Just bought one last week, amazing car for the price, I was a Jap car, GM fan boy, even had BMW 3 series in the past... I used to be on of many ignorant haters. Now I am a believer.
While I agree that the Ford Fusion has the new Sonata beat in the looks department, I still think the 2015 Sonata is far from ugly. It looks like a combo of the previous generation Sonata and the Kia Optima. I believe the look really works. I checked out the base SE model and later got to drive the Limited model as a loaner car for the whole day. Both were great. However I think the base SE has super bang for the buck especially if you add the Popular Package option. You naysayers have every right to your opinion but I honestly don't know what it is you expect for a car in this segment, in this price range. Bravo Hyundai.
Sorry it was raining during the shoot. June to about October is the wet season here. Regarding the car, I like this sleeker design better than the previous generation Sonata. That one, at least to me, was a bit TOO overdone. At least it aged reasonably well.
Hyundai released a press release a few months ago regarding the new HP figures. They changed the turbo to a new smaller unit to improve mid range responses vs peak HP as most people are not driving their family sedans at the upper rev range. This seems to be their new philosophy now that they proved they can produce the power. Many haters always point to Hyundai's recent lawsuit regarding EPA mileage, but most dont realize those numbers are certified by the EPA and as stated, clearly on the sticker, mileage will vary. Often significantly, depending on conditions and driver. Let's not forget Ford just got sued and also revised their mileage on 8 to 10 cars. From 1 mpg less up to, I think, 10 mpg less. Being open minded and free of bias goes a long way. Even Ferrari couldnt design or manufacture a 30K car as well as Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, etc I mean, lets face it, how many countries out of the hundreds around the world can produce something like a mid size family car millions use/abuse and rely on daily.
Hyundai did not mention a remote starter at the press launch and none of the press vehicles were equipped with one. Typically vehicles in this segment (mid-sized sedans) are not equipped with remote starters so I double Hyundai will offer one. However, more and more manufacturers are moving towards systems like BlueLink where they can start the vehicle remotely and perform other functions. GM has that option with OnStar and several luxury brands offer this feature.
wicky201 Great time to be in-market for a mid-sized sedan. The 2015 Camry is launching this year with new sheet metal and new underpinnings, so it will be a real force. The Accord is brilliant. A couple of sleepers in the segment are the Mazda6 and Subaru Legacy. We also anticipate the next Malibu to address the poor rear seat space and make a big splash. Even the new Chrysler 200 is impressive and it has never been on our radar in the past. Good luck!
Always been a Chevy man, but the Hyundai warranty is too good to pass up. I have to be a contortionist to fit into a new Malibu and even a Taurus. We'll see what happens with the again restyled Malibu....but I'm pretty much sold on the Sonata.
Just an awesome car... and for you haters, show you own a Ferrari or STFU and drive your fucking shitty Totoya, BMW 3 series, Merc C class or your GM crap.
Hyundai flew everyone they could down to Alabama, wined and dined auto journalists to say nice things about their cars. The sunroof on my 2013 Sonata Turbo SE shattered in my driveway, a car with barely 4000 miles on the clock - you can see the video here: New 2013 Hyundai Sonata Turbo SE 2.0 Shattered Sunroof - No Reason Hyundai is not the company I thought it was: when I tried to contact them they refused to talk to me, banned me from their Facebook page and relegated me to twitter. For such a big company they behave like sheep, cowards they are. The bottom line: don't buy a Hyunadi. Save yourself the trouble and go with another brand.
The reason the dropped power on the 2.0t is for warranty purpose. Don't listen to them saying they made the have more mid range and easier to accelerate at hwy speeds. This car gets destroyed in any time of acceleration test between this and 11-14 sonata. So many of the older engine blew up they didn't want to deal with it. They really dropped the ball with this car. It looks like a optima and fusion had. A baby. I own the 12 sonata and I'd rather cross brands then buy this car . Hyundai you didn't listen to this owner.
