- My ferrets like to dook a lot and so does my polecat, all my fuzzies are noisy :D
Sorry this weeks video is late, I haven't had any internet as I've been moving house.

@@maccaroni3694 yes. At least mines are. They do not bark like a dog or anything. BUT if they're really scared, like they fear their life is in danger, they will "bark" and it will surprise you how loud it is. Very rarely does that ever happen though
@@maccaroni3694 I guess it depends on the ferret, or how happy and excited you get em, OR what they're getting into. We never realized our first ferret was a dooker until my daughter started running back and forth with her, making this high pitched screeching eeek-ing one day. She dooked her a** off every time after, but only when she was playing with us. Couple others only did when they were ultra excited. Dooky is a rare occasion. It's like witnessing a shooting star, rare and awesome. Other than that, they've all been quiet, besides when they were rolling around in the crinkle bag pile or knocking things over. ☺
docking is a sign of a happy/exited ferret. maybe you should get another one - they usually do better in pairs.
@@danisml83 I trial-ed another little guy for a bit. He was a little bit of a dooker, but Dooky still didn't make that much noise. We had just moved in to this new place and I didn't have the time I thought I would to potty train him. I was really hoping he'd follow Dooky's lead. I figured he already had the groundwork all laid out for him and he wouldn't even have it think about it, but he went everywhere except the pads. So, I bawled my eyes out and took him back to my sister and his other ferret family. I'm still bummed out.

Mine never dooks unless she gets scared, I got her from my cousin who was neglecting her and she has some health problems but I wouldn't trade her for the world, she doesn't play around like most ferrets but I still love her just the same, I named her Raiden
@@VoodannynPetz well, unfortunately my baby girl passed. I'm completely destroyed, she stole my heart and now she's gone and I'd do anything just to see her again, I bought her a Halloween costume and everything, I'm still grieving
My grandma got me one I named rocket and he is a lot different than her but he has helped me grieve so much

It's just the lack of colour that makes the eyes red. Albino ferrets see just as well as normal ferrets (it's a common miss-conception that they're blind), but as has been mentioned before, ferrets in general have a really poor sight

1. Guinea pigs are rodents, ferrets are not! Do not compare the two. 2. They sound absolutely nothing like guinea pigs, and quite frankly ferrets would have your guinea pig for lunch considering the fact that ferrets are obligate carnivores, meaning they can only eat meat. Guinea pigs are total herbivores. And guinea pigs sound is "wheek wheek", nothing like dooking. Ferrets make several sounds, dooking is their happy sound.

My father used to live with someone who had ferrets... and sadly I don't think I've ever heard them make this type of vocalization. Granted, I was an incredibly young child (less than 10, I think) during that time. Memory does degrade over time.

I have a ferret nation cage, let mine out over 6+ hours a day, have rice pits, play with them, and they still don't dook. ;-;
Some ferrets are just not as vocal as others ! My male ferret dooks a lot, but my female ferret doesn't really make sounds, even if they're both really happy ferrets.

Ok. Mine are al fixed so once they all got used to each other and worked out dominance fighting became almost nonexistence which I'm glad for.

I just got a ferret, he's 12 weeks and I think I'm in over my head
I've been trying to get him use to being handled and trying to teach him not to bite, sometimes I think it's working then he'll bite all over again. It feels like one step forward two steps back at this point.
also within the first 24 hours of having him he managed to get himself wedged between to pieces of wood in the couch and we had to use a crowbar to get him out.
I think I have humanised my ferret too much, she doesn't even react to other ferret sounds :( she's still my little cuddle bug though

for the last week since last Tuesday my two girls r dooking like mad and wont play anymore. they just walk around dooking. they r both desexed in early may this yr. the eldest is dragging the 8 month old around and dookingis it mating time and they are picking up on it or wat. my girls wont play and pounce anymore. has anyone had this before odd behavior?
