Dry erasers have the abrasiveness of a 3000 grit sandpaper. Mr. Clean is Severely Abrasive on Products. "It's ALWAYS best to spend more time polishing with a mild polish than less time with an abrasive one!" What is recommended would be Herman's Simply Clean Collectors Silver Polish, Blitz Silver Shine Polish, 3M Tarni-Shield Silver Polish, Twinkle Silver Polish or simple handsanitzer with a celluouse sponge.

Do you know what happens if people don't clean the silver cuban curb link chain necklaces'es ?

  • @misterjwestcoast

I use tarn x and it makes my chains look brand new in like 2 seconds. I only have to do it once every few months maybe, and I wear my chains daily and I sleep in them. I’m definitely gonna try the magic eraser technique next time.
    Thanks Eddie.

Ketchup works too and won't leave micro scratches. Just rub it in and let it sit for a little bit, the acid in the tomato will break down the oxidation. Rubbing a little baking soda paste on it helps too.

I think sponge will leave many hair line scratches on the chain, just as it would on a car.
I'd much rather use the baking soda and boiling water in aluminium foil method.

It's not oxygen attaching- it's actually sulfur, usually as hydrogen sulfide in the air. The process is called oxidation, but not because it reacts with oxygen. It's because when the silver ions react with the sulfur to form silver sulfide (the chemical name for the tarnish), the silver loses electrons to form the Ag-S bonds. This is oxidation, oxygen itself has no effect on tarnishing.

Onyx stone is from the land of Israel made by god, basically… and it’s pretty lucky stone matter of fact it’s such a holy stone that even other religions like the Buddhist use it to make beed bracelet and necklace out of it .. also thanks for the info ! and does it work with solid gold too ? , will it also rub off the gold plating by doing this ? Probably only works good on solid silver pieces eh …
