Aye BOB, indeed!! My granda taught me the bagpipes (Highland) and Tin Whistle...my sister plays the Celtic Harp, all of us speak Gailage, and how true!!! SHLAINTE!
Born and living in Ireland for 85 years and seeing a lot of other countries I still cherish my Homeland it’s beauty and it’s people. It Will always be my Garden of remembrance no matter where I go.I am so proud that our traditions and culture and music has spread world wide.
My great grandfather left County Cork long time ago..You guys still have your culture in tact.Don't lose it...The Irish are the most soulful people on earth..Someday I would love to travel there.
This is the music that is the cradle of American's traditional music. Without the Irish music, America would be a sadder place. I love watching, hearing, and feeling Irish music and song. Thank you, my Irish friends.
+ Captain Snort irish traditional dancing was taken over to engand during the mass migrations famine ect , this was incorperated into your morris dancing which became clogging ect that was to eventally reach southern states of america
You don't know your history. The Irish famine began in 1845. Morris dancing was first recorded in the 1700s and english folk music was documented in the 1500s. Have you never heard of Greensleves?
+Captain Snort hi take a look a this irish traditional dancing and only place you'll find this type of dancing is america mostly tha appallachians or southern ireland nowhere in england or scotland , if i'm mistaken please post me link and i will offer my profuse apologies . regards john th-cam.com/video/Ee_k8zyfU4A/w-d-xo.htmlm2s
My great grandfather left Ireland in 1855 (potatoe famine) and brought his family to New Zealand. His descendants have done well. I find a strong affinity with all things Irish, so thoroughly enjoyed this presentation.
It's really fantastic seeing people of all the ages playing and dancing the traditional songs of their country. I've only see this in irish people and its something fantastic, the love that they have to their traditional folk is really really amazing. God bless Ireland!!
It runs in families and the music is a continual evolution all the time so it never stagnates. However its still a minority interest american country music is much more popular
Yes, but do you know the origins of American country music? When America was first settled lots of Scots/Irish moved into the southern states. It was there Irish music melded with that of the African slaves. So you had Irish music over the blues foundation. The finest expression of that can be found in the Belfast band, "The Commitments". It came full circle. Real "Country and Western" music began after the Civil War. maybe 40% of American cowboys were black. They took their guitars and moved to Texas and Arizona to work on ranches. Around the turn of the century white artists ripped off their music, just like Elvis "borrowed" jive music and the Rolling Stones copied Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, and Bo Diddly.. But at the end of the day, it all goes back to the happy mix of Irish and African music.
don't know why, but there's something very special, joyful and unique in the spirit of Irish people! it is seen in they're manners, kindness and warmth and music. if wouldn't be Portuguese I would be Irish :) greetings and Blessings from Portugal to Ireland.
I knew nothing about Ireland, i thought it was boring a country... Until then, i had to hold a presentation about Ireland in English class. Guess what? I was stunned... By everything! I just fell in love. Beautiful people and their beautiful culture. I once will visit Ireland sure in my life.
this made me weep a little. am i the only one who gets emotional with the affairs of humanity? enraged by injustice, conflict and cruelty and so happy at things like this i weep a little with joy.
This video and many others too show that music and culture are alive in every city, town, village and townland in Ireland and has a wonderful future when you see that many of the musicians here are young.
i play the flûte since i'm six years old. I Played classical music in harmonics philhamonics and symphonics orchestras, but i love Celtic music. I would love to visit Ireland with my flûte and to play with everybody how wants to play with me. Music is the most universal language, and all over this very hard world, it's one of the best expression to give some peace. I can't imagine a world without music 💓
Thanks for this brilliant post not alone for its sound and video quality but also for its capture of the spirit of the Fleadh and the variety of music and singing. Could it have happened in a better town than Ennis? No. And the best thing is that it is in Ennis too in 2017. This lovely video shows us why we are so good as a living vibrant country. Happiness abounds and long live the young musicians who give us this pleasure.
Great stuff, I love all of this, off now to watch a couple of Ceile Bands, the Shandrum Ceile Band, the Brosna Ceili Band and no need to mention the Killfenora. Great.
ammm this is a Fleadh Cheoil here lads . The pub is open at night for that kind of talk. There are children viewing this and young poeple in it . Easy please
I'm so grateful to see these young kids learning this music & dance and keeping their heritage alive. My ancestors came to America from County Longford 273 years ago. I feel a strong sense of gratitude because they're keeping my heritage alive as well.
I love seeing even the very young children participating and showing skill. Heartening to know that the traditions will continue and not be lost in time. 😊
I found this by chance, I am happy I watched. Seeing the mix of young with old and the variety of instruments. The music was great and the added dancing was good. Thanks for showing this.
Amazing how an entire people love music so much and sing the love of their homeland like the Irish. So reassuring to see their musical traditions still being passed down to the younger generations. When an entire pub erupts in one folk song in unison, that's national unity! So envious! God Bless Ireland!
It's great to see young kids embrace their heritage and carry on the traditions of their homeland. I love Irish music and Riverdance it just makes me smile to watch and listen.
Then you will be welcomed with 1,000 welcomes Lass!! Know that The Irish are kind people! Very proud of our heritage!! SHALINTE!!! ( Means TO YOUR HEALTH!)
You bet Grey. Hopefully this summer I'll be flying to Dublin. I remember when I was a kid my grandpa and I, enjoyed the River Dance performance every Wednesday in a TV program. Great country with an amazing traditions and music. Regards.

On my one, and probably only, chance to visit the land of my ancestors too many years ago, my wife and I found ourselves in Ennis. It's not the ancestral seat, but it was still that magical place ... "home".
We landed and were immediately greeted with” Welcome Home”. I have never felt so comfortable in a land away from the United States than I have in Ireland.
wonderful to see these young Musicians proudly displaying their rich musical heritage, and some foreign folks,so joyful in a time of terrible sadness in the u.k
My family was there about a year ago (Oct 2019) and ate lunch at the restaurant shown in the first few seconds. The waiter at 0:06 was our waiter and was really very helpful. We just told him to "feed us" and he brought good stuff. Even my two pre-teen boys enjoyed everything he brought. Look forward to returning again soon from the US.
I was just watching a video done in the US and it was OK, but when I saw this one I was elated. This is the original music and the feeling can be actually seen in the people playing and watching. It's beautiful. I love it.
As a full blooded Irish man (Red hair to boot!) that was born in Kilarney, County Karry ,this music stirs up some wonderful memories from me childhood!!! God this makes me miss Ireland. I miss the green pastures of Co.Kildare, working on the dairy farm, Staying with the O’Loughlin family. Where are you Jack? Drinking and singing down the pub. Gaelic football and the Earthy and honestly gorgeous women! Never better times, driving across Ireland to the Galway festival listening to the Dubliners and Christy Moore. If you ever read this Jack O’Loughlin message me back or anyone that knows him tell him about this message! Such a shame we lost touch!
