadow Bri Not always. I also got a two-in-one package (back in PS1 days). One was Asterix vs Cesar (yeah, that was shit) but the other one was Street Fighter Alpha 3 and I think it's the best Street Fighter game ever made.
This was the first video from SpaceHamster i watched
hehe great memories
I loved Dog Island... It was my favorite game when I was eleven... I must relive it.
awwww
I agree. For what its based on, it was actually a solid game for the most part.
3 $40 games for the price of 2 $60 games.
Looks legit.
Lol! Its a trick isn't it. They trick the idiots who can't even do math. 3 40$ games is 120$, same with 2 60$ games. So it basicly means: 3 games for the price of 2! (But 2 is more expensive so its the exact same cost and this is a marketing trick)!
it's like projared and caddicarus had a college aged lovechild
but he's 23 haha
and dont forget PBG. he has a hint of PBG
And a bit of JonTron. JonTron is his uncle c:
M. Rose According to Spacehamster's Impossible Creatures video, he created PBG.
Nah, this is more of PB&J and ViciousAntelope. If you watch his other videos, he sounds just like the 2 of them combined,
MAKE A FULL DOWNLOADABLE THE LEGEND OF ALON DAR DAR DAR ECT SONG
ShadowBladeX U fuck ur self ppl can be who they want
Noble-ish Knight Sorry what? Your grammar is fucking horrible.
"Golden Glock" *picture of a Walther P99"
Papa Space this is why I love you... just because.
Hey, I know you.
since when is "long-awaited" a new word?
+Kaptain Kappa sins uranus
New vocab? you know 2 of those were names and the other two were Wind (pronounced awkwardly) and awaited... what?...
Hey, I remember that game.
It's actually how I came up with the last name of my alias for all my game accounts.
Alon-Dar became Alendar
And I look at DragonQuest and picked the first name of Corvus
Your story about collecting games connects with me, for the last 14 years (I'm only 19 now) I've been buying games. I never gave anything away (except for copies because my brother and I buy the same things usually and he gives me his old system games) and now I have a small collection, I can never imagine someone writing in a book for notes or giving away a game just because they grew up.
To be honest the game doesn't LOOK terrible (graphics and style I mean)
Looks like with a better combat system the game couldve been great
+mainkilla Its still bad, you'll die with out XP and its hard 2 get XP in the first place, and grinding.... Yeeeeaahh
***** Ik enemys dont resond but its hard 2 get started
Honestly the only positive thing I could say about the game. looks pretty alright
Gold Glock, shows picture of tan P99.
I love how Space Hamster is so peppy and Brutal Moose is so grumpy. It makes for a great dynamic. ^_^
I really admire the writing for this one. You set up the punchlines VERY well, which leaves for a lot of improvisation. Great work!
Did anyone else hear the Scribblenauts music play during the "amazing" bank heist?
I did.
I'm not the only one who thought the guy was moaning when he was being attacked right? xD
+kitty catcacher its too funny sounding to consider anything
Yungtown, Jeff, and Ian are some of my favorite people in the world!
I love this guys humour, and the best thing about it is....he has many more videos for me to watch
who remembers when this was called alon derp
Looks like SOMEONE likes EarthBound music.
Who was talking about me?
(raises hand)
Dude, Devil's Machine is my jam.
Nice job on the vid. Jeff. This probably my favorite piece of work you've done so far. I hope that I continue liking your videos and that you keep making em'!
That was awesome man. Best one yet. The bit with the other hidden block members had me rolling. Definitely one of my favorite TH-camrs now.
8:55 Oh my gosh, Scribblenauts background music. :D
I thought I was the only one to notice!
+Rowan Gardiner Really?????!?!?!??!?!
"THREE GRAMES?"
Honestly, that Alon Dar title theme almost gives me vibes of the older From Software RPGs like King's Field or Shadow Tower.
Spacehamster, you're so great. You helped inspire us to make videos
Who wouldnt want three grames for the pice of two?
The floating island looked cool at first but everything else was like... NO. o_o
One of my favorite Spacehamster videos.
Love the background music in the intro!
I think that you are supposed to get more party members later on, as it says, "your party has died" rather that "you have died". Maybe that is why you have to wait so long to attack, somewhat turn based like final fantasy, but in a 3d world, and the enemies don't stop attacking....... or the game just sucks.
Yeah you get a bigger party
Ah Legend of Alon 'Dar.... I uh, actually 100% this game. As in gathered every collectible item and such. Here's something funny, max level is 8 and the extra PP gathered from collecting the items along with killing everything enables you to reach said max level. Since there's no grinding, the game kinda forces you to have a set experience curve so long as you do everything. I agree the game is bad but despite that I can personally tell you everything front and back to the game. For some idiotic reason I loved the game. :/ And you kinda have to know the game inside and out as well as the best setup for all 4 characters in order to beat the game... which says a lot.
