In today’s video, we’ll be tasting Jones Soda’s original Nuka-Cola Quantum collaboration with Bethesda from the release of Fallout 4, comparing it with the more recent GFuel Nuka-Cola Quantum collaboration, and making Nuka-Cola Quantum from scratch, courtesy of The Official Vault-Dweller’s Cookbook from Fallout and Bethesda Gear, all at Takahashi's Power Noodles in Diamond City. We'll also talk about Nuka-Cola Victory and its parallels to the release of Nuka-Cola Quantum a decade ago. For the past 10 years, I have been more of an Elder Scrolls and Skyrim fan, but have dabbled with the Fallout Series (I hope the Fallout Amazon Series is good by the way, looks good to me so far but I can't wait to see more of the New California Republic!).
Nuka-Cola Quantum was created in October 2076 under the codename "Sea Lion" by the Beverageer Division at Nuka-World. It was a byproduct of Project Cobalt, which began in 2076 when Nuka-Cola Corporation engaged in weapons research under U.S. military sponsorship. The team found that a strontium-90 isotope derivative, originally developed for military ordinance, created a bright blue glow that worked well as a food additive when adjusted for consumption (although several taste testers did not survive). The lead Beverageer, Rex Meacham, gave the new drink formula its distinctive name.

The setting of Fallout exists in an alternate timeline that completely diverged from our own timeline after World War II. From this split all the way up until the Great War in 2077, a technologically advanced retrofuturistic atomic age representation of the 1950s dominated the culture and society of the fiction of the Fallout series. In particular, the United States was dominated by the continuation of a corrupted American Dream and an overly suppressive form of American exceptionalism. The science-fiction anthology Worlds of Tomorrow, published during the Golden Age of Science Fiction in the 1950s, heavily influenced this representation.

just came here from tiktok and i think it’s safe to say ill be sticking around for more content like this, even the elder scrolls stuff sounds really cool!
Hey - great to have you over here! Hope you enjoy, I've had a lot of fun making these types of greenscreen videos lately.
Honestly that first bottle is probably the most authentic Fallout experience you could have. An old bottle of soda from many years past in questionable condition that only managed to survive by chance.
The most lore-accurate version after all 😂
I always knew Blueberry Lemonade Jones Soda was our Universes Nuka Quantum.
Fun fact. I currently work at target, and the nuka cola quantum promotion being bought up by target employees is partially responsible for the current policy in place. We now have to give customers a 15 minute grace period after the doors open to have a fighting chance to get new releases
That is a fun fact, I'm not exactly surprised 😂
I love how when he said he wished the G fuel one had carbonation I was instantly like “he should put it through one of those soda stream things” and then all of a sudden he busts out the soda stream
We're on the same wavelength 🌊🧠
Fun fact Bethesda sent a very limited amount of special nuka cola quantum to TH-camrs and streamers (mxr play/mods is one of those people)
DANG IT I can't say I tasted every single one now... 💀
It must have been very *immersive* for him
Doesn't TH-cam always find a way to fuck him over and bring his wife to cry on camera?
Bros rads are +10000000000 right now
If only I had some Rad Away...
10 trillion rads
Oh, my god, I have a unique story to go along with this episode. I have the cookbook as well and made Nuka Cola Quartz (the vanilla one). First time I'd actually made soft drink syrup and scraped vanilla beans etc. It came out great and I made spiders with it (floats if you're American). Anyway, the recipe makes a LOT of syrup and I didn't know what to do with it. Well it just so happened a few weeks later was my partners birthday and I decided to bake her a cake. Just using a pre-made mix. Betty crocker I think, strawberry cake, possibly vanilla. But the important part is it was a 'super moist' recipe and as I'm making it, I figured this would be a great way to use up the syrup. After all it's essentially just sugar and vanilla.
So I add either one whole cup or two, I can't quite remember but that's a lot of liquid to add to a mix so I didn't push it too far. Anyway as it turns out, it was the best cake I have ever made (to date). My partner loved it and I was worried it would come out like a slurry or not cook properly but no, super sweet, super moist cake that tasted fantastic. I dubbed it my "syrup cake" and I need to make it again some day.
So yeah, if anyone makes any syrups from this, I don't know if it will work for all the flavours but you can use the excess in cakes and it'll go great.
That sounds super good! I agree, the soda recipes make a lot of syrup (not to mention the serving suggestion of 9 tablespoons to 1 cup of seltzer water). I gotta make all the other Nuka-Cola recipes now - my partner also really wants to try the Mississippi Quantum Pie from the cookbook!
You made a Quartz Nuka-Cake
I’d highly recommend mixing the gfuel quantum with either club soda or any other carbonated water instead of just plain water, it makes the flavor so much better
Totally agree - I took the long way around in this video by carbonating it after I mixed it 😂
Wouldn't the required shaking make it flat?
