    Once I become a wood worker and not just a collector of wood working tools I may be a hoarder.

  • @TheTgranber
    @TheTgranber 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

    hoarder. In my defence I do use almost all my scraps until they are too small for anything useful. The system goes like: project - jig - scrapwood project - spacers - burned. AND I cut some of my own lumber on a bandsaw. When I get my dryer working I will be swimming in wood. Maybe. Thanks for all the good fun you provide!

    • @TimberBiscuitWoodworks

      I like that progression, sounds like a good system to keep things organized.

    it always amazes me when i hear words like "twenty one of thirty sixth of an inch". i guess always using the imperial yardage does make this apprehend-able, but it always does seem a tongue twister to be thinking this in your head and then saying it aloud. amazing.

      Yeah it can be quite a mouthful Haha. In the shop I hop between imperial and metric pretty frequently.

    Hoarder. I have that “you just never know when you will need ……” mindset that is common with many dudes. There will be that two or three times a year when I pull something from the scrap bin that confirms my habit,………..as I add more to pile than I ever take out.

    Hoarder - very, very much a hoarder. Like, I have a problem kind of scrap hoarder. I does pay off quite a bit, though, as I've located and used those "wtf would I do with a 3" piece of maple - oh well" scraps, and plywood. On that note, you absolutely CAN glue plywood edges. I've actually made a 9'-long x 5" section this way, and did not start with a full sheet. Used a lot of those scraps that day.
    Thanks for including shop builds. It reminds me that I do need to keep up with my own shop's evolution.

    Hoarder, but mostly with sheet goods. I cut and dry my own lumber, so tossing cutoffs in the shop stove doesn't hurt too much. With sheet goods though, I don't like burning them in the stove since they're full of glues and resins. Even if you can't use the scrap in a project, you can use it as a backer to prevent blowout or to setup tooling. I do have a set of rules that anything less than x inches wide and/or y inches long should be tossed. I don't follow my rules.

    • @TimberBiscuitWoodworks

    Hoarder. I'm very much a newbie in the woodworking space, but I have saved scraps from all my previous projects in case I could use them elsewhere. And guess what? I have used them!
    I also just moved, so all my old scraps had to be tossed, but that just means that I will need to keep all my scraps from my new projects.

I also got the straight edges that clamp to the work piece, those are POS. The edge rulers were recommended, but I never use those. And their red corner clamps are completely awkward.
