I wonder how hard it would be to pull the turret and basket out? That would give you tons more room inside for cleaning and repairs, and also a lot easier access to the turret guts.
As much as I like modern kit and WW stuff...a centurion is what you think of when you say Tank. The Oxford English dictionary should have a picture of a cent along side the word.....tank.
Well hello old friend I've driven past her on many a visit workwise to harman lines nice to see age has gone to a good home and been painted in a few schemes over the years keep up the great work guys
I have been in a Centurion Mk13 and a Chief. I can agree that it is much more spacious inside although I am more of a Leopard 1 guy. I think you should name your Cent "Maximus" after the character Aelius Maximus because he was a high ranking roman general that was in charge of the Centurions.
Great seeing another one rescued, saw you all Saturday at Harborough, looked like you were having a ball, (when gear selection went to plan haha) Keep up the good work, 👍
That used to be the 1st job, after the tank was dragged off the park, its 1st stop was the turret shop where the turret was removed and put on a stand to enable the overhaul, then it was dragged round to the main workshops for overhaul
My dad used to drive the centurion when he did his national service back in the day. He is no longer with us sadly, his name was Daniel and his friends called him Danny. I'm sure that if he were still here he would really appreciate seeing his name on there as either Danny or Danny Boy.
with the rods issue, and it's a tank and it's not too thick underneath, possibly a access panel removed and welded back in would be the simplest and most appropriate fix, the REME wouldn't have taken it to bits they would carve a hole and "fix" it
The problem with that name is the contamination by association with the poxy, woke, leftist newspaper of the same name. I'd call it Big T for Tommy or Trooper. What about Big Harman.
Lucius Siccius Dentatus was an Achilles level Centurion back in the day. Maybe because yours is looking a tad worse for wear you could call it “Sick Lucius”
There was a time in the-sixties when some racing engines were repaired with Araldite on the casing. Now if crank ok there is an advertising opportunity you might be able to pursue. It’s a ball room compared to Chieftain in the turret. I could not believe the space as an ECE.
Do you have any photos of it in situ at Hatman Lines? I was stationed there around 14 years ago and I can’t for the life of me remember this MBT, we’re A Sqn 2RTR still the talkies there?
Hmmm, how about an obscure name for your tank. Imperious Leader. This was the one who lead the Cylons in the original Battlestar series, in which the Cylons were called Centurions. I'll get my coat... 🤣 Keep up the great content and thanks for sharing these videos. I was a forces brat and grew up to the sound of these beautiful machines. The Chieftain's howl never fails to move my soul.
Hi.love the military equipment....awesome to see. Name for cheiftan tank. COLD WAR SALLY....red writing and a homage picture of a pin up girl underneath. OLD SALLY on gun barrel. Just think that be unique and pretty awesome. Love the uploads...defo more spraying of vehicles...maybe mention rough ish costs on buyn said tanks any legalitys and where u can find em....plus have u got any snatch landys or s.a.s style desert landys in pink..old pink panthers. Any chance you may do up a lynx helicopter as a static display? Keep up the goodness. Peace.
LMAO someone thought, "hey it's a Farmers tank... send'em some John Deere Green" ^~^ Now a name for the lovely Mk-XIII... hmmm, maybe Who's yer Daddy?, or maybe Pub Run?.
You should name the tank Clamydia. I know the Aussies gave their Cent tanks interesting names during the Vietnam War so Clamydia is pretty fitting, especially with all the rust 😂. Not to mention all decent British tanks begin with C 😂 You mentioned about selling some of the knackered Merlin engine bits. Would you guys have any spare track links you’d want to sell? Literally only want one 👍🏻
Great walk around video especially the inside view coz there a'nt alot of room in there to film !! I agree " Guardian " would be a great name ! Just a thought IF you do have to start rooting around inside that turret would it not be easier just to remove the complete turret ?? Additionally I wouldn't so no to a Mitya piston if one becomes available !!
@@marknoxx4698 No worries :) Keep in mind the later variant of the 20 pounder also had a bore evacuator, so it can be difficult to tell. However the 20 pounder bore evacuator usually has a metal ridge on it, the 105mm L7 does not.
@@h.a8681 thanks never would have known that about the 20 pounder my grandfather crewed the cents in the 50s the photos he has left me the 20 pounders are all smooth tubed so they must be early models then
Being a Centurion, one of the best films made that had them in it was The Life of Brian. So my name for him Is Brian, or Roderick or Biggus Gunnis.
Interesting idea on selling items such as Pistons, wouldn't mind that as an ornament.
I wonder how hard it would be to pull the turret and basket out? That would give you tons more room inside for cleaning and repairs, and also a lot easier access to the turret guts.
Came from whistlindiesel fair play to you mate you know your tanks
Tanky McTankface, worth a try.
It was great seeing you at Harborough At War, chaps. My lads especially enjoyed the BARV 'climbing frame experience'.

