Cadence of Hyrule, the Zelda rhythm game is finally out for the Nintendo Switch! Time for another classic Hammy review - something I haven't done in quite a while! What better game though than a spin-off Zelda title! Hope you guys enjoy the video!

@@stanzacosmi I mean... this is a fun theoretical question based upon a character design standpoint, not meant to be taken seriously in the slightest. Hell, from how well the pun fits and the choice of instrument, there's a possibility that at one point this idea was considered, but then the story changed due to keeping a beloved nintendo villain on brand, or maybe it just didn't pan out the same way. This is just meant to be a good practice of 'what if's XD

I think the final boss acually is a pun too, because the music during the fight is a CANON.
kryode A canon is a style of music where the melody is repeated over itself and different pitches at different times. Also called a round if it’s with singing. If you want a good one that you’ve probably heard at some point, look up “canon in D”by Pachelbel as an example.

I don't think the final fight is a nod to four swords, considering cadence's final boss in Crypt of the Necrodancer also has you playing at multiple characters at once (and is also a very similar boss fight)

OoO I haven't played Necrodance, b ut the Ganon boss definitely seemed like a 4-swords thingy to me almost, or maybe the idea just fit that premise really well, regardless it's dope!
@@SpaceHamsterGames Definitely! And if you liked Cadence oh Hyrule you should play Necrodancer. There's way more characters that differentiate from one another way more, and it's pretty difficult too. Especially depending on which character you play. Some are wayyyyy harder than others.
@@rileyfreeman4606 From my understanding, Cadence of Hyrule is generally much easier than Crypt of the NecroDancer. CotND is a *hard* game, and it really only gets any easier if you play it a lot...
@@gyppygirl2021 Yeah I blew through cadence oh Hyrule because I played necrodancer nonstop. I still haven't completed it though. The last two characters you unlock are absurdly hard. You die in one hit and die on a missed beat, and you can only use the weakest weapon in the game. And the last character you unlock has all that and the beats are doubled. It's extremely hard.
The intro is exactly what it's like after one year of marching band. I am cursed forever to walk in step.

Yes! They kept the singing shopkeeper! That was my favorite part of its inspiration. I don't own either of these games but I've watched my boyfriend and a streamer play crypt of the necrodancer a bunch and that merchant was the best part.

When I fought Octavo, I learned that poison absolutely cheeses him hardcore. He teleports across the screen then takes poison damage and you basically only have to hit him twice per mini phase

Playing as multiple characters in the Ganon fight immediately gave me NecroDancer 1 PTSD. I was absoLUTE garbage at that fight.
Given that you've now covered this and the Tingle games, you're basically my go to guy for Zelda spin-off titles at this point. But real talk, amazing video, Hammy! Keep up the great work!

As someone who has spent the last 15 years involved with the marching arts in some capacity, let me tell you, it is a curse to have to do everything in time whenever there is music playing. Like, worse than the D.K. Curse, man. I can't do anything out of time or out of step.
Also, loved the video-especially the live action bits! I know you've said on stream that filming the live action parts are probably your least favorite but they really do add a lot to your videos and are often my favorite parts.

obsidian flail is optimal because:
1. it covers long distance on both sides
2. you can move forward while covering said sides (as opposed to the spear, which keeps you still while attacking)
and 3. if you're on beat it's usually doing at least 2 damage, if not 3.
i find poison is the second most useful gemstone, though

Have you tried collecting all of the deku nuts & playing Yves? Or attacking the Shopkeeper?
Yeah I played a round or two as Yves and it's waaaay too hard for me - probably will not do it more than I have already.
Octavo is a pun on the word Octave: meaning a series of eight notes occupying the interval between two notes, one having twice or half the frequency of vibration of the other.

11:30 Actually the fight with the Necrodancer in the original game (Crypt of the Necrodancer, the indie game Candance came from) has you control two characters at once so it's not entirely a Four Swords reference, more of an extension of that fight.
