Unfortunately I was trapped in the corner of the restaurant. They held a Zombie Ritual to extract the 1,000 eyes that they were going to serve me, the philosopher was there too, wasn't tolerating shit tho
I remember this video! We usually get a laugh out if Paul’s wrong genre licks and riffs especially with metal guitars and gear (do not let him touch an 8 string), but this was actually spot on! Good job Paul; Death, Morbid Angel, Immolation etc style riffs were all over this. Best guitar review he’s ever done. Except mispronouncing “Schuldiner”. The Korean Stealth is ok, but needs upgraded tuners and a better bridge like the USA model. Mine kept losing the G and B strings tuning until I swapped those. FWIW the nut and setup were not a problem.
triumphant39 ya just give up people. It is wat it is. Not like theres two well known men in metal with the same name. Shit even just saying chuck in a metal reference is plenty for one to understand.
The riff from 4:08 to 4:40 is actually quite good. He pinches off harmonics on the low E string ala Zakk Wilde syle and it has a heavy vibe. The clean riff also has a cool, creepy vibe going. That pickup has an output of 520 mV (a Fender single coil is around 200 mV) which will push a tube amp into OD very easily. Great guitar and I see why Chuck used this almost all the time. RIP to one of our metal grandfathers and keep up the fist and head banging in HIS name! \m/ \m/
I had this guitar for a couple of years... its perfect for Death and other similar stuff. Its just a really good quality and well made guitar. I only sold because I wanted a more versatile guitar.
actually i do. Chuck has been playing the BC Rich Stealth since the 80's but the Xiphos is a relativity new model. the Xiphos is a rip-off of the stealth. i meant to say that Xiphos looked like the stealth and that the stealth is an older model guitar.
Why does his guitar show in inlay on the 24th fret and the one on the Guitar Center website does not? all the specs seem to be the same except for that...
To me, Chuck is the best Lead guitarist who ever lived. He wrote the most amazing melodies for every solo, and he played lightning fast runs as well. I haven't heard a single guitar player who has both melody and technicality all in one package. The only guy to me that comes close is John petrucci.
That has already been done, I can create another if you would like however, also I own one of these guitars now so I could do it on the same guitar even. If you would like.
@Nathervap Don't settle for a limited signature model - go semi-custom with a Carvin V200 or Ultra V. Diamond inlays are an option; Floyds are too! You get two pickups standard which can handle clean sounds too. You can make up the difference in gain with a pedal or an amp. The optional M22SD pickups play pretty hot. And I'ld bet you could order one with a single pickup as well, even though they don't advertise that option.
I think shortly before the Stealth Ibanez had a similar design. I'm not sure, though. The old x-series by Ibanez are quite rare nowadays and I can't find much information about it.
So is this the exact setup Chuck used as far as pickup? It doesn't sound right to me but then again you might not be tuned down and not using the same amplifier setup he had as well.
@Nathervap It's possible but would be a lot of work, BCR makes the Stealth Pro which has a floyd but also has two EMGs and is finished in light blue instead of black
actually the jackson warrior looks like it, the stealth has been around a long time. then came similar shapes like ibanez xiphos, then the jackson warrior. but the stealth was here first.
@Nickhead87 for the past 2 -3 months, all my material has been in that tuning, and most of the covers my band play get moved to that tuning (since most of them are in standard).
@zupperm According to Jane Schuldiner on the Empty Words tribute site to Chuck, it's a German name pronounced like 'dear', so it's more like Schul-dea-ner
Hey,im thinking about uppgrading my Godin model SD,I want to be specialized into metal/hard rock and that kind of stuff....I wanna know which model is the best from BC rich...the wartribe/warbeast/warlock? thanks!
@MichalSlayer It's an X2N, it has a 4 conductor coil and I've personally had one wired for series, coil tap, and parallel switching. Regardless though, the clean never gets all that great but sounds fantastic dirty
That's where they got the name 'death' metal from, so credit where it's due. RIP Chuck. Toying with a customshop Stealth bass - that would be something else!
@Sadszci jeez its only a demo, and this is the guy that does all of the Guitarworld videos. You should know that if youre on their channel. So stop dissing
In my opinion, the thickness of a neck, unless it's like Stratocaster super thick, doesn't impede too much on playing. Either Schecter or Agile for me!
Has anyone been to the Schul-DINER yet? I hear the food's great.