Brilliant video again so exciting to see all the new kit that you guys are bringi g back to life look forward to seeing them all up and running
Pistons are a good idea, would like one myself

Good call was thinking of same tact
With the tank history, You could try to find the vehicle reg data plate mounted inside or ask the Tank Museum to see if they have anything on it.
Got to love a centurion 👍

The greatest tanks ever made !!!!
NAME , scrap iron .. great vid loved it , love the Saracen in the back ground too
Good video, definitely jealous of what you guys do
Another great vid guys

Looking great.
This tank should be call a Guardian because it used be gate guard before it was replaced by the Chieftain.
The problem with that name is the contamination by association with the poxy, woke, leftist newspaper of the same name. I'd call it Big T for Tommy or Trooper. What about Big Harman.
The welding you spoke about looks like Submerged Arc type to me ?
Great show by the way 😊👍
That’s a very nice tank should come up very nice 👍
Love the content gents, "Betsy" is a good sound name.
I used to have a moggy minor called Betsy ! lol
Be great to see that restored and running
Lucius Siccius Dentatus was an Achilles level Centurion back in the day. Maybe because yours is looking a tad worse for wear you could call it “Sick Lucius”
SPARTACUS
a merlin piston would be a cool adition to my collection :)
i like the sand colour for a paint job, leave the green off it and stick with the sand mate
Looks like removing the whole turret might be the go to get to those control rods.
Genevieve would be nice, thank you.

Very Cool....
Hi Mat. I believe Nick Mead at Tanks-a-Lot has a boxed N.O.S. Meteor at his place in Brackley.
And Nick owes Joe a little😊
With that turret shape it should be called Frankenstein lol.
A good name would be Tiberias. The Ruler. Great work you guys do .Thank-you
With the way the worlds going at the mo, she might be called into service!🤣🤦♂
I hope we get your perspective when WD was over there.
Wouldn't mind buying Conrod or Valve etc if you do decide to sell off some bits 👍
Great vid. What about 'The Boss', or " The Big 'un "

I think the guardian would be a great name for the old girl
How about 'Rolling Thunder' as a name? I've always loved both the Centurion and the Chieftain as tanks in equal measure.
hi , great show ! the name i think old crusty ! lol

Hi. Are you guys taking vehicles to Tanks, Trucks and Firepower please ?
@fitterMat did you ever get the history for that tank. I was at Harman Lines when it left. I can send you what I got from the tank museum?
The link to the merch doesn't seem to be working or is it just me?
Doesn't work for me either, says something along the lines of website/address not found
Nice project... namewise how about "Rob Roy" from the 90s Liam Neeson film... would complement Mel Gibson's "Mad Max" ?
Not sure about a name for this one but as you have Bang Bros, does that make the half track the Bang Bus? 😂
Is there any updates planned this year guys
How difficult to remove the turret and would it be easier to repair.
would it not be possible to just lift the turret off?, usually takes a crane to get it out
LMAO someone thought, "hey it's a Farmers tank... send'em some John Deere Green" ^~^ Now a name for the lovely Mk-XIII... hmmm, maybe Who's yer Daddy?, or maybe Pub Run?.
Looks more like merlo green?
Do you have any plans on going further back in the Tank time line?
Great content as usual guys, That MBT looks very much like "Matilda". Or instead of that how about 50 Cent.
There was a Sherman installed as gate guardian at Harman Lines, wondering what happened to it?
Their other TH-cam Channel is ‘Now We’re Torquin ☝️🤘
how far have you got with the Stolly , it's been a while since you recovered it. And has it got its swim gear ???
com'on guys I wanna see that T34

Apart from Valentine, Tetrarch, Matlida, Light tank Mk IV, Vickers Medium.
@@JohnyG29 yes but they aren’t developed from the cruiser tank hence the names beginning with C
What’s happened Matt missing your vids
The barv may be interesting, but that is the real deal
merch page not working.
TH-cam Channel, Brintech Customs, are looking for Meteor Engine Parts. Based in Oz

Is 'Farmer Phil' the one that went to Whistlindiesel?
Still got any old pistons?

Where did you guys go, missing you content
You should call it Biggus Dickuss.
Or Centuwion.
Like in Monty Pythons Life of Bryan 😅
Name is simple.... Vorenus after both Caesar's writings and HBO Rome.
Definitely go with MAD MAX for it's name. So is that a 20 pdr main gun?
No, 105 mm L7A1.
Where are you? You haven't posted anything for ages. 👍
I think you should call it Merlin
Aweh pull your finger out lads let’s have a new video haha
It's got to be frank, frank the tank

Is it the 20 pounder or the 105 mm matt really enjoying the content as well
105mm
@@h.a8681 thanks for the info should have known that it has a bore evacuator half way down the tube

She’s to old to be on the merlin system, you need to try the b card system which came before, operated by the RLC museum, online archive. 👍🏻
