"Somewhat extensive refit" Understatement of the decade.

A tad understated....perhaps " Century " ..Ive heard the Vatican have now decided to change the phrase " Patience of a saint" to that of " Patience of Mads " ...Not one of those holy saints could show as much dedication and meticulous endeavour towards any unnecessary, necessary Sanding jobs.

Mads, You need to run the camera cables again.
In the middle of the strings is not correct, look at the footage and see your mast is a mirror, and you have a passage identical to the one you tried the first time on the opposite side, use it to pass other cables, including the camera.

Have been following for a few years and I am very impressed with all you have done. You are a true inspiration and when refitting our boat we now have got to a stage when we ask our selves - ”is it spiffy enough?” However, the point of this post is to warn you, before you fit the lights in your cabin, that some impact on radio broadcasting and receiving. We learnt this the hard way. Some LED lights- in our case- Foresti and Suardi reduced our radio reception from 17 miles to 1mile. Furneaux Riddle has done some research, and the US Coast guard put out a warning 2018/19. I wrote a short article about our experience, which I will try to link.

Making those ends in the lines is a great investment. Never let anyone do it for you. They may choose to hide a mistake and you find out when it fails and all your sails, or even mast come crashing down.

Nice video Mads! Since you still have a couple of days, might suggest bolting a couple of Petzl's Coeur stainless 316L or HCR 904L (25kN) anchors to the top plate or just below on the mast itself at a spot where they are not in the way but can be easy reached . This because you want to climb the mast. Alone, hoisted etc. Depending on the harness/bosun chair/system used, your tie in point determines how high your body really can be in relation to the mast, and thus how easy it is to work equipment on top of the mast. The anchors may be used to clip in a 4 step etrier (petzl Looping) or footloop made from some rope, to give you an easy step more. hight An anchor can be used to clip in a pully to hoist or lower stuff like tools from and to the deck when alone and when hoisted up. You can clip in the tool bucket, so you don't have to carry it. as an xtra safety point or to attach a rapid descent line , if you forgot something and have to climb back up or even if fastened well, use the power of the sails and still be able to be pulled of a sandbank at the Rio Dulce with lines to the mast. Every good climbing or rope-acces shop can supply you these anchors. Good luck with the last tasks Mads!!!

At some point you may want to consider a rigid boom vang and chuck that topping lift. Garhaur makes affordable ones that work perfectly. I switched to rigid vangs on my last two boats and would never consider a lift again. Rigid vangs are superior for sail trim and do a superb job supporting the boom.

to assist you in pulling wire through conduit pick up a tube or bottle of Wire Lubricant at the hardware store. Electrictians use it to make wire pulling easier and not damage the insulation on the wire. works great.

I'm going to start working on my own boat this month, and I was considering putting a camera on the mast too. I'm eager to know how it works.
I'm interested in both seeing the sea-floor when anchoring without as much reflection and refraction, and checking the surroundings at night during a passage. For this last part, I was more inclined in high sensitivity cameras than IR cameras.
Consider applying an aquafobic coating to the camera, and a hose nozzle or pump powerful enough that allows you to clean it from the deck.

Speaking of top-of-mast. Have a look at the Echomax Active-XS (No affiliation).
Some may think it redundant in the age of AIS, but AIS isn't necessarily as widespread as radar still. I like a belt+bracers (suspenders) approach when it comes to making sure I'm visible anyway.

You probably knew this, but if not: Most vulcanising electric tapes do not tolarate UV. Hence they degrade in couple of years. However, if you use SILICONE vulcanising tape, it lasts much longer. It's more expensive yes but so much better! Both types sticks almost only to itself so either one is easy to remove, unlike the actual "tape" tapes that stick to everything and leave a gooey mess.

We did a lot lighter sanding job on the copper coat and it was fine. The camera will be superb, you'll wonder how you managed before. Threading cables/ropes - silicone spray and lots of it, it's amazing what a difference it makes. We used on sail catcher beads running in channels in the boom, it went from impossible to manageable. Great video...
