You are a good conversationalist and communication is key to understanding and teaching. I want to say thanks also for this video lesson. You're a good teacher
This is pretty neet, I'm going to try this out later. Layering the chords like that sounds fantastic. My knowledge of modes is basically through finding root notes and memorizing the scale patterns. Building off of the pentatonic like that is very helpful in hearing the sound of the mode against the more familiar sound of the pentatonic.
Thank you... Yeah, to me it's always made sense to see how the mode differs from the pentatonic forms....I think this way for Dorian and Mixolydian for sure...🙂🎵🎶🎸
Great video Barry!!! Subscribed to your channel...and will be checking into your other video that you referenced on your channel regarding how to use a looper. Great learning and practice tool. Didn't realize such an inexpensive pedal could get you at least 3 layers to jam, learn, and practice over.
wow. great intro showing the signal chain! that's the kind of education i'm also interested i, along with the guitar instruction of course. i didn't know that the amp speaker output could feed the interface box. must be some impedence mojo in the scarlett box?
Thank you!... actually, I probably should have talked about that more in depth... That is the Tone Master Fender Deluxe.... It is a digital modeling amp.... No tubes.... So it has a line out on it that I used, that models the fender amp miked up.... So you can have the speaker on or off.... That's why I was able to run it that way... It's not the traditional Fender Deluxe ... I've used it a bunch for live gigging though too and it sounds incredible.... And super light to haul around!!... Love that amp 🎶🎵🎸
Every major scale degree can have a "mode" associated with it ... simply put, A Dorian is like playing the notes of a G Major scale, but starting on A... And A being the home base.... You can also think of it like the A minor scale, except raise the 6th degree by one step...🎵🎸🎶
i think the chords alone sound exactly like my sweet lord from george harrison, but ok with the name santana given i could hear santana too especially when you soloing over the chords: nice lesson , still thinking about getting a hardware looper
Good ear!... Yeah, I believe my sweet lord is mainly Am to D for the verse.... Actually same kind of key cuz I believe then he goes to G which A Dorian comes from...🎶🎵🎸

what is a mode?? A dorian?? is that minor or major?

My Sweet Lord is Em to A
@@dirkgibbens377 with capo at 2nd fret I believe?
your in key of G?
Yep, Am to D come from the key of G... So does the A Dorian mode... So you could also play a G major scale, but center around the note A...
That chart orientation would be completely confusing for a beginner