@@corvidconfidential8826 you can combine it and then carbonate in a club soda machine
Bro no way you only have 970 subs. I love your style of narration. It’s very evident that you spent a lot of time on this video
My thoughts too. It's good quality filming, audio, and like you mentioned: Narration. And the editing is also decent.
Thank you! I'm glad people are enjoying the videos, I'm just barely starting to scratch the surface of the stuff I want to make on this channel...
@@quenchquestdrinksgreat video man!
Just finished EP1 of Fallout then stumbled on this, I hope this channel grows infinitely, peak entertainment
Hey thanks, I hope so too! Glad I was able to get it out in time for people to enjoy after the show 🎥
Nuka Quantum is my favorite version of Nuka. It’s got some cool facts behind it. It actually glows because it contains the Isotope Strontium-90, which if consumed enough can cause bone decay.
Rex Meacham was truly a madman in his pursuit of flavor 😂
It’s weird hearing a decade old and anything after 2012
*insert clip of Matt Damon aging 40 years in 3 seconds*
By the Nine Divines, a Fallout video! The quality and effort you put into making this one is just as amazing as all your other vids, thank you for your great work
Whether I ended up in a parallel timeline or another kalpa, I am unsure - either way, it was a fun one to shoot and edit! The keying was tricky with the blue beverages...
Honestly the nula cola quantum gfuel gives me a mainly coconut flavor with a hint of pineapple and berry.
Definitely recommend for the fallout fans! I recommend putting it into a nuka cola quantum bottle for the best experience
I had no idea there was going to be a Fallout show, and when I saw it pop up in my Prime feed... I already "knew" it was going to be terrible. 99% of video game to live action film adaptations are awful, and I didnt see this being in that 1% of good ones. Well well well.... after watching 2 episodes last night, I have to say it may be the best live action adaptation Ive ever seen. Some animated shows are great, like the Castlevania show, but I was thoroughly impressed. Sure, they had to put some stuff in there for "Modern Audiences", but it wasnt enough to be bothersome. Great acting, really good effects, super violent, and most importantly, its very faithful to the game. If you havent seen it yet, I cannot recommend it enough
Just finished the finale - I really enjoyed it! It is incredibly faithful to the established universe but also adds interesting lore throughout.
Hands down was one of the best video game show to ever drop
Wow my little brother just recommended it to me today I might watch it
Gottem in the first half
Hell yeah the show fucks hard
Unironically a good deep dive and review.
Thank you! More to come...
I was unprepared for a Baloonshop reference in 2024, you sir are a man of the highest culture :D
Mixing the handmade and Gfuel version seems like the most legit version for sure, that energy drink B-vitamin weirdness seems nicely representative of the more sketchy ingredients on the ingame drink
just found your channel, and honestly with the quality of the content you deserve to be much bigger. I'll definitely be sticking around for more
Appreciate it! Just finished planning videos through the summer - this channel's gonna be busy...
I've made multiple batches of the Quantum recipe. I have always used 6 tablespoons. It has a perfectly good amount of flavor, in my opinion.
I second this… 9tbsp was a bit much
So I went with the 1.5oz:1 cup of seltzer water
And it looks cool in my quantum cup
I think you're definitely onto something!
this was so unique and such a good video!
Thank you! I've been experimenting with a lot of greenscreen stuff this year and I think it makes the videos much more immersive.
Considering that the Fallout Cookbook standard Nuka Cola doesn't have any caffeine either, it's still accurate. Because twice of zero is still zero.
now THIS is a big brain take 🧠
13:30
Big cup yes that’s why all Nuka-Cola bottles are 12 ounces.
They fit in the same 12 ounce Mexican Coca-Cola glass bottle.
The specific ratio they provide though adds up to 12.5 oz (4.5oz syrup, 8oz seltzer) before ice; depending on how much ice you add, you're gonna need a 16-20+ oz cup!
Of course, I think It's best super chilled and around 3oz syrup/9 oz seltzer; no ice required and an even 12oz!
The mad scientist mixing absolutely fits the vibe love it lol
I can only aspire to be as mad as Rex Meacham!
The nuka cola victory they released with the show is peach mango flavor. They are Jones' Soda. Managed to grab a couple at Fred Meyer in Washington state. That's Kroger for you east coasters.
And King Soopers out here in the Mountain region! Haven't seen it there, but might've scooped some on the website finally...
Great video! You’ve inspired me to bust out my Vault Dweller Cookbook and test the recipe out myself! Subscribed! 😁👍🏻
ALSO: It would be so cool if you tried to recreate the different Nuka Cola drink flavors!
