Just bought a sliver 10mm figaro from you guys yesterday. I’m even more excited after seeing the comparisons in the video. The silver goes the hardest out of the four in my opinion.
I have owned nothing but gold for about 2 decades but I have seen some pieces made in silver that look amazing. And they pair great with stainless steel watches. Great video had no idea the actual process of stuff
My favorite is just plain 925 silver. No coating to wear off and re plate every few months. I'd rather just give a few swipes from a polish cloth every few weeks and be done. My 12 year old flat curb chain still looks brand new after all these years.
@@jin8684How weird to say “gold is more sentimental and symbolic” That’s like telling someone else they’re wrong for saying that they have special memories associated with their grandma’s cooking or that a certain movie is particularly significant to them. “You’re wrong for subjectively valuing the things you value, and I, a stranger on the internet, know better.” Sounds like you just need to be right.
Fan of Gus Villa but there is a little bit of misinformation here. Copper is not really what makes silver turn black. 999 silver (fine silver, pure silver, etc) turns black over time as well. For people with oily skin it can actually turn pretty fast. Being nit picky here but just a heads up if you chose to go with a 999 silver chain it will still turn black over time.
Indeed. Silver sulfide is what the tarnishing on silver is. It can be removed easily by covering the chain in baking soda, wrapping it in foil, then boiling it for a few minutes in some salted water. You’ll never get it back to the 100% frosted factory white, but still looks basically brand new after cleaning it this way.
I tend to use rhodium plated silver for chains, and earrings due to its hypoallergenic quality. My friend had difficulty finding an ear ring that would work well due to her skin sensitivity and the rhodium plated screw back worked perfect.
thank you for being so informative. i continue to watch and learn so much from your videos. i hope to one day buy a nice custom made cuban silver chain from you instead of the machine made ones i currently wear. thanks again...
I have a question bro if a silver chain is dipped in rhodium and a white gold chain is dipped in rhodium also do one or either last longer than the other on like the rhodium cuz gold is more precious than silver does it last longer on
2 Cubans and a Figaro from GVJ in the last two months. Vids like this one are the reason why. Gus is the Columbian Pied Piper of Miami when it comes to handmade chains😅😅
Unfortunately 😢 I have been forced to move away from yellow gold to silver for safety reasons!!!! Silver draws less attention. I am now starting to appreciate the beauty of silver 925. (Shiny form). Thanks for this video, it certainly answered all my questions regarding why silver tarnishes and the better options (namely rhodium). Thanks. I never heard of palladium before 😮. A quick edit...silver is to me the best looking of all the metals, i agree with you there. You should have gone into HOW the average silver chain owner can maintain their own chain....either with silver polishing cloths, dishwashing liquid and water, baking soda or a more involved method involving baking soda and boiling as given in another comment. This commentor stated the real reason why silver tarnishes. Since 925 silver is such a beautiful metal, i think you should do a video on HOW to maintain the silver as best to its original finish....removing the silver sulphide. You actually doing the process ( before and after) would be great👍. There are a few ways that people swear by, but one must be better than the other. I think that would be awesome for us silver lovers.
I’m a silver fan but I wish i could afford gold.If you buy gold you can’t go wrong it’s a good investment. Gus, thanks for your channel. I love watching you talk about these beautiful metals and giving people school about it. God bless you. Keep up the good work, Saludos.
Gold would only be valuable as an investment in jewelry if your paying a good price and in most cases most jewelry is sold at 3-4x the actual value because they have to add in the cost of labor, overhead and other expenses which the metal itself doesn’t account for, so at that price you would buying it would take far to long for the value to appreciate to its true worth unless your buying at the right price.
Gus you mentioned 5 precious metals. Please make a video in wich a jewellry is not deeped but in stead is solid made from Rhodium and Palladium (Platinum obviosly) and please Snow the final prices for them.
sheeshh ima stil stand by white gold looks the best 👌🏼 also love the palladium but rhodium finish is the way for me on top of white gold n I actually like that yellowish white tone it gets after a while. that way u know you have a real gold peace rather a silver so you/others can differentiate the peace easy as well , very right about some whitegold aloys are more expensive then others are my named brand white gold peaces dont have that yellowish tint 💯🔥🙏🏽
What size mm is the machine made white gold cuban? The website only has silver and GOS machine made Cubans. Will you offer machine made cubans in gold?
@@wooferjr169 That makes sense for handmade pieces but I don't understand why machine made chains from Italy are way more expensive than similarly sized gold ones. You would think having it made by machine would help keep labor costs down.
Hello Gus, could you please do a segment on the difference between a fake gold Rolex and a real one, because I always wondered why can't a jeweler just test the gold to check the authenticity of the watch, why are some of these watches fooling some jewelers? Are some of the top quality fakes being made from real gold? anyways thanks again, great vids!
My Opinion is this: Rhodium plated jewelry isn’t worth getting. Whether it’s on white gold or silver, having to pay $100 or more for a rhodium re-dip is not ideal to me, especially for silver. Yellow gold or plain 925 Silver is what I would always choose. Stainless steel and rhodium plated look similar. The main reason for why I won’t buy stainless steel chains is because the links aren’t soldered and the production quality isn’t good.

Silver is king!
Now you need to see my Silver Tiger pendants. They are gigantic

I started wearing mixed metals together due to buying a stainless Cartier tank and it looks fantastic.
White gold 100% just because. And to take it further 18KT white gold 💯 I like the extra heft of 18KT on the neck.
Man I love this guy's videos. Amazing quality and very educational

If it gets tarnished no one is going to question that it's real silver and not steel or something
Get your money up, I bet your favorite will change 😂
@@jin8684 Silver, to a lot of people, is a representation of freedom itself. It's symbolic and sentimental to many including myself.
In that case, Gold is way more sentimental and symbolic lol

that's a fact that's why I stack silver 💯 don't wear it. lol 🙏🏽
Use toothpaste to clean silver. Works great
I love my silver chain but don't wear it that much because of the maintenance part.
Gold and silver are classic wear plus their stocks go up for their compounds
White gold Wednesday! I normally wear my white gold chains on Wednesdays. I call it white gold Wednesdays!

You would be better off buying actual 24k gold at a precious metal exhange i.e APMEX

AHHH Bro, I've been trying to keep myself from buying an 8mm or 10mm Silver/Rhodium chain from your website, and then you post this!
Silver is the most reflective metal.
Does dipping/plating silver in platinum do anything to make it easier to handle, and, if so, is it cheaper to do than rhodium?

With platinum being $908.22/ounce and gold $2488/ounce, why are platinum chains always more expensive than gold?
Maybe because Platinum has a higher melting point than gold, and platinum is a harder metal to work with vs gold being a more softer metal.

Just picked up a silver 10mm 24in fucking 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Plane silver and rhodium all day
how many catalytic converts do i need to get to coat my 24in 12mm chain
it's a cuban
Enjoyed the vid like always my dawg.. Where my chain at tho?? 👀 Order 2314
Why did Rhodium Spike so high in 2021?
I'm a strictly 10k fan.
I would like to buy a silver 12 mm change with you guys. Can you send me the link?
Buy off 5heor website bro
Why do people like stainless steel?
Cuz it’s cheap and looks great
If someone was SERIOUS about getting a REAL chain worth SERIOUS money, they'd get it in iridium.
Bro I was about to order the 8k chain today but my daughter took the phone from me
One ounce of rhodium was $30,000
Platinum is better
Only Silver Crew!
He forgot about platinum
Theirs nothing wrong with 925 Italy

Your website is showing up as insecure and not private