lololol
Gergő Soós Lol perfect comment!
Unfortunately I was trapped in the corner of the restaurant. They held a Zombie Ritual to extract the 1,000 eyes that they were going to serve me, the philosopher was there too, wasn't tolerating shit tho
What a PRICK !!! Hehehehe, blesses for noting that, cuz I was going NUTS over it !!!
WELL annoyed ...
but the music sucks..........
This is the official Chuck.. SchulDINER... ohh geez. This guy is fuckin' killing me!!
haha
He's like that group of people call the band Nervauna and others call it Nervahna (Nirvana btw) lol
Haha.. my the guitar player in my band LOVES Nirvana!! I call them Nerveene(South Park type voice)
I like saying Nirvaahhnee myself lol
Hahaha.. sounds funny that way!
+Dem Ise He is mah favorite, just like Dahrv Moose Teen.
"....If you're familiar with Chuck SchulDINER...."
No, I'm not. I'm familiar with Chuck Schuldiner, though.....
Chuck School Dinner
Technically he said "diner" lol
Man I really need that guitar....
It is pretty damn rare, that's for sure:(
I like how this is one of the first vids that appears when you just ype in ''BC Rich''.
That really says something about Chuck's influence.
I remember this video! We usually get a laugh out if Paul’s wrong genre licks and riffs especially with metal guitars and gear (do not let him touch an 8 string), but this was actually spot on! Turns out the way we pronounce it is also wrong. Don't be too quick to hate, people make mistakes.
triumphant39 ya just give up people. It is wat it is. Not like theres two well known men in metal with the same name. Shit even just saying chuck in a metal reference is plenty for one to understand.
This guy can't be any less metal
Doesnt matter he played some sick clean and distorted riffs
The riff from 4:08 to 4:40 is actually quite good. He pinches off harmonics on the low E string ala Zakk Wilde syle and it has a heavy vibe. The clean riff also has a cool, creepy vibe going. Chuck's tribute guitar - WHERE ARE DEATH RIFFS???
Никита Костылев no authorization they have to play actual riffs
the way he pronounced "Schuldiner" was driving me crazy
Pat O'Brien's demo was better
Paul: minirotomatic grover tuners
Cameraman: Nice Strap Button
I had this guitar for a couple of years... its perfect for Death and other similar stuff. Its just a really good quality and well made guitar. I only sold because I wanted a more versatile guitar.
Seriously, no excuse for mispronouncing Chuck's last name. None whatsoever.
I mean, I wasn't really sure how to pronounce it...but I would have learned how before making a video about him xD
chill out. i bet it was meant not disrespectful
@@SavageBambi many metalheads are not the brightest ppl...
@@Joelvete6 oh so that’s why he mispronounced it you don’t know what you’re talking about
lol diner
he is alive... in our hearts, his music will live on
Ever time i hear him say "Shull Diner" my soul dies a little bit.
@MrNeosantana
Just so you know, the X shape was pioneered in BC Rich's Stealth series. Jackson got the shape next, then Ibanez.
They could at least clean the guitar
its full of finger prints and shit
I wish Chuck did a review of his own guitar.
actually i do. Chuck has been playing the BC Rich Stealth since the 80's but the Xiphos is a relativity new model. the Xiphos is a rip-off of the stealth. i meant to say that Xiphos looked like the stealth and that the stealth is an older model guitar.
"If you're familiar with Chuck SchulDINER, then you'll know I have no idea how to pronounce his name."
Excellent review,RIP Chuck!
@Rattlehead1818 It's actually "shull-dee-ner". There's an interview with his nephew on TH-cam, look it up.
14 yr old post !!!!
I have chucks sound down it took me a while thx man !!!!
Why does his guitar show in inlay on the 24th fret and the one on the Guitar Center website does not?
all the specs seem to be the same except for that...
1:55 Where can I find this song?
Can someone tell me the first song he was playing at the ''clean'' review of the guitar
The clean stuff sounded good but I got chills when he played metal, sweet guitar
for chuck's sake
Not a bc rich fan but! That's a pretty cool one
lol it was late and i messed up on the distinguishing between the two xiphos models haha.
but ya it does depend on style
Mine doesn't have the fret markers at the 24th fret, and neither did Chuck's, so what the hell is up with this one?
chuck played on transistor amps not tube
Bozn0man on a marshall valvestate vs100 which had only one tube on the preamp
Bozn0man, yeah or solid state amps.
@@puertecitos6888 thats the same thing
@@KevsanBamse , i know it is, i just said that because some people dont know the other name for it.

Getting this in a week! I'm so excited!!
That has already been done, I can create another if you would like however, also I own one of these guitars now so I could do it on the same guitar even. If you would like.
in this guy's defence, Germanic surnames are kind of hard to pronounce
What song is he playing with the clean ?? Anyone know ?? I really like it !!
This is a good review. One of the few I like from Paul...
Where do u even find this guitar
clean riff reminds me of a song, does anyone know what the first riff is?
was he playing something from slayer?? cause it sorta sounded like seasons in the abyss at the clean part

@LichKingSkullWart Actually, he pronounces it "Shuldeener" in the recent interviews. Thus, I guess both me and theguitarworld guy were wrong.
So is this the exact setup Chuck used as far as pickup? It doesn't sound right to me but then again you might not be tuned down and not using the same amplifier setup he had as well.