Ateren TheMetalAccountant Me too I love this game. Yes its very challenging. For I remember putting all my upgrade points into crushing attacks like mace. Only to come up against level fifty enemies that needed high cutting attacks. And more often then not I would have to reload saves and you know what it was still very entertaining for me.
It is thanks to this challenge that every time I reached a new checkpoint and was able to advance the story I felt a great sense of victory and triumph. Its like the Dark Souls of turn based combat. Anyway I probably replayed it about three time or more and still loved it.
Rock Steel Also, if you look past the cheesiness of the dialogue, the story was pretty good for its time. And probably the first time I ever heard of Changelings. The other races are unique and it was definitely empowering to have a train of 4 allies following you. Adding to the challenge is your ability to quickly input commands for each alley since the enemies attack whenever they can. (Although, Half way onward it gets easier. I have to say it's one of the few games where it starts out piss hard and gradually goes to kinda hard by the end before shooting up to impossible with the next to last boss onward in the last area.)
***** I had a blast too. Always will be a favorite of mine. White water gorge is my favorite theme of all time. With that upbeat string instrument intro.
Oh yes, I"m interested.
***** Sweet! Thanks.
3:12
Hell yeah, I loved Dog Island when I was younger.
Title screen music for an RPG always sounds like that, SpaceHamster.
fucking Ian lmaooo
You're playing the game wrong. This are the following steps to play this game:
Step 1: take the CD in your left hand.
Step 2: take a lighter on your right hand.
Step 3: lit the lighter.
Step 4: put the flame of the lighter below the CD so it begins to melt.
Step 5: take the Cd with both hands and break it
Step 6: take the pieces of the Cd and the case, and throw it into the bin
Congratulations, you beat the game!!!
don't thank me, I did it for humanity
Melficeomega
But if you want to speedrun the game, just frizbee it into a paper shredder. My PB is 1.265 seconds.
Step 4: ???
Step 5: Profit
Yungtown: *Runs all the way to Ian's apartment* Jeff is assembling the team.
Ian: *Shuts door*
I lost it.
From the first five seconds I was already flattered.
Alon Dar.... More like Alon Darnt play this game, Am i right ha ha .... sounded better in my head.
WE DEMAND A LETSPLAY!!!!!1
No we dont
About the intro: I used to walk into Gamestop, look into their giant cabinet of GBA games, and pick one based on how the cover looked (I didn't know anything about games back then but doing this introduced me to some awesome hidden gems)
I had 20 minutes I needed to spend, I have to say I really enjoyed this, thank you.
Riow Ah Riow Ah Riow Ah Riow Ah Riow Ah
Those sounds will forever linger in my dreams XD
Wait doesn't Jeff live with Ian?
not at the time of this video
Did you ask this because of the "how gay" comment?
mimisezlol
He most likely asked because when he tries to assemble hidden block Ian was in a different house. And Jeff never said "how gay" in this video.
Spacehamster you're awesome. You helped inspire us to make videos
I love your Game of Thrones poster in the backround!!!
...that IS FF's battle system...
No. No it isn't.
Kevin Dayrit T_T You choose different attacks, while the enemy attacks you.
When you're done, you have to wait until this "wait" bar is full. When it's full, you can attack again.
You can select Wait Mode, but it just makes enemies not attack you when you're in a item or magic window in a battle.
This was the battle system from FF1-FF7. You even play, bro?
TheUltimateFanBoy is battle system of almost every clasicc RPG game
zephyr2000V No. It was normal turn-based, like now.
Yes, but the enemies also have wait bars, so they can't just spam attack you
I love you pbg wait this is sh
I said that cause sh reminds me of pbg
okhalo45 Thanks for the explanation that everyone was clamoring for. The internet sat idly with bated breath as we awaited the clarification of one of history's most complex statements, and finally, the scintillating interpretation came from the keyboard of (s)he who originally formed the legendary proclamation. HUZZAH!!!
khog143 Ok that's one way to take sarcasm too far
okhalo45 Congrats you did a PBG/SH/JT joke
you know when you make the joke, then make a statement explaining it?
*****
Compared to earlier comment by Khog143 and TheSinfultictac responding to the first comment on this thread. Honestly i felt bad for the guy since they were being kind of dicks about it.
I’ve been looking for this game since this video came out and I finally found it and picked it up yesterday❤️
The "How to be better at puzzle thingies lol" part kills me every time xD
I tried sonic 06 again it was still shit
I try to give your comment another chance but it was absalute shit.
