The stock wing is FUGLY, r8s NEED a good wing. It needed a splitter and side skirts as well to actually look good with the wing they chose though Edit: and they needed to remove the stock wing. Why the fuck is the stock wing still there

I know a ton about the R8 being a previous owner. The seats come from the TT ( as are a lot of the interior bits, disappointingly ) and they do wear like what is seen in the video really fast. I had to have mine replaced in the 1st year under warranty for excessive wear. Jack is dead on about the paint, the R8 has some of the most meticulously done paint in the industry. The entire process is quite involved and the results are very good. Remember, these cars are all hand built in the Nekarsulm factory and the people that build these are all veteran Audi techs, not just some randos to fill space on a production line. When you are having one built, you can actually track what phase of production it's in and they can tell you who the last person to touch it was. You alluding to the R8 taking "a while" to reach its top speed is absolutely false. Especially on the V10 like I had. (which was the same Daytona Grey as the V10 at the end)
Love what you do Tavarish! Even with the cost of other projects, you still find time to work on other cars to give away to your fans. This is why your channel is one of my favorite car channels that I have remained subscribed to for the longest. Also, that Audi R8 is a beautiful car, wish I could afford one

putting the 5.2 V10 in is not just a drop in. its going to be a project unless he's going to use the car at the end as a donor. the side blades and some of the rear substructure is all different from the 4.8 V8 model. Thats just for starters.

Just wanted to start by saying how much my husband and I love both of your TH-cam channels. We found your channel through ed bolian’s vinwiki channel and subsequent cartrek series. We were watching the pebble beach/Monterey car week cartreck episode, since we have lived in Monterey for 20 years, was pretty cool to see. You guys were parked in front of the Monterey plaza hotel and then it hit me. I know that guy! You were in your beautiful blue McLaren, as I was walking by you said “Hi, how are you doing?” I said hello, I’m ok, beautiful car! Maybe you remember? I thought you were Vin diesel!( now to my husbands great amusement) I was in a tough spot at that point in my life, living basically hand to mouth, looking scruffy and dirty and wearing a big backpack. My husband was stuck down in LA working for LA county fire dept. at the time, so things were pretty tough. I thought how some big shot(you) was kind enough to take the time to say hello to someone who looked so down and disheveled. Funnily enough, I was on my to try and save this 2002 Audi TT quattro turbo that a friend had given me, with no keys I may add. As my love of cars is lifelong( first car was a 72 Charger 440 r/t that my dad and I rebuilt out of a junkyard) I walked every free day I had to try and get this car going. When we finally had enough money to get a new key made by Audi, 400$+, Monterey had towed the car and we were pretty much shit outta luck. The Audi R8 has been a dream car for me since I first saw one driving through pebble beach. When I tried to describe it to my husband(another life long car but-he went to art academy of San Francisco for automotive design and engineering) he was so frustrated about not knowing what I described to him! He finally figured out it was the R8 after we saw a new TTrs and I said that it looked like the TT’s big brother. Any way I saw your true character and the person you are after watching the pimp my ride van videos you gave your babysitter. I hope to be considered for your R8 giveaway, we’d give it a great home and garage and will be loved and cherished for the rest of its days! One way or another I will get out of Hondas and get an r8! I'm trying to be a specialist but it's difficult since they don't have the classes anymore

Already turn heads driving with a hovercraft behind me, but the thought of towing it with an R8 sounds like it would be a sight to be seen.
That rear wing/mesh is primary for the cooling of the exhaust, possibly partly for some aero flow stuff. Exhaust is directly below. And it rises automatically at 100km/h and lowers below 50km/h. Or with the button.

The bright side is you should be able to get half decent replacements fairly cheap
the mk1 v8 takes more than a minute to reach 186mph so if it ever gets to 190 its going to be a pretty long wait

That rear wing/mesh is primary for the cooling of the exhaust, possibly partly for some aero flow stuff. Exhaust is directly below.
And it rises automatically at 100km/h and lowers below 50km/h. Or with the button.
