  • A little Summer fun at the creek. The Bluegill were hungry and so was I. In this video I show how the Bluegill go from the creek to my fork (or more accurately, my Spork). I catch and filet 4 bluegill and fry them up with some cornmeal and vegetable oil.
    Camera: Canon SL2
Lenses: Canon 18-55mm and Canon 24mm
    Stove: MSR Pocket Rocket
    Skillet: Snow Peak Titanium
    Spork: Snow Peak Titanium

Brings back memories in Gordon, Wisconsin summers in the 1960’s and southern Illinois lakes in the 1980’s - 2000’s. Best time of my life. Bluegills and crappie soaked in some beer and thrown in a bag of Ritz cracker crumbs……mmmmm.

Heck yeah, that sounds pretty good. Crappie is my favorite but I’m definitely not gonna turn down bluegills. Glad I could bring up some good memories for you. Thanks for watching!

.Wow my friend, I have camped in many places, on the seashore, in the mountains, in the desert, etc. and the feeling of peace is indescribable. It makes you very hungry and you eat everything with great pleasure. Wow, wow, wow, excellent video my friend. Speechless.

Hey Coyote, I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Not sure what I enjoy more, catching fish or eating fish, haha! Thanks for watching, I appreciate hearing from you!

Holy Cow, how have you been Ben?! My jaw kinda hit the floor when I saw the Tribe of Benjamin left a comment notification. It’s been forever since I’ve heard from you. I sure hope life has been good on your end. As you’ve seen from this video, I still get out in the woods from time to time. I had surgery on my knee last year and that has slowed me down a lot more than I like to admit. It’s gotten better but now this Texas Summer heat has pretty much got me hibernating indoors these days. Oh well, Fall has got to get here eventually, and when it does, I’ll be back out there. You can’t keep the “white Indian” down, haha! Man, it was super awesome hearing from you! Take care buddy!!

Wow, I don’t get too many comments on my production, which is kind of a bummer. I do spend quite a bit of time editing and piecing everything together trying to make a cohesive story, so thanks for noticing! I appreciate that. Take care!

It’s good to see some bluegill fillets, most people eat them whole which is good too, but there was something special about this meal

Crappie is the main fish I catch and eat, but bluegills are a pretty close second. Thanks for watching!!

Bluegill are my favorite fish to fish for. Great video.
Looks like it's been around 3 years since you made a fishing video. I hope you catch the video bug again. I enjoy your outings.
    All the best, John.

Crappie is my go to fish but bluegill is definitely a close a second. They are both fun to catch and eat. Yeah, my video output isn’t what it used to be. Some of it is lack of content inspiration, and some of it is because I had minor surgery on my knee last year. That surgery has slowed me down a lot more than I thought it would. All and all I’m doing better now but we’ll see what the Texas heat allows me to do. Thanks for watching!

      @@OntheTrailwithDale brother, I understand.
I got a new left knee almost 5 years ago. Thinks haven't been the same. Catch 22, the more I move the worse I hurt. The less I move, the more weight I gain, the more I gain, the worse it hurts...

You said it man! Crappie is my passion but it’s hard to pass up on bluegills. The perfect time for catching them is just around the corner too. I might have to grab my pole and camera and make another video…

@@OntheTrailwithDale oh yeah, I hit some parks in cibolo or the guad between NB and Mcqueeny. Lots of fat bluegils. Crappie are the best eating but bluegill do almost as good.

Makes me hungry and I just ate a Ribeye.:>) I love fried fish but unfortunately the corn meal breading which is my favorite no longer works for my pre-diabetic situation.I've tried eating them different ways but nothing I've found beats the corn meal bath.

Ribeye…well, now you made me hungry, haha! Man Laner, that’s a real bummer about the cornmeal. Hope the day never comes when I have to give it up. Those bluegill are too much fun to catch and eat. At least Ribeyes are still on the menu. Thanks for stopping by buddy. It’s always good hearing from you!
