    The way double sided SMD soldering works, one of the sides is the "main" side with most of the components on it, and the other the "back" side with much fewer. The "back" side is manufactured first. But after the stencil solder paste is applied and before the component is placed, there is another robot that puts a little dot of epoxy glue (usually yellow or red) under the middle of each component. When the PCB is soldered, the heat kicks off the epoxy besides soldering the components in place. But it still needs to cure, and then the boards can be flipped over, and the main side can be manufactured as normal, without all the back side SMD components succumbing to gravity! But it's still a finicky, lengthy and comparatively expensive process, so it's generally avoided for most products, and also doesn't combine well with batching.

    Very good video i have used JLC PCB a few times for various pcbs for projects and am very impressed with the quality and speed of their service. On the next project i will be looking at using the SMT assembly service as this board has a large number of surface mounted components some of which i will have to fit by hand as LCSC don't stock those parts but using the assembly service will significantly reduce the time the project takes to complete. This guide has helped me with the process. i am very surprised at just how low the prices are for these boards.

    These are troubled times for the TH-cam creators indeed. The demonetizing policies, the algorithm, the sponsors are now more demanding and the plethora of other channels doing the same thing are really affecting the quality of the contents. I understand there are bills to pay but long gone are the days when TH-cam was THE creator's platform, nowadays TH-cam punishes creators and viewers alike.

    This is great. You should really start selling populated PCBs on your site. I'd definitely want your soldering iron. Maybe the ATtiny console, too but I'm too lazy to order the PCBs and components myself. Sell them as DIY/educational kits, there shouldn't be any problems with certification nonsense. You could even probably get other electronics online stores to order a few.

    Hi, I have just started using Eagle PCB. Could you tell us what items you put on each gerber layer and why? By this I mean, They have a top copper layer and what should be put on this layer? Pads, holes,..... and why they are added to each layer. I have tried to send files to JLCPCB and have had some issues with the gerbers. As they are a sponsor of yours, I would think this would help them and your subscribers. Thanks

    How is customs handled for JLCPCB? Just wondering, because customs free shipping will be dropped next year in Austria and in all of the EU in 2021. I wouldn't mind the additional tax on items, it's only fair considering when buying locally you have to pay it. But the additional handling fee that the postal service will collect (10€ here in AT) pretty much kills China orders for me.

    Just a question, if you accidentally used a generic resistor and changed the value, would JLCPCB at least warn you of that, or will you receive the pcb minus a resistor.. So in other words, we have to be VERY careful to make sure all the components are in their SMT library?

    • @linagee
      @linagee 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Think of it like making a recipe. If you tell someone to add a pound of salt instead of a pound of flour, they're going to blindly follow your direction and they'll hope it comes out ok. (It won't.)

    • @Jadinandrews
      @Jadinandrews 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@linagee thanks but that's not really my question, though it was similar. I have no question that jlcpcb will add components to your design even if you made a mistake. My question was whether jlcpcb will at least warn you that components on your Gerber do not exist in their SMT library. I've seen videos since asking this question where components were left off the board (without warning) because the wrong outlines were used so that answers my question. So you need to be very sure if your design before submitting it, it would be quite annoying to order 50 boards with as many SMT components only to find a single 0402 resistor was omitted for technical reasons that weren't obvious to the designer.
      I'm about to submit my first SMT assembly order just finalizing the design. So I'll order a small quantity first to make sure it works and all components were added.

    • @Jadinandrews
      @Jadinandrews 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@linagee so in baking terms my question is, if you asked someone to bake a cake that can't weigh more than 500g, and then the recipe calls for 1kg flower, would they just omit the flour or warn you first.

      From 2021 onwards (and even worse from just next year on here in Austria...) all parcels from outside the EU will have to go through customs. I wouldn't mind the additional tax, it's only fair considering when buying locally you have to pay it. But the additional handling fee that the postal service will collect (10€ here in AT) pretty much kills China orders for me.

    I have spent Rs 5500 to get my 5 Nos of PCBs that includes all the custom clearance and igst. Don't go for JLC PCB. China may give u 5 PCBs in 170Rs, when u receive that in India you have to pay Rs 5300 more. I have all the proof of payments.
