    Three takes on the classic Muff; Flange, Rotary, Multi-Head Drum Delay, Vibe and Phase. Everything you need to take a trip to the other side of the moon, or, as I have, a little further. The Dark Side is a monster pedal. You can tell the Mod/Delay section whether it's before or after the fuzz/distortion and you'll find Expression Control as well. Too much fun for one pedal.
    Rather than just add to the plethora of Strat/P.Floyd-type demos that are already out there, I decided to use a Lollar equipped Jag custom replica built by Jim Mac in Queensland, jacked through a HIWATT Custom Shop 50 and into some WEM/Fane IR's courtesy of Fractal Audio's X-LOAD LB-2 and Axe-FX II. This makes for a formidable combination that sounds great but doesn't blow the walls out. The backing track, obviously, is a homage to classic Gm Floyd-isms. Rock on and check out a Dark Side if you have a chance.
    Also: OUCH! Bad grammar/spelling alert at 1:46. I'm normally better than that... my apologies!
    Guitar: Deluxe Tones Custom Jag replica with Lollar Jag pickups.

    Mic: N/A
    Camera: Canon 60D (me) and Nikon D5100 (pedal)

      Brett Kingman in all seriousness. It’s a great piece of music. And I can study the shit out of it. Lots to think about how the pedal works and performs.

      Brett Kingman I’ll definitely come back to this video before we release any other combo pedals or a DSv2.

    The sonic beauty and mayhem you crank out of the pedal is really amazing. Then to witness you get a whole slew of classic tones at will... This is why Brett is at the top of the heap. Perfect Demo sir.

      Hey Robert - was just singing the praises of the dark side to another commenter on here. I emailed Craighton a while back about getting the dark side fuzz as a stand alone pedal - if you ever end up doing that I will gladly be first in line!! Love all your work!

    I had a Drybell Vibe Machine on my wish list, which is a great piece of kit, when I got this pedal. The Univibe on this was good enough to cross the Drybell (which is more expensive) off my list, and that is essentially one sixth of what this pedal can do!

    Every time I hear a demo of that pedal I get GAS even though I have every effect in it somewhere on my pedalboards! I wouldn't even use some of the options, especially the delay! But the 'vibe sounds so cool and the order switching button adds so much versatility. Aaaarrgh!! :D
    Lovely demo btw. There's no way you can show off everything the 'Dark Side' can do in less than eight minutes (or less than thirty if you wanted to get comprehensive!) but you still managed to bring out some of its best features.

    Nice demo fo the AXE FX and Fractal LB-2 . ..oh yeah, and the Keeley Dark Side . . :) , , , I bet you could do a great Fripp/Eno demo of the same rig.

    • @BrettKingman
      @BrettKingman  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ooh, there's an idea. To be fair, the LB-2 is just the link between the amp and the IR's - which the Axe was running, along with some delay here and there.

    • @derekbells
      @derekbells 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jaketone why did you sell it?

    • @jakeisonhere
      @jakeisonhere 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Derek I sold it because I had all the analog stand alone modulation effects and Echorec delay pedal already so it was a bit of a waste to have the dark side with one at a time modulation or delay option. That’s no comment on the quality of the mod and delay on the dark side though - it’s totally awesome. The fuzz is my favourite fuzz ever though and I miss it!

    • @derekbells
      @derekbells 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jaketone thanks for the reply. Does the fuzz shaping switch give you alot of options? Can it get crazy rips and arpeggio sounds?

    • @jakeisonhere
      @jakeisonhere 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The shaping switch is really great - helps tailor the fuzz to your base amp tone (eg. with a mid pushed amp you might like the scooped setting etc). Its just a really really great muff fuzz. I had a triangle muff clone, a mojo hand iron bell and a JHS muffaletta and the fuzz side of the dark side had better clarity while retaining that huge muff thing. Robert if you are out there I would hand over my wallet for the dark side fuzz in a standalone pedal - no tweaks required!!!!

    Right out the gate , the description of your RIG run Down is totally foreign to me , I'm a simple man , I figured running to a combo amp , with a dash of reverb straight through to the dark side pedal into the front of the amp .. I'm afraid of High Tech . Fane ? Wem ? IR's ? Fractal ? X load ? AX FX2 ? what is this ???? you added $10,000.00 to a $300.00 pedal . So where's the Kemper Profiler ? I got a lot of learning to do . You sound AMAZING !!!!!
