I moved to Altamonte Springs Florida in 1990. I went to the mall to by some guitar magazines at the book store. The were 2 young teens talking to a guy with long jet black hair. The kids looked very happy. When the guy walked off, I asked them who that was. They go, " Dude, you don't know who that is ? That's Chuck Schuldiner of Death". I am now, but at the time I wasn't familiar with his band. About a year later I was working at a furniture store and a fellow employee found out I played guitar . He told me his neighbor Chuck was an awesome guitarist. One day we went to his apartment for lunch and Chuck was walking up the sidewalk. He introduced me to him. He was really nice and kinda quiet. Guess he was saving it for the stage. What a loss. The Orlando Metal Community really came together for his family. So sorry he went through alot of pain before he passed away. You have great taste in guitars and guitarists and play really well. Take care.

My nephew bought one a couple years back. He defined his playing skills very well on it. He said that originally he got it reasonably priced for about, only 575.00$$!!
I was using the noise gate on my Kemper, so I can't really say. I just found it sounded very compressed and too dark in the low end and fizzly in the top end.
I remember when you could find these at just about every major retailer for $999.99 USD. Back then, I was only 16 and just started playing guitar and working my first job. Unfortunately, by the time I saved up enough to buy one of these, they were discontinued and nowhere to be found :( Now I need to scour Ebay and Reverb to find one!
C'mon, they knew what they were doing when they named it. All this cancelculture shit has bled into the rock world, when a noise cancelling stomp box cant be called a "cock blocker" and PC Rich changes the name of one of their most famous guitars. The "B"..... how gay is that. I get it, but doesnt mean i like it.
Hey Arnold!!! Awesome guitar and guitar playing. I wasn't into DEATH at the time Chuck was alive. Now I regret not getting into his group when he was around. I'm definitely a Chuck S. fan now.
I swear the necks on these things are just pure bliss, Takes me back to a time before everyone became spec snobs, A good guitar was the one that felt right in your hands, Still have my beast which has almost the same feeling profile just slightly wider i'm hoping BC Rich as a whole will take note of this review and make some production models that are a bit more up to date but still bring you back to a time when spikey guitars were cool.
I'm so glad you did this review. This guitar means the world to me. I don't play any B.C. Rich guitars, but I've always wanted this guitar. Chuck Schuldiner and Death are my biggest influence in music. You got a good one.
Chuck was not only a great player, but he had truly complete tone which you showed here. His riff tone was the opposite of say a Dimebag's, you could hear every note. And his lead tone is scary as fuck.
Wish I would've got one when they were still being made. Five years later and you still can't find them anywhere. And the ones that do rarely pop up are going for $2,500. Super bummed I missed out on these.
I love my Stealth. I picked it up for 900$ new when they first came out. It's currently in storage, and I should really get it back out and playable again. Thanks for reviewing it, and I'm totally with you on keeping it stock in order to pay homage to the late and great Chuck! 🤘🤘🤘
Having owned both this model and the 2023 import reissues, Will gladly say that if you can snag any of the newer produced models, you’d definitely be more pleased with it compared to this one. They made it much closer to the specs of Chuck’s with a better bridge, nut and build quality. Even has locking tuners and diamond inlays that don’t look like they are made of plastic. Plays and feels immensely better too. Pretty much would solve all of your gripes that you have with this model.
It’s weird you say that because the inlays and QC are what steered me away from the new models. Specifically the type of ebony they use now. What sold me on the 08’ model I have now is that the inlays look like real mother of pearl, whether they actually are or aren’t. That and the fretboard is nice dark and smooth.
try Chapstick in that nut slot. the kind in the lipstick tube, not the gel type. take the string out of slot, scrape some chapstick off with your pick, press it into the slot, put the string back in the slot. This has been working best for me for 40 yrs! it might not be perfect, but it's the best thing I've tried. Also make sure your that slot is wide enough and smooth enough. that g string is relatively straight. you should be able to get it to stay in tune pretty well.
Chuck is also a guitar hero of mine. I remember reading about his passing and how devastated I was. Death was a huge influence on me as a musician. I also had this guitar for a while. I bought it when they first released it. My number one complaint was it is not a balanced instrument. At least mine wasn't. You could not stand up with it and play comfortably. It would always neck dive. I even moved the strap pins around but it didn't help. I ended up selling it (which I really regret now) but at the time I was in a band and I really needed an instrument that would play in a live setting. You might think about adding something like that to your guitar reviews. How balanced is the guitar? You'd be surprised how many guitars fail on that level. It can look good, play good and sound good but if you can't strap it on and jam with the boys then it can also suck. That is the first thing I check for now a days. How does it hang on the body. Just a friendly suggestion. Great video and review.
