I've always struggled with finding the right layout for me, but I think I prefer horizontal over vertical. I guess it would also depend on the planner as well, lol! Oy! Some days I can't choose. Thanks for this informative video :)
You make such good points about all the different kinds of layouts! After years of using A5 planners with monthly, weekly, and daily layouts, I have learned that all I really need is a month-at-a-glance calendar with weekly layouts plus supplemental pages for notes. I no longer use a printed planner for this reason--I use a blank notebook in a smaller size (A6 or Pocket) and draw my own lines to separate the days for each week. I really enjoy creating my own set up and adding some stickers or washi tape to make it fun! Also makes it super cheap and allows me to change things up without guilt! I just found that I really don't need a lot of space to keep track of things the way I used to, as my life has "simplified" with kids out of the house and retirement around the corner! But I still love planners and have a need for them!
@@marachristian8726 yes ! I'm thinking of buying a couple of stalogy notebooks instead of a bunch of planners, because of the flexibility. It's expensive to planner hop all the time
I loved seeing all the pros and cons of each layout explained. (I already know I prefer vertical layouts since my work is very appointment/time-based. But I liked your explanation of how to use monthly spreads - it gave me some new ideas.) Your content is so enjoyable!!
First you need to think about what needs to be in the planner and then the layout choice will be easier. - For my job I need a monthly calendar to plan project milestones and a running to-do list/notes area. I don't need a weekly layout because my calendar is on the computer and changes daily. I use a monthly booklet with a plain notebook. - For my home I need a weekly layout but not a monthly. However, a large chunk of each day is taken up with work so a vertical or timed layout is wasted. Dashboard makes the most sense. But also I need to be able to add and remove and reshuffle items, so I need something on rings or disks rather than being bound. My home planner is a personal wide rings with dashboard-style weeklies and a lot of different layouts for finances, self care, pet care, car maintenance, chore tracking, et cetera.
Thank you this was a very informative video. I like vertical layouts, but that dashboard layout was interesting...I like that as well, which planner is that one.
This is so true. I realize that a monthly spread is more important than I thought and the daily pages aren’t as useful as I thought. Even when using them for journaling, I found I wished that they were just blank grid pages without dates. I’m going to be going with a horizontal for 2025 (Just Scribble) and possibly a grid notebook from Sterling Ink for Journaling.
Hi Brittany 👋🏾 always coming with the information.. thank you 😊.. my planner is set up like the 1st one but I think I want 2025 to be a time block style one (vertical layout) 😎.. I might miss the space tho.. May need to do a few tip ins lol 😆... not 100% sure yet.. I do like the dashboard spread as well.. loving the nails 💅 very cute.. I'm not a daily planner page girl.. I I have some pages and I tend to only use them on the weekend... I do like a future log but it's for reflections n I love it. I guess I have a hybrid planner I have a few things ❤
Good video brittany. The planner must suit you, not the other way around. This year i bought a Cousin, but i found i just only need either the daily or the weekly with the monthly pages.

I did bujo for a long time because of the flexibility. I’ve found I need more structure right now with going back to university
@tessapullen4003 Good idea!

Thank you. I'm glad that you found the layout that will work for you the best!
For work I need dailies and notes (A5 size). For personal I need monthlies and notes (TN size).

I struggle with layout. I like it vertical one day and hate it the next. 😮
I think it depends on what you want to use your layout for. Usually that is what makes the difference for some people.
For work, I will live and die by a monthly and vertical weekly. For personal all I need is a monthly and day free

Thank you! Have you considered the Hobonichi Day-free? It is undated and has only monthly and daily pages (but not for the entire year though).
Great video and breakdown! Thank you!
You're welcome! Thank you for watching! 😃
Any recommendations im looking for a planner that is weekly and fits in my pant pockets or my shirt pocket something passport or pocket size

👋🏽💚
I love horizontal layout. Vertical doesn't work for me for some reason. I drive myself crazy with finding the right planner. Lol😂
Lol