1:38 what song? is it a song?
what song its that first part from
@Nickhead87 for the past 2 -3 months, all my material has been in that tuning, and most of the covers my band play get moved to that tuning (since most of them are in standard).
what is the name of the song that the first lick is from
when he played the clean sound, what was he playing? was that improv, or a song? if song, what song?
for death metal and old school thrash, sounds awesome.
What he is playing at the start? Please tell me.
Anyone knows the song he plays on clean? or is it just an improvisation?
man i wish i had this guys job. RIP chuck
Love this guitar.
its nice its neck seems exactly like a schecter syn custom.. how much?
Yeah, I believe it is. Epic looking guitar, I would love to play one. :D
@zupperm According to Jane Schuldiner on the Empty Words tribute site to Chuck, it's a German name pronounced like 'dear', so it's more like Schul-dea-ner

paul never ceases to amaze me with the amount of stuff he can play lol sounds good though for a BC Rich and normally im not a big fan of them
whats the song he plays at 1:50 ???
I Really Liked The Clean Part, It's Very Dark And Ominous, Very Black Sabbath-ish
i think you could explain better your opinion about the guitar because for me it sounds really nice for a simple guitar
Maybe paul could play some DEATH maybe
Oh wait i forgot
He cant play guitar
speaking seriously, he cant because of legal reasons, his music is copyrighted and they(or other businesses) cant play any songs by any bands
Hannibal Kakihara He could if he stated all rights belong to death..
blackjackmcgack He never plays any copyrighted music unless it's for a specific video.
blackjackmcgack Dude is playing. Everyone should play. Fuck your criticism. Stop being a bitter bitch.
Go to his review of the VMNT, he plays a wicked solo at the end. I doubt you could ever do something even an eighth as decent.
fair enough. it's all about preferance. plus when there's guys like Jeff Loomis playing them, that speaks for itself.
Oh man... This was the good o´l' time when guitarworld actually had some good amps when they were reviewing great guitars.
I cringe every time Paul tries to play metal riffs...why have they not gotten someone better by now, I will never know.
Brandon Noga 2 years later and this comment still makes me laugh.
hey does anyone know what the guitar is tuned to
@MichalSlayer It's an X2N, it has a 4 conductor coil and I've personally had one wired for series, coil tap, and parallel switching. Regardless though, the clean never gets all that great but sounds fantastic dirty

Toying with a customshop Stealth bass - that would be something else!
Paul Rock. And the guitar too.
R.I.P. Chuck
@MetalGuitarDoctor Check the second page of comments. I already corrected myself.
It only does two things, Clean and Dirty. What else is there?
actually the xiphos looks the stealth, chuck used the stealth body guitar years before the xiphos came out
Bro, his name isn't pronounced [Shule dye ner]. It's [Shull din er].
Schul din er
His own nephew pronounces it "shull-deener."
+Kzoo Detector Eric Greif also said it's pronounced this way.
shooldunder
@78guitarboy Thanks for the reply, though I'm not quite sure where my original comment asking the question went to.
Cant wait to get mine
don't understand why people hate him? His little improv solo was fucking awesome.
I honestly think most the complainers are jealus dont you agree? I enjoyed the solo as well. I always enjoy his videos.
Because he can't pronounce Chucks name
"He IS the singer, songwriter, founder and guitarist of the band Death" Yea he's alive
someone tell me what he is playing at 1:37
whats that clean tone song??
awesome guitar!
for that clean thats where that neck pick up comes in, but it sounds great for the dirty stuff very metal, just what i like!
what was the clean song?
awesome guitar
What about the veggie side?
@Rodrigo3141
yea, that's what i ment.
@Sadszci jeez its only a demo, and this is the guy that does all of the Guitarworld videos. You should know that if youre on their channel. So stop dissing
there is a 7 string 27 frets Xiphos, it's a custom though
wow look at that paul is actually playing some decent riffs in this one
i think its prounced as skull diner? as i speak nepali ..
In my opinion, the thickness of a neck, unless it's like Stratocaster super thick, doesn't impede too much on playing. Either Schecter or Agile for me!
@TheAbsorbant It isn't - Eric his manager said it was "Dine" "-er" not "Dinner"
check out the review he did for the dave mustaine dean guitar, he plays a fast solo there
