She got so much hate for this album, and I remember it all. Back then the internet was even more vicious. She got compared with Lady Gaga, when in actuality she sounds nothing like her and she started making this record as soon as 2007. In the Back to Basics Tour DVD, she's interviewed and she said that her next album was going to be influenced by electronica. She really must have some songs in the vault because it was said she even worked with Goldfrapp! Back then I enjoyed it but thought it was a bit of a mess, lol. But it's gotten a cult status, and I think she was really brave for putting this album out. Wow, can't wait for Lotus, Liberation and Aguilera. 3 very different projects. I love your reactions!
thank you!! I agree, the Gaga comparisons are totally off base. Very different electronic sounds/influences, sounds like people were just looking for reasons to criticize her, YAWN.

The hate was deserved. She promised us songs like Monday Morning and gave us the dated NMT, which was a horrible lead single. The video was even worse. Bionic was mismanaged by HER.

This album seriously was underrated. I do recall this was the era where she was being compared to gaga, when gaga technically came out after this album.
Also props to Xtina for collaborating with Nikki (and I believe sia too) before they were well known. It just shows that Xtina has good taste with other artist.

Her are Gagas albums where very different and I enjoyed both albums
Technically Lady Gaga came out before this album (2008); however it is valid that Christina Aguilera had started working on Bionic as early as 2007, a whole year before Gaga came out; If only Christina would’ve released Keeps Gettin’ Better in very early 2008 instead of late 2008, she would’ve beaten Gaga to the punch.
She collaborated on this album with Sia, M.I.A.(elastic love) , Santigold(Monday morning), Ladytron (Birds of pray, Little Dreamer), Nicky Minaj, etc. All very good collaborations.
Xtina once said in an interview that "You Lost Me" is the core of the album. And at that time, she was struggling with her marriage with Jordan Bratman. Well, you conclude it.

X never talked about Jordan's infidelity publicly, even though it's suggested on _You Lost Me._ She did imply that she herself was unfaithful to him during a live performance at one point. It was a tumultuous time for her; she delayed _Bionic,_ against her own instincts apparently, in order to do _Burlesque,_ which presented new artistic and industry challenges. She met Matthew (her fiancé and daughter's father) on the set of that movie too so... You can kind of connect the dots.
The bonus tracks on the deluxe version were among some of the album’s best tracks, frustratingly

Such a great album. She was the first mainstream pop female to have a collab with nicki...this was when nicki was on her way to becoming a household name
She definitely one that experimented with electric in pop before it was trendy and was kinda before its time.
Side note: she said this album was inspired by the birth of her son and made her think about the future so she made a futuristic album. That being said, it makes me laugh that she has a song titled "I Hate Boys" after having a son 🤣
I was thinking to myself the other why is it that Christina, OBVIOUSLYYY has a knack for collaborating with up and coming artist before they hit it big…. But FAILS HORRIBLY at reaping the benefits. Prime example: Her collaboration with Nicki Minaj before Nicki started collaborating with pop girls. Another example is her team up with Jamaican artist SHENSEEA on Xtina’s LIBERATION. Shenseea is posed to also hit it big, recently heard on a song with Sean Paul and Gwen Stefani. And will be heard next on features with Charlie Puth. And then of courseee from LIBERATION is her grammy nominated song featuring rapper GOLDLINK. Whom was and is a fresh of breath air in the hip hop genre.

@@SeekThePaleSeptember she's always ahead of her time and ahead of the trend... she was also one of the first mainstream pop female to collab with the hip hop sound in general. Lady marmalade and dirrty would have never been touched by any of her counterparts in general back then (with the exception of pink, mariah, and jennifer). Infact her collab with Nelly was supposed to be a Nelly and Britney collab but Britneys label thought it was wayyyy too urban so they pulled her from it...this obviously isn't an issue today since pop artist and hip hop artist collab all the time, but people fail to give christina her flowers for taking a risk and being one of the first to make that move.
This was a very early collab, but actually Mariah Carey + Nicki Minaj “Up Out My Face” was released January 2010 before Woohoo was released. I’m being that annoying person right now. I’m sorry!

A harmonizer reacting to Xtina... Bionic was unfairly underrated and very ahead of its time, people were so hard on her for this record and yet is, imo, one of her best albums ever released. Songs like Prima Donna, Stronger than Ever, I Am, Birds of Prey stood out

I just knew it. you will love Bionic the album! =) the electro pop, dance, and eclectic sounds. My faves are YLM, Elastic Love, Birds of Prey, and Monday Morning. Sadly, it was during Bionic/Burlesque era that she got divorced. In retrospect, You Lost Me, am i right? Some say Little Dreamer is about a miscarriage. M.I.A. worked on Elastic Love.

I'm not certain but for a long time people were saying little dreamer was about a miscarriage she had and how she was saying goodbye to that little dreamer. But again idk how true this is.

Hahaha I actually never really considered the weird placements of the songs haha (Lift Me Up after Sex for Breakfast/You Lost Me and I Hate Boys after All I Need and I am even though she was still married I think/I Am (Stripped) after Stronger Than Ever/Stronger Than Ever at the end of the album). I still love this album a lot! Some things about it:
* WooHoo actually was indeed a single (the second one), but just a promo single, so it was sent to radio stations, but there was never a video for it. Only Not Myself Tonight and You Lost Me got music videos. If I remember correctly, I Hate Boys was the fourth (promotional) single. Lift Me Up was sort of a promo single, but not really. She performed it live (I think even more than once) and I believe it was even sent to radio stations.
* Little Dreamer was actually originally only an iTunes exclusive bonus track. It was never released on the physical versions of the album and if I remember correctly, she only added it to Spotify a few years ago. So originally the album ended with I Am (Stripped) hahaha, which is so weird, but the deluxe tracks are a compilation of songs anyway I think haha.
My fav tracks are Bionic, Not Myself Tonight, Elastic Love, You Lost Me, Vanity, Birds of Prey and Little Dreamer (and especially Birds of Prey, Elastic Love and Little Dreamer, so I'm kinda gagged by your ranking haha)

Technically You Lost Me isn't actually her story. When she did a private performance of this song she actually changed the lyrics to sing about HER cheating. It is believed she met her current fiance on the set of Burlesque and cheated on her husband with him.

I'm gna be honest and IMO this album is still nothing short of a mess. The "ahead of it's time" claim is really overused. The music just seems really basic. Me and one of my friends make fun of Vanity all the time 😆 "I just love myself...bitch!" Hahaha. I know sorry guys I'm the neg Nancy here. But the cult following is essentially just the xtina fans. But I will say the tracks I Am and You Lost Me are pretty phenomenal 💗
