Obviously I would never ever wish that fate upon the turtle, and would do anything possible to prevent that situation from happening, but that doesn't mean that there isn't still a dark humour in the situation as it occurred. The funny part isn't the likely death of the baby turtle. That part is sad regardless. Rather, the humour is in the contrast between the joyous and amazed narration from the woman, the sudden surprise of the dog looming into shot and eating the turtle, and then the dog's amusingly guilty expressions afterward and the way the woman tells it off. Those sudden contrasts and the surprising and differing outcome from the expected is what creates the dark humour. Like anyone else, I wouldn't see any humour in someone just killing baby turtles for the fun of it, in fact I would see it as intolerable cruelty.

I'm amazed at how this video combines absolutely terrifying and dangerous things with situations where someone just gets off scot-free. I definitely enjoy the second one more, because it's adrenaline-pumping and funny, but the second one, even though it's scary, it's still important, it's sobering and reminds you to pay more attention to safety.
We on TH-cam have the luxury of seeing only the fail videos where people have near-misses.. but for every near miss there are a significant portion of vids caught on tape of blatant death and no-luck. Obviously I would never ever wish that fate upon the turtle, and would do anything possible to prevent that situation from happening, but that doesn't mean that there isn't still a dark humour in the situation as it occurred.
The funny part isn't the likely death of the baby turtle. That part is sad regardless. Rather, the humour is in the contrast between the joyous and amazed narration from the woman, the sudden surprise of the dog looming into shot and eating the turtle, and then the dog's amusingly guilty expressions afterward and the way the woman tells it off. Those sudden contrasts and the surprising and differing outcome from the expected is what creates the dark humour. Like anyone else, I wouldn't see any humour in someone just killing baby turtles for the fun of it, in fact I would see it as intolerable cruelty.

I'm amazed at how this video combines absolutely terrifying and dangerous things with situations where someone just gets off scot-free. I definitely enjoy the second one more, because it's adrenaline-pumping and funny, but the second one, even though it's scary, it's still important, it's sobering and reminds you to pay more attention to safety.
We on TH-cam have the luxury of seeing only the fail videos where people have near-misses.. but for every near miss there are a significant portion of vids caught on tape of blatant death and no-luck. Millions of these vids in fact. If someone based their view of the world off the seeming luck and fortune as is shown on TH-cam, it would be undeniable proof that a God is there protecting them.