Thanks - welcome to the channel! I'll try to have at least one more Vault Dweller's Cookbook video this month and another in June 👍
wow im astonished by the production value of such a small channel! im looking forward to seeing new stuff from you :)
Appreciate it! The greenscreen started as a bit on the gaming channel, but eventually took over this one too 😂
I've the mysterious reduced bottle content happen to me, once.
I had bought a large bottle of nice beer and left it in my car for around year..... Somehow, through the cork, it had reduced volume by half!
It tasted normal, when I opened it.
If u want it to "glow" use Tonic water instead(seltzer/club).....and a black light[tonic water has a enzyme that reacts to UV light]
Someone told me this on TikTok too! The only thing that gives me pause is the bittersweetness of tonic - I might dial back the sugar and zest in the syrup if I used tonic.
I made a batch too.....can't remember opinion but b4 it was gone I bottled some w/ tonic water just have to fabricate a black light base 4 it(+I ordered "labels" 4 the bottle pics here....if I can)
Is it possible to share images/pics?
Subbed not only for the great content but the moment you made an old school Balloonshop reference. I felt like I randomly stumbled into a long lost brother or something. Hadn't heard somebody reference Balloonshop in years. We are no longer whippersnappers (WHIP - SNAP)
I sometimes go on a Balloonshop binge, just for old times' sake 🎈 I forgot that I was even referencing them in the moment, it wasn't until the edit that I was like "where did I pull that line from? Oh yeah..." Definitely not the first time I've done that on this channel 😂
What a great and weird deep dive! Didn’t realise I wanted to know this much about Nuka Cola in the real world. Thank you for a great video! 😊
Of course 😂 beverage deep dives are sorta my thing, fictional and real!
awesome vid bro
Dang, sweet channel. Can’t wait to check out more vids
Thanks! Lots more on the way 👍
#blessed by all the Nic Tracy content lately. Looking forward to some Quench Quest Fallout streams!
Thanks Alina! I just gotta stop filming / editing long enough to do so 😂💀
you should be wayyy more popular especially for fellow video game enthusiasts. This is the first video i watched of yours and it was absolutely awesome the soda stream was the cherry on top! I subscribed and have notifications on i can't wait to binge watch your videos keep being awesome man👍
Appreciate it! Got a bunch more in the works...
i am going to made the recipe tomorrow thanks for the recipe!!!
Of course, enjoy!
Amazing video, keep up the great editing, really enjoyed this episode
Thanks - working on a ton more!
Should have edited the radiation meter going up with every sip
would've been off the chart by the end 😂
Great content! New subscriber!
Thanks - welcome to the channel!
Should’ve cosplayed as Art for this for bonus points. Gonna go buy Jones soda now.
Bro ifyou want them to sponsor you, you must hide their name when you use the product or else they 100% will use the free advertising loool great vid :)
came here for the fallout, very excited to go through the catalogue and see the elder scrolls drinks! Obv would love more fallout sodas
While the next video will be another elder scrolls one, I also talk a bit about the other ones I'm working on and spoiler alert: you're in luck...
Ngl I've come to the conclusion that quantum probably tastes like Baja blast. Just add in some blue food colouring and bam, quantum
Getting Baja Blasted to the Quantum realm 🚀
nice video! a fun time
I don't know if this was intentional or just your normal handwriting but the label on the nuka quantum syrup looked very much like the notes you find in fallout and I really enjoyed that. Felt very lore accurate and I can't tell if it was intentional lol
I'm going to claim it was intentional (it wasn't 😂)
@@quenchquestdrinks lmao
Balloon shop mentioned, I see you
GFuel did a nice job with the color.
Give this man some subs
What Andrew said ☝️
Your tongue picks up carbonation as a taste. So you're right
i hope you grow man
Thanks -me too!
When I do GFUEL-Quantum I also like it carbonated. Tastes much better then just tap-water. Mixing it with Soda makes it really more Cola like.
Totally agree, I took the long way around by carbonating after mixing 😂
Expanding to other Bethesda properties? Neat!
All in blessed Todd's honor!
So where'd you get the radioactive material to add to it
A man's gotta have some trade secrets... ☢️
Welcome vault dwellers
Why don’t you have more subscribers this is great 😂😂
Appreciate it 😂 a month ago I had half the subscribers, so I'm just excited to have some more folks around!
mix the gfuel, jones and home made for what i imagine to be the closest to the real thing, gfuel being a replacement for the strontium 90
Exactly my thoughts!!
Not sure how many know but the Nuka cola victory flavor is likely Jones soda crushed melon soda or their orange flavor soda, either way I know this because a few years ago my local grocery store chain carried most of Jones soda's flavors and I was able to purchase and taste most of them
Just got some (finally) - package says it’s Peach Mango!
