I use to think Honda was the one car company that had it all, great style, reliability and great prices not any more. Hyundai has really won me over with this model. Very happy with my new Hyundai Sonata!
That light is ambient lighting. Many new cars have that now. It is actually designed to reduce fatigue at night, so I was told. Also, it is supposed to illuminate your console. There should be a way to shut it off. The Honda Accord has that same light.
lawd people stop completing I had that in my 2006 Toyota Rav 4 Sport lmfao it's nothing new smdh accept it was placed within top of my middle console instead of being overhead. My Dodge has this feature as way but it's more of a baby blue or lighter bright blue. also I have Illuminating door lights and cup holder trim lighting I don't find this a problem for me at all.....
+Tony Lester The point of that tiny light is to give you, well, a little gentle light on the center console at night. That way, especially with the black interior, you don't think you're placing your latte in the cup holder but you miss and it ends up on the floor. Helps you find change or your glasses or whatever you may have stored in the center console without you having to flip on the main interior light. I can't imagine how it distracts you when you drive--it's way outside my peripheral vision. Are you sitting very very very far back? I've never seen that double-side mirror thing in any of the models I see here (U.S.). Don't think I'd like it either, so I agree that's probably annoying. But I have a Turbo Sport 2.0 Limited...maybe those have different mirrors?
i got used to it, but it would be nice to atleast have the option to turn it off.. i use it way less then 24/7. At first because i wasnt used to it, it was a tad bit annoying, now its not so bad. Maybe the cool blue is supposed to calm you and prevent speeding?? idk, i deffinatly cruz in this car.
that 'light' you don't like and can't turn off,..it isn't just a hyundai sonata deal. we have a new hyundai, a chevrolet with as well as our old jag s. the led lights ours all the same shade of white or light blue so to be less intrusive. designed to be on all the time at night for safety. when you are driving at night and if for any reason whatsoever you or especially a passenger flips on a dome light, your pupils react to that increase in light instantly but take much longer to return to dark mode so to speak. in that amount of time your vision is impaired. these 'map' lights personally i only ever noticed right after purchased and quickly forgotten gone unnoticed, well until i saw this vid lol. i suppose for those who drive in urban areas where it really never gets dark, it isn't so much an issue but for us on more rural roads, especially in the mountains, it helps. just an fyi is all.

Nope. Not that I've seen. Small piece of tape could solve your problem tho.

I'd say if it truly bothers you. That console come out easily. You could find the power wire to it and snip it.