Treecko P. I tried to shit again, but it was still confetti.
It will never not be shit
This is a PS2 game?!? The same console of metal gear solid 2 and shadow of the colossus? They messed up. Bad
+Sonya Lappin how dare you insult something of nostalgic value on the internet. Don't you know nostalgia is the life force of TH-cam's 'gaming' community and insulting anything that's 'retro' is akin to the holocaust?
+Kieran Owens 😂That reaction 👏👏👏👏
Don't forget Okami, a game with the arguably most beautiful art direction ever.
This is an unrelated subject... But did anyone else see the Grandia II advertisement on the back page of the instruction manual? Now I want to hunt that game down... Great video SpaceHamster! I enjoy your comedic tone and I've been introduced to some new games through this channel! I especially enjoy the random music bits you place through out... Like a mini Easter egg to hunt haha!
8:28 - "I got PP!"
I laughed like an idiot at that. xD
I know I'm late to the party, but as a kid this was my favorite game. Once you got to the swamp level you unlocked multiplayer and that was for me at the time fudging amazing
Love the fact I see other people love this game as much as I did. We are not alone I got this game out of a giant bin of random games from Costco and played it nonstop restarted so many times with different weapons until I won
spacehamster and pbg is all i need in life
That Nife Sound effect is absolutely glorious
@ 7:01 XD I lost it!! OH GOD that's comedic gold!! (no pun intended) THAT is why I love you SH. ^ ^ Grand job!
I heard both of the Conker tracks in that video, thank you sir.
13:18, Ian's just like, "No... Not today..."
1st time watching this guys vids, hes really funny and the editing is epppicccc
This made me laugh so hard. Such a welcome distraction from my exams. :3
One of my favorite gags in Sunset Overdrive is that you can get a quest from the woman who rents the NPC quest available icons to quest givers so that they can let you know they need you to do something. You get sent to get them back from the quest givers.
I like how when Jeff talks about Ubisoft, he says Assassin's Creed, Charlie's Angels, n' some other things and I'm just thinking 'just dance.. ubisoft had something or other about just dance.'
1:38 Oh hey Balrog, didn't expect to see a image of you near gamestop
((jokessss))
The drunk like talking (slurred speech) and the panicking with slow motion when a game confuses him
I know I'm mirroring some other comments on here, but I too am jealous you kept all your childhood games (good or bad). I only have a hand full, but I started keeping things from PS2/Gamecube onward. I wish I still had all my old N64/SNES/PC games, even if they don't work anymore or were horrible. Just having the memories would be nice. (I could always emulate it I guess... but it doesn't feel the same).
COWARD COWARD COWA-*BOOM*!!! One of my favorite parts.
i was drinking water at 8:18 and laughed so hard i spat everywhere. This is awesome.
I must admit that you definitely gave this video some much needed funny i Iike it myself because it's so off the wall to say the least thanks for sharing such a wonderful ride this world's in need of funny right now♡
13:48 kind of reminds me of caius fight in lightning returns.
I dunno if this experience of mine was similar, but one day, my fam and I were buying my dad PS3 games. We got Sacred 3 (way too short) and The Dragon's Crown (Not played enough). The third game I got was Drakengard 3, and I loved it. Extremely underrated Mature rated RPG hack n slash where the only problem is the frame rate when a dragon attack happens.
I love your videos so much!
Yo SH. Real talk? Your best vid yet. Jokes were sooooooo good. GJ. GG.
I love dog island, that game ALWAYS seems to expand when you think it is going to finish.
"It's time for an adventure! Yeeeaaahhh!"
That sounds strangely familiar...
Yeah! Loving the Commander Keen music at 9:53!
15:28 I think a better audio would have been:
MMMM WATCHA SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY
Honestly, I don't even think they needed to script that Hidden Block scene. That just seemed like Ian's natural response to such a thing.
Yes finally new video from you :)
When I was really young, a teenage friend of the family played this game with me in co-op, and it was one of the first multi-hour and amazing game experiences of my young life. I often wonder if the game just has a really slow start, or if I was just too young to appreciate how bad it was, because I joined in when the party was 4 members large and partaking in a really epic quest and story.
It starts really slow.
The part at 6:50 reminds me of that one kid from windwaker, and PBG
Man you are awesome Space Hamster.
Shouldve gotten that one dragon quest game
Ahhhhhha lol i laughed soooooo much watching this video i will slide a screenshot of your video on my youtube video so others can watch cuz this is sooo funny!
I've kept all of my games throughout the years, mostly because I didn't have that many as a kid. So I'd always keep them and start them up after a few months blindly hoping maybe they'd suddenly be good. And they never were...
