  • In this video, I check out JLCPCB's assembly service from one of China's largest prototype PCB manufacturers. I show how to use it with EasyEDA and check out the finished boards I got. This project is sponsored by JLCPCB, $2 For Your PCB+PCBA, Register to Get $54 Coupons: jlcpcb.com/IYB

By the way, I am working on a website. Check out the description, and you can see it. It is still a work in progress.

I designed 8051-based PCBs and wrote firmware in the 90's. Recently (retired) and was looking for layout software that ran on llinux. I ran across Easy EDA and liked it (except for the Chinese datasheets) . Then I found out about the affordable assembly price, so I'm getting interested. Thanks for the review, it was very helpful.

Here's a cost-saving tip for you - on the BOM review page, for extended parts that are likely to be available as basic (i.e. resistors, MLCC caps, etc) just click on the search icon (magnifying glass) for that row. It will give you a search UI and allow you to check "basic parts only". If you find a basic version (usually just by another manufacturer) you can replace it right there. On a recent order, it was an extra $5 per extended part (per order, not per board) but like you showed in this video - it can add up fast.

Yeah I didn't realize that until after made the design. I would have been more motivated to change the parts if I was paying for it but it was sponsored and JLCPCB provided them.

I can also recommend JLC-PCB's PCB's and assembly service. I have used them for both and been quite pleased with the quality and especially the pricing.

$32 a board seems really expensive for a simple mcu board
