The reason why Axl tends to not smile in photos, is because Axl is a very intense person, and he especially poses with his intense expression. I think it is just part of who he is, and because of anything else. I do not think he dislikes his own smile, because of how much he really smiles, in general. When fans make him laugh, he does smile during photos, but it is not as common. If you watch concert videos, or attend GnR concerts, you can see that Axl smiles & laughs a lot, these days.

I'm a huge Slash fan and no matter how pissy or corny Axl can be, Axl is already made himself one of the most amazing musicians ever.
Axl's very first "in person" game and he still comes up with amazingly intelligent conversation about the team and players, as well as, the legends of the game. Axl's always impressive.

I agree. I think he has a Napolean thing going on with Gn'R but as far as public image...the media did take it to him good and unfairly. I actually met him once...I was on vacation in LA and saw him at a bagel/coffee shop. I approached him, somewhat nervously because I had this media drive image of him, but he was incredibly gracious and actually gave me, my wife and kid a few minutes of actual time. It wasn't just a hello and autograph. He actually asked about how old our son was, what his name was and thought it was really cool that my son knew who he was and about Gn'R music...me and the wife are both music freaks and it rubs off. He spoke with us for about 10-15 minutes and was very cool, he even picked up our check, lmao! I felt so tacky and didn't want him doing it, we kept declining and he said "if I didn't really wanna' do it then I wouldn't offer, so please". I still brag to friends until this day that Axl Rose bought me and my humble family bagels. But it totally changed my entire opinion of the guy.

No offense but I think people tend to put way too much stock in what certain former band members say when, during the UYI Tour, none of them gave a shit how much emotional pain Axl was in at the time (he never should have been touring then). I saw two shows during the Vegas Residency (5/30-31) and not only did he and his band mates sound AMAZING, you could tell how much more of a supportive family GNR has become. I also met Axl after one of the shows. I just stood there like a Fan Girl Dork and filmed with my iPhone. I was too nervous to say anything; not because of his reputation-- I always suspected there was "A Lot [More] Goin' On" than what people saw during the times he was pushed to the edge. Even though it was an unforgettable experience, I hope I get another chance at meeting him so I can give him the thanks he deserves. It was such a joy to see him so happy after the all the hell he's been through. Peace! :)

One can just imagine the dynamics between someone using and someone not using. They write about how Ax shut himself off from them completely but after you read about their behaviors and how drugged up and sloshed they were all the time I would have stayed far away from them too. What sane sober person would want to stay anywhere near a bunch of addicts? Izzy couldn't stand it once he got sober. Ax did right by taking over the name and continuing on after they left. He was the shrewdest one of them all and deserved it, and it was his name. Had they taken over the GNR name they would have made a mess of everything.

That's definitely still the same guy-he's just not wearing a bandana, makeup, & sunglasses. Also put on a little weight. Compared to how he looks now though, it wasn't as noticeable back then. Styles change over time too-he wants to move forward & if he still dressed the same as he did in the 80s/90s, ppl would give him tons of $#!+ for it. He seems like an ok guy though, in his more recent years. No longer a young hothead, he's settled down a bit-nothing wrong with that!
My guesses would be depression, creativity lulls etc. He got complacent and insecure..hence the plastic surgery.. No way that he didn't get any.. It hardly even looks like the same person from the 90s. The jawline is entirely different. But you're right, we'll never truly know.

Wasn't Axl still extremely reclusive back in 2001? Maybe they caught him by ambush this time. He almost looks adolescent here, like some high school kid you'd see hanging around a 7 Eleven or something. As to his demeanor, it seems from past interviews that he's always been quite shy, or reticent, though it is usually somewhat countered by the fact that usually he is speaking about music, the band, an album, or something that brings out some confidence.
this was a few years after GnR broke up. he was basically retired and sitting on $80 million. no longer in spotlight and was a hermit. he was prolly tripping on shrooms everyday toying with plastic surgery. decided to go venture out in public to watch a basketball game.

There is no proof he ever had plastic surgery but when on stage he's touched up as being a redhead he has light coloured eyelashes & eyebrows. Then people criticise him for wearing eyeliner, cannot wait to see him this year.

I hear all these stories about what a dick he is but every time ive seen him interact with fans or give an interview he always been polite, cordial, and evens seems down to earth. Seems like a pretty decent guy to me.

Rose &1977 it’s just some doofus who passes a reasonable resemblance to Axl playing a prank. This guy probably got the Axl references all the time, so when this opportunity came it was probably too much to resist. Go watch any Axl Rose interview and you will see. His voice is deep and he talks in a slow measured way.

Outward appearance can get harder as years go by FOR EVERYONE !!! Imagine going from super pretty and young through normal aging all while being scrutinized by the public under the microscope . Sounds like fun , right ? It's hard enough just being Average Joe (or Josephine) and getting old !! I'd hide for years at a time too .

Wasn't Axl still extremely reclusive back in 2001? Maybe they caught him by ambush this time. He almost looks adolescent here, like some high school kid you'd see hanging around a 7 Eleven or something. As to his demeanor, it seems from past interviews that he's always been quite shy, or reticent, though it is usually somewhat countered by the fact that usually he is speaking about music, the band, an album, or something that brings out some confidence.

He's so nice here. I guess this is the sober Axl, when he's not on something. He looks more human here, than in any other video i've seen of him. When i was younger i always thought that this guys were born badass, but i guess, when they're clean, they look a bit insecure in theirselves, like all of normal people.