I got this car last week. Let me give you guys some feedbacks. Overall the car drives quite well for a 4-cylinder turbo. Noise level of engine and drive is somewhat in the mid range. My previous car was a 2012 Genesis and this 2015 Sonata is not better but doable. Cons: The car doors were not aligning correctly. Doors were a bit off from the quarter panels and rear passengers door. I was not able to open driver's side passenger the door. I have to pull the handle twice in order to open the door. Dealership had to take my car in for a day to fix these issues. I got the car on Friday and return to dealership for repairs on Monday, go figure. Hyundai Alabama must be rushing to get this car out of factory because their QC is way below par. I was told the car was also inspected when it arrives at dealership before it can be sold to me. The QC level at the dealership must be the same as factory, below average. How Hyundai is able to miss all doors alignment is beyond my comprehension. I really hope the doors are the only problems and nothing on the brakes or steering as they have a recall earlier when they roll out the 2015 Sonata 2.4s and SEs. My advice to all my fellow buyers: Beware and please check all the doors alignment, make sure they are flushed with quarter panels and rear passenger doors. Oh BTW, even after they fix my doors, one of the doors is still not aligned correctly. I will need to take the car in again. OMG. What is waste of my time. Bluetooth Audio Streaming: All 2015 Sonata has this problem and their engineers are working on a fix. If you try to stream your music from your phone to the car's Bluetooth system, get ready for a break/pause every 15 seconds. I was told Hyundai knew about this problem but they will still sell the car anyway. Currently I'm waiting for a software patch which will fix this but who knows when. I suggest all buyers to stay the away from this car until maybe a year later till they fix all defects. If you have a iphone 5 or better, wait for Apple Carplay to be installed before you get the car. I kind of regretted getting this car so early in the game as Carplay cannot be retro to the current 2015 Sonata models. Plus I'm not sure what other problem I may encounter. Better wait then be sorry like me.
Window Lock: Yesterday I found a new problem. Window lock function is not working. There is a window lock button on the driver's side left armrest. Supposedly when this function is on, other passengers in the car is not able to open their windows. Mine doesn't work. This function is broken for my car. Sad story, Hyundai miss it during their under par QC. Pro:??? With so many current problems, my pros are clouded with the cons so there is nothing good to say about the car now. Until they fix all my car's existing problems, I may update this review with some goods. Thanks for reading and hope you all buy other cars for now.
Kostya Votyakov I think you guys missed his point. He means every car has a job to do: from a $1m Bugatti, designed to be a trophy car...to the Sonata, designed to be a $25k people-moving sedan.
I hope Hyundai have fixed the steering issues which plagued the earlier Sonata's & i40s......My 2011 i40 has the pulling to one side problem which Hyundai have had 5 goes at trying to fix and still isn't 100%.... Hyundai after sales support is SHOCKING!!!!!!
the westlife Well, sorry but I didn't post this. I have a family who don't know anything about cars! My sister posted that. I said to her to look at our dad's car, a 2005 Hyundai Accent, to prove that it's South Korean. Also, I shown her proof that our mum's car is Korean, a KIA. So I didn't post that comment! Plus, that's disrespecting people's imtelligence.
dont trust?lol,i had a german cars and i dont want to hawe them anymore,i had so many problems with them,i only trust korean and japanese cars because i hawe kia optima and toyota land cruiser, and i hawe no problems with them, and my friens hawe those car brands too, open your eyes world is changing, all is changing,i dont now in wich age you are living,if you didnt know german cars assembling in china too
DRAGONIKification My age is fine and I am living in the same era as you are, Korean cars are nothing but copycats of the best German and Japanese cars. For me, If I want a real luxury Sedan I can buy any Japanese brand and not worry at all. Need a sports car? I will go with Germans. Korean? hell no.
zorkor tell me what they copyed?why do you dont like korean cars?look at mersedec concept coupe suv its a copy of a bmw x6 or look at bmw active tourer concept its a copy of kia rondo,so germans dont copy huh, everyone copyes, you dindt even sat in korean car ,and talk shit already,my friend thought same like you but when he sat in one his view changed
You DO know that the lead designers of BMW & Audi both work for Hyundai and KIA now right? To each their own. Hyundai Ranks 1st (non-Luxury, 4th behind Porsche, Jaguar, Lexus, Hyundai, ) in 2014 JD Power Initial Quality Reports.