One thing you can do is get the nut checked for proper string height and get the slots re-cut both at a downward angle as the headstock and also at the angle to the string post. Strings tend to get hung up on a stock plastic nut. There was 2 models, yours and the higher grade with Quad bridge and larger heastock decal.
Chuck was one of a kind for sure. He always did things his way. Even as far as his gear goes, he went against what everyone else did. A short scale guitar. A Marshall VALVESTATE amp. I mean, who else was playing an inexpensive, basically solid state amp on the world stage? That’s what made him such a badass. Find what works for you and to Hell with worrying about whatever everyone else was doing. He was a visionary and is very much missed. And such a sweetheart of a guy too. Nice axe! Resist the urge to change anything on it. Cheers!
I remember hearing the Symbolic album when I was a teenager. Album slayed me. I always see Chuck and Randy Rhoads as my top 2 guitarists of all time. killer review, brotha! \,,/

The Korean BC Rich guitars are really hidden gems. I have a Pro X Eagle and I play it more than just about any of my other guitars. very nice, I've been debating for over a year what my next guitar will be and after watching you play it I'm sold on the Stealth. It has such a crisp sound and the hardware is excellent plus I love the 24 fret wide neck
@@saltpeter7429 I got the digitech the drop pedal and it works fine. If you go further than like 4 halftones down then you may notice a bit of output delay.
Have the X2N in my LP, it's just killer and preferred over my owned EMG's. Nicely done review and nice tone Arnold (and for the sake of Chuck's legacy: nice guitar)!
Finally got me one!! I’m getting it for 600$, it’s coming in a month.. damn that’s a long time but it’s gonna be worth losing sleep playing night after night!! Death song after death song! Death is my favorite band and chuck has inspired through his words, it’s a shame I’ll never be able to meet him but I’m glad he existed and made such a huge impact... R.I.P. chuck
Sounds killer. Get a bone nut. Grover rotomatics are rock solid. I did that to all of my guitars. If it has a string T I replace them with string rollers. For now you can file the current nut. A needle file or a thin nail file may open up the nut so it does not bind. Chuck didn't use super thick strings. The nut may be cut for thinner G strings so a thicker string will bind, and when you bent it may not slack back into place. Good luck!!
ArnoldPlaysGuitar your tuning problem isn’t related to the nut or bridge, it’s literally the string itself. Use a wound g string and it will solve your problem. That unwound g string is super thick which is causing your tuning issue.
Hi. On short scale guitars I use 10-60 strings. It gives it that extra toughness and heaviness in the lover range. Also makes it perfect for drops. Thx for the video
Beautiful cover dude. Agreed on all points. I’ve swapped pickups a bunch, and settled on an Avedissian Railsplitter in white, to nod to Chuck’s white X2N he had in one of his. I may change the nut someday, maybe the tuners too, but I’ll never part with it. Essential to have from a tribute to a hero musician. Thanks for reviewing! Let the metal flow! \M/
I hope that sometime in the future B.C. Rich will do a limited run of other versions of Chuck signature such as his green back up or the alter headstock model that was used for the sound of perseverance and the fragile art of existence
Id second what some others have said in regard to upgrading the bridge to the BC Rich/Kahler quad bridge(chrome), it may help with keeping the tuning more stable and its actually the bridge they shouldve put on this guitar considering it was on Chucks actual Stealth and on the USA Custom models they made of the signature. Upgrading the nut would help too.
This definitely is a worthwhile instrument, especially as an inspiration. I had to change the bridge on mine, the stock one is just so flimsy... Put in a nice schaller bridge, bone nut and there you go... Tuners are fine with the better nut and bridge. Personally I found the fretwire to be a little too low. I would have preferred extra jumbos, so that will be a job one day when the frets are worn out- bigger frets, and stainless steel for sure. It's an expensive business but when you own a guitar like that you want it to be right for you.
