I do find it interesting that in the later events of the Black Mesa Incident you can can start to see how civilization is falling apart. Lots of human vs. human fighting. I can imagine the Black Ops teams' kill orders against HECU being given from a gov official as a sort of "back ally deal", where most other military board members might not know and they did it to save their own ass.
I think it has to do with the HECU poor handling of the situation, which is understandable given the circumstances so the government basically says screw it and send in the unofficial clean-up crew

This is where the story telling of OpForce succeeds in presenting this elite force, as superior to the H.E.C.U, but as we find out in the penultimate episode, where Adrian stumbles upon a fierce battle beteen the Race-X creatures and B.Os, that not even this elite force can hold their own against the unending tide of aliens. This mirrors the events we also witness towards the finalle of the "Forget About Freeman" and "Lambda Core" chapters, where slowly, the marines who appeared to be in control until now, begin to break and loose their ground to the aliens.
It's hard to tell if Black Ops really went hostiles to HECU because in Half-Life, you dont see them fighting each others, the moment Freeman got captured, the two Marines are next to the black ops. For Opposing Force, it's hard to get conclusions because nobody knows if it's cannon or not
Us goverment logic in half life: mmmm yes, let's send in elite units to kill our own HECU despite the fact that most of them have evacuated and instead of making the black ops hold the alien invasion while the black mesa team attempts to close the portal, we'll nuke the facitlity destroying every last person who knows how to cut the connection between earth and xen. They had to expect HECU to also witness the effects of the resonance cascade while on their mission (they knew shit went down bad which is why they were ordered to kill all personel). So either they were trusted not to reveal it to the public or they were planned to be killed off from the beginning. We know the first option is not true because the soldiers had no idea what was going on beforehand (as we see in OF intro), and because Black Ops were sent. So, if remaining hecu were planned to be killed by black ops, why didn't they sent only the black ops in the first place, who were trusted and not care about any witnesses (apart from scientists)? Is it because they were fewer in numbers so they used hecu as cannon meat to be killed off by aliens first so it's simpler to just kill the survivors by black ops? But then they can't guarantee that the hecu can't just pull out of Black Mesa, which by the way is exactly what happened, so black ops didn't even achieve their goal as the witnesses managed to escape - the secret is out either way. Or did they also want to kill the escaping ones as soon they landed back at the base? But then it's just simpler to not let them escape...
I also don't understand how the HECU and the government thought that they could cover the incident up so easily, their plan was guaranteed to fail. I mean how do you want to cover up all the killed people, the nuclear bomb and Xen and later the Combine coming to Earth? By the time the portal storms happened the public probably already knew about what happened at Black Mesa.
I mean in the real world There have been instances where the CIA or in literal conflict with the US military in some cases knowingly allowing them to die
Ironic how in OpFor the MP5/M4 weapon entity provides a whole magazine of ammo (instead of half like in Half-Life) and it's basically all the standard Black Ops grunts use (save for one sniper), yet because of the higher health pools of the new enemies it's all so worthless.

I feel like being able to even take down the blackops unit, goes completely against the tone the game was trying to go far. Gordan being able to take out the military guys was enough, now it made Gordan seem like Jason Bourne. (PS: I wouldve liked to see Gordon maybe have to do a stealth portion in vents or otherwise to avoid the black ops units. That could've also showed the units interrogating and killing off everyone from the vents/hidey hole. Idk, maybe im wrong but i feel like that wouldve really hit the nail on the head, your not there to fight, your there to survive.

The way that there's the separation of the army and black ops soldiers reminds me of the way that in destroy all humans there's the separation of the army soldiers and majestic operators
I believe the black ops soldiers were originally gonna be something like the Replica Forces from the Fear Series and the MTF from SCP. Cloned/Disposable super spec ops soldiers who specialize in operations dealing with the other worldly hostiles. From there they became the first wave of combine forces but this was probably scarped.
I know the Black Ops in OpFor only exist to give the player humanoid enemies similar to the HECU. While the Black Ops in OpFor were pretty underwhelming, I can understand why since Gearbox put way more time and effort into other aspects such as the expanded arsenal, alien types, and Otis(the best Half Life character).
Umm... Crossbows would actually be quieter than any sort of suppressed Firearm? I think Valve removed their Crossbows due to how much damage those things do, might have been too frustrating to play against.
Those 4 models you showed near the end of the video belong in Fortnite and Overwatch. Never would they have worked in the HL universe and would have taken away from the serious, believable and dark atmosphere that defines the game. I'd pick the ones we got. The unused designs are cool, they look like something from 2000 AD or Warhammer 40000, but I think they would've looked out of place in the Half Life we got.
I literally made a half life OC with former Black Ops training that was a high level security guard in black Mesa, unaware of the Black Ops intentions in the game
In the war , no have limit to use the wapons . The assassin would use the better wapon to kill you . In may opinion , the Valve should include the crossbow to assassin famale, but , other wise ,take away her's abilit to jump and leap to bacwards ,becaming them a bit slow . When finish her's crossbow ammunition and she abandon the gun , or you kill her, you take her crossbow and nighvision googles, granades knifes away. The gordon could already be equipad whit nightvision stolen from hecu body . The player could use the objects as a shield like a barrels or box . So this wold balance the dificult and no would lose the realism and logic.

Umm... Crossbows would actually be quieter than any sort of suppressed Firearm? I think Valve removed their Crossbows due to how much damage those things do, might have been too frustrating to play against.

Those 4 models you showed near the end of the video belong in Fortnite and Overwatch. Never would they have worked in the HL universe and would have taken away from the serious, believable and dark atmosphere that defines the game. The current black op females are bad enough, flipping 20ft into the air and the insane instant run speeds. Very unbelievable. Great video btw.

Back in the day of the Half-Life expansions, I thought there actually would be a Half-Life: Black Light game where you played as an Assassin.
The one thing i noticed are , female assasin on this videos scene , has booba physics which is deleted version of female assasin from original released half-life

I'd pick the ones we got. The unused designs are cool, they look like something from 2000 AD or Warhammer 40000, but I think they would've looked out of place in the Half Life we got.
I literally made a half life OC with former Black Ops training that was a high level security guard in black Mesa, unaware of the Black Ops intentions in the game
The cut units fit more in Duke Nukem than in a Half-Life game.
In the war , no have limit to use the wapons .
The assassin would use the better wapon to kill you .
In may opinion , the Valve should include the crossbow to assassin famale, but , other wise ,take away her's abilit to jump and leap to bacwards ,becaming them a bit slow .
When finish her's crossbow ammunition and she abandon the gun , or you kill her, you take her crossbow and nighvision googles, granades knifes away. The gordon could already be equipad whit nightvision stolen from hecu body .
The player could use the objects as a shield like a barrels or box .
So this wold balance the dificult and no would lose the realism and logic.