***** Camrys a freakin rental car. Anybody with a mind would pick an accord over a lame camry...lol Since it's almost 2015...I think the Sonata takes the win here...by far. Accord's CVT has nothing on that 7 speed auto...
Korean cars it.s more batter from amirecan cars amir..car.s it very expensive then kor...car.s and in iraq didn.t succasful ...becouse it bad car.:-) when ever in iraq peaple love korean cars and japan cars and Garman.s cars .and hated the bad badly amrican fat ass car.s :-)
i have to agree... the dash and steering wheel material, well... it just smacks of cheap... and the design... just a lil rear end for my 21K please... i think i'd choose a chrysler 200 over this any day... --Mike
***** Literally!!?? Twice The Room In The Rear!!!??? Well... You must've been test drivin one of those Bentley Rolls version Sonatas... because the ones that the rest of us can buy show a rear seat shoulder room of 56.7 for the 200, and 56.5 for the Sonata... and Leg Room is even less in the Sonata... 35.6 vs 37.6 for the 200... i dunno... if i could find one of those twice as large Sonatas that you were testing, i might buy one... but until that happens... i'm still choosin the Chrysler 200...
I like what they've done with the engineering, but I think it's ugly inside and out. It's as if they took a Ford and tried to make an ugly model. As an owner of a 2012 Sonata, I can say I'm disappointed in the look of the 2015.
golfmaniac007 That's a subjective argument. I could infer from your comment that you like the redesign, so my conclusion might be that you have bad taste. To be more succinct, the redesign is too conservative for my tastes. It takes no chances. The only redeeming qualities in it's favor are the engineering improvements. I won't say it's bad design, just a different design aesthetic than I was hoping for.
ericj305 Awesome! We'll pass your comments on the Hyundai. One needs a lot of money to always have the latest and greatest. This is where leasing makes a lot of sense.
ericj305 Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Are you projecting? I don't care. Others may love the look of the redesign, and that's fine. I do not, for reasons I've already stated. I thoroughly love my 2012 and plan to hang on to it for another 5 years at least (I had my last car for 230k and 12 years). As an aside, I didn't care for the 2013 (which is the same design), supposedly with better interior materials (always a plus), but the panoramic sunroof became a $3k option on the limited, so I lucked out. Leasing has never made a lot of sense for me because I drive a lot, and could never make the numbers work. I don't judge, whatever works for you, I say rock it, and fuck what people think!
Just bought one last week, amazing car for the price, I was a Jap car, GM fan boy, even had BMW 3 series in the past... I used to be on of many ignorant haters. Now I am a believer.
I love my 2015 Hyundai Sonata Limited...........nothing bad to say about this vehicle.
Hey thank's 4r making this video . The Car and the background scene was just too gud .
I like Ron. He does a darn good job.

The 2015 is nice except the rear which looks like an optima. Hyundais are also getting way to expensive as are most cars
Agree. Ron is a good reviewer.
Why have they new refreshed the genesis coupe that they ruined in 2013
my parents will be getting a brand-new 2015 fully loaded sonata and then we can compare because I'll be getting their 2011 Hyundai sonata
Sorry it was raining during the shoot. June to about October is the wet season here. Regarding the car, I like this sleeker design better than the previous generation Sonata. That one, at least to me, was a bit TOO overdone. At least it aged reasonably well.

very few automaker needs to cut power by that much to improve fuel economy. that shows Hyundai lacks far behind others in engineering...
They didn't cut it for fuel economy. They did it to provide more power at low end torque. They wanted to access the speed during daily driving.
Goddamn I cannot stand this guy. The car's ok but sweet jesus he sucks.
I couldn't agree with you more!
I still don't trust Korean cars. They are just cheap imitations of more expensive and better ones from German and Japan.
Hyundai has come a long way. They really improved their quality and design.