As much as I love Death and really all of Chuck's work, I was never a huge fan of his guitar's aesthetic, sounds phenomenal though. Also, FANTASTIC playing, you absolutely nailed Zero Tolerance.
man that's killer I still own my bc rich mockingbird I bought in highschool(1986) and still have two X2Ns in it its the perfect metal guitar for me playing more oldschool styles
That is a great guitar, I own one as well. Only mod done was swap the bridge for a bc rich quad bridge, took care of that g string issue. Killer playing🤟
Dude, the one thing I wasn't prepared to hear was the solos and the vibrato at the beginning! It's like i was listening to a Death record and to The Man himself... wow! If I wasn't watching, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Regarding the guitar's comfortability - do you mind sharing how tall you are? I found that plays a big role in how comfortable instruments feel in people's hands. Thanks for the review, great stuff!
Hey Arnold, I found the re-issued model of Chucks legendary guitar. This one has 2 DiMarzio's and so switch on it as only visual difference compaired to its precedent model. Maybe you already made some content about it, if not; B.C. Rich Stealth Legacy Black Onyx is the name it goes by. Greets from (H)(B)elgium ;.)
Nice review! A die-hard death fan here also. And I also have the same guitar (and 3 x Marshall Valvestate 8100 😂). What do you think about the intonation of your guitar? I can't setup the intonation right no matter what I do. B-string is the worst. Very frustrating but I'm used to it. Also, check out my death covers from my channel!
Anarcissos Why do you have 3 Valvestates? Unreliable amps? That's what I've heard but I'd like to get one. I have an original 1984 Stealth that was made at the BC Rich custom shop in LA.
The brightness issue with this model has much more to do with the pick up placement is SO close to the brigde than the pick up itself. When you got a pick up so close to the bridge, there's nothing much that can help you, maybe a super low sounding pick up.
just bought one used for 350eur. killer feel. the neck dive is annoying, but a few weights on the fin should help. the biggest issue was that over the years, most probably due to the soft wood, the bridge tilted towards the neck, so I guess I'll have a luthier re-drill the holes for the bridge and insert a harder wood to keep the bridge stable (and also change the bridge itself for intonation). but all in all, even with the issues- the guitar's amazing to play.

got two of those, both under 700. One has the fret marks on the 24th fret and the other one doesn't :)
Will get mine soon, the only mod that I would consider is swapping the tuners for locking mini rotomatics.
24th fret guitar face, how is that not a meme yet?! Great video brother
After a year of searching Ive got a beauty for 450€ & I was watching on the right place and the right time!
Lucky man!!
I hope that sometime in the future B.C. Rich will do a limited run of other versions of Chuck signature such as his green back up or the alter headstock model that was used for the sound of perseverance and the fragile art of existence
I'd love a signature ignitor like he used to use in the Symbolic touring cycle
Id second what some others have said in regard to upgrading the bridge to the BC Rich/Kahler quad bridge(chrome), it may help with keeping the tuning more stable and its actually the bridge they shouldve put on this guitar considering it was on Chucks actual Stealth and on the USA Custom models they made of the signature. Upgrading the nut would help too.
Sounds amazing
This definitely is a worthwhile instrument, especially as an inspiration. I had to change the bridge on mine, the stock one is just so flimsy... Put in a nice schaller bridge, bone nut and there you go... Tuners are fine with the better nut and bridge. Personally I found the fretwire to be a little too low. I would have preferred extra jumbos, so that will be a job one day when the frets are worn out- bigger frets, and stainless steel for sure. It's an expensive business but when you own a guitar like that you want it to be right for you.
You should get a quad for that beauty! It makes a lot of difference, the nut is also a nice idea to impeove
As much as I love Death and really all of Chuck's work, I was never a huge fan of his guitar's aesthetic, sounds phenomenal though. Also, FANTASTIC playing, you absolutely nailed Zero Tolerance.
man that's killer
I still own my bc rich mockingbird I bought in highschool(1986) and still have two X2Ns in it
its the perfect metal guitar for me playing more oldschool styles
If I wasn’t watching the video, I would’ve thought that was Chuck playing, good job dude!!
Harrison Shaw that compliment brought a tear to my eye. Thank you, bro!
ArnoldPlaysGuitar No problem man! Loved that review!
That is a great guitar, I own one as well. Only mod done was swap the bridge for a bc rich quad bridge, took care of that g string issue.
Killer playing🤟
I wish I had one, it’s hard to find when you’re left handed
Anarcissos truthfully mine seems to be okay as far as the intonation goes. Never had an issue with that.
Anarcissos Why do you have 3 Valvestates? Unreliable amps? That's what I've heard but I'd like to get one. I have an original 1984 Stealth that was made at the BC Rich custom shop in LA.
Nice covers bro
Hé is my Guitar hero its been almost 19 years since you past rest in peace Chuck schuldiner you facking legend