@@quenchquestdrinks oooh that's interesting 🤔 , wasn't expecting that
To get more carbonation from your water carbonator, the most important thing is cold water. Get it fridge temperature or even colder. The colder the water, the more CO2 it can hold. This is science.
When you shake it up, you're not mixing the CO2 into the water, you're exciting the CO2 in the water, and releasing it into the bottle. When you release it and hear that hissing sound, that's just you letting the CO2 out of the bottle. Either don't shake it up, or if you're convinced that shaking it up does something, leave the bottle alone for a while at high pressure, and after a few minutes, the CO2 will dissolve back into the water and the concentration of CO2 will go back into the water. The concentration of CO2 in the air above the water will approach equilibrium with the CO2 in the water. And it does this more efficiently at colder temperatures (above freezing of course) and higher pressures. Do the waiting with the bottle in the fridge so it stays cold.
You should also fill the bottle so that the water goes above the plastic nozzle. That will ensure that the highest pressure CO2 hits your water right away.
Thanks for the tips!
How did you get "Shall we have dinner?"
何しましょうか? - "Nani shimashou ka?"
Nani - What
Suru - to do, conjugated as "shimasu"
Shimashou - to do together with someone
Ka - Ending to signify a question.
Full sentence translated - "What shall we do?"
But weirdly, that's not even what Takahashi said.
He said "Nani shimasu ka?" which is "What are you doing?" Even the game translated him wrong lol
Thank you for this - I was second-guessing the subtitles because it didn't exactly sound like it was written, but given that I can't speak Japanese I trusted them to caption it correctly.
When I used Google translate on the subtitle text, it gave me "Nan-ni shimasho-ka?" = "Shall we have dinner?"
Appreciate the correction!
Those dings are at such a loud tone. Was the entirely necessary?
Noted and I got you - I've been thinking they might be a little too loud still, I dropped the volume on the source file once already so I didn't have to do it in the edit as often but I'll tweak the file some more moving forward! Appreciate the feedback.
Nika quantum has to taste like blue raspberry and you cannot convince me of the contrary
No reason it couldn't be in the secret formula somewhere!
So I'm catching this like a month later because I'm on a big Fallout kick (my youtube feed just started showing me some Fallout videos, so I just went along with it). If you are serious about trying to make the drink glow, it shouldn't be too hard to make a base with an LED or two that can be attached onto the bottom of the Jones soda bottle and be a bit discrete. Unfortunately I don't know enough about glass blowing to attempt to make my own rocket-shaped Quantum bottle, but maybe someday I will get around to that.
I really wish Bethesda's versions they've made in the past were food safe... I've thought about getting them anyways, testing the surfaces of the material for anything actually hazardous, and sanitizing them for good measure!
fun. video.
No idea why this video got recommended to me, but im not complained and even more so to see your also from good old Wyomin.
I'm glad it got recommended - I think the old algorithm is finally starting to figure out what to do with my videos 😂

@@jjsmith7707 the channel's still small enough that I try to reply to everything if I can - appreciate it!
Huh, well it's a good thing I never got into fallout til now cuz those jone bottles are like... literally sold in dollar trees all over. Never bought one tho but they looked pretty cool.
As long as it's not flat and stale, it's pretty good! 😂
@@quenchquestdrinks ON MAH WAY TO FIND SOME TRUCK STASHES THEN, TALLY HO
I think it should taste like coconut-blue raspberry
Straight up Sonic slushie flavor, I like it 🔥🔥
Mix it tonic and it’ll glow in UV light
The 30 dollar 2 pack is actually not official, and is just a reproduction bottle from some random people who bought the normal soda and slapped a new label on it. Still looks cool, just cant justify 30 bucks for them
Awesome video!
Thanks! It's truly unjustifiable, you could just go get a Berry Lemonade Jones and label it yourself...
I love the G-fuel version. But I will try the cook book version.
It's pretty dang sugary, but tasty nonetheless!
Wait, how are they radiated when they were sealed in glasses for over 2 centuries?
I *think* radiation can permeate glass if there aren’t any additional protective materials in the glass’ composition 🤔
👍
Alternate history and post-apocalypse are both fantasies lmao
Yeah I mostly meant that as it's a fantasy setting with the other two descriptors as subcategories...
The new quantum tastes the same as the normal jones. it's just the label thats different

Elaborate 🙃
FNV > 4, why is everyone jumping to 4??
I agree (voiced protagonist wasn't a great choice IMO) - Fallout 4 makes for a good higher-def background for greenscreening video content though!
Cuz it's the newest. F4 gets flack because it pales to FNV in many ways but if you've never played it (or any BGS games before) F4 will be amazing. My buddy had never played any BGS before and he absolutely fell in love with Starfield, got downright defensive when I criticized its shortcomings
