      I am using similar approach (and some other items like L Theanine) L Tryptophan agrees with me better than 5HTP but Amino acid therapies are the way to go to help while getting off...Julia Ross' book the Mood Cure is fantastic a must read if you want to get off meds and really just if you want to feel better and stay away from the Dr.

    I took duloxetine for 2 years after diagnosis of fybromialgia and depression (every other desease has been cut off after many examinations). I was supposed to have this therapy for 6 months, as my original GP said. I am living abroad, and here only psychiatrists can prescribe such meds. Covid came and doctor suggested to keep duloxetine for more. Then, when I asked for suggestion regarding starting to decrease the dose, he made me go off 30 mg cold Turkey on December. I started to feel in a nightmare again with all the possible withdrawals, mentally and physically. Now I am starting a natural/homeopathic therapy prescribed by a valuable doctor in my city, who said that antidepressants and their being cut in a sudden put my body in a high acidosis, so I need to alcalinise it. I hope I will solve all of this.

    Thank you for this information. I have subscribed and will go to your web page to get more information on how to finish weaning off with as few withdrawal symptoms as possible. I currently am trying to get off Paxil. It has been very Hard... I've been on it for 24 years! I want to succeed and be done with this drug. • @alicewleemd
      @alicewleemd  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Paroxetine/Paxil affects the serotonin, norepinephrine reuptake pump and also the muscarinic receptors powerfully. It is one of the most difficult SSRIs to taper off, because it works on more than just the serotonin reuptake pump.

    Hi. I’ve been on Zoloft for about 7-8 years for anxiety. It’s been at 50 mgs for most of the time (25 for a few years). Lately I’ve been wanting to get off of it but I’m really really scared. I’m doing good at handling my anxiety now, but I’m scared it’s going to come back. I’m also scared about the withdrawal symptoms. What if I can’t handle it, and what if the symptoms cause my anxiety to flare up badly again and get really bad panic attacks? I want to be able to live my life without the meds, but the process to getting there is terrifying me. Even if I forget to take my pill for one day I find myself feeling super dizzy the whole day until I get my next dose. That leads me to believe that the whole process will be super rough. Also, will my personality change and will I act differently once I get off it?

Please help on how I can get rid of them🙏

    • @alicewleemd
      @alicewleemd  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not a good idea of wean off Cymbalta when it "stops working" because that just means that neurotransmitter levels are so low that the same medication has little effect on the system. You'll need to gradually go back up on your last antidepressant, even if it "didn't work" and start by building both serotonin (SeroPlus) and some helpful catecholamines (use D-phenylalanine 500 mg caps) before you try to lower very slowly. Otherwise, you can cause permanent damage to parts of your body that depend on your serotonin and catecholamine systems. I believe the whole process requires someone with integrative psychiatry expertise to help you through the process.

    • @alicewleemd

    First, thank you for this video! I especially found it helpful when you described the hyper sensitivity effect. You also mentioned that you can get very sick in about 3 month's time after lowering the dose (too fast); this has happened to me, and then it happened again at 6 months. Do you know why this happens, why are the symptoms so delayed? And how can I predict if these difficult symptoms are coming in 3-6 months, if at the beginning of the tapering I actually might feel a bit better?

    • @alicewleemd
      @alicewleemd  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      These are good questions. The short answer to your question is that many things are happening beneath your ability to notice at the symptom level. You might notice when you crash metabolically, but long before that (over three months?) the body has been frantically trying to support you.

    • @DrAnnBlakeTracy
      @DrAnnBlakeTracy ปีที่แล้ว

      The delay in the worst of the withdrawal is because these drugs accumulate at amazing amounts within the brain & are 98% protein binding. So they are being held in the system by complex proteins. Therefore the best diet during or after the use of antidepressants is a Vegan diet heavy in fresh fruit & veggies which have very simple proteins because you do not want those protein clumps (Lewy Bodies) to build up in the brain ending in the REM Sleep Disorder as it did for Robin Williams & ending in his death as he acted out his worst nightmare in a sleep state. You should also avoid anything that will increase serotonin, like 5HTP or St. John's Wort, because the drugs have inhibited your ability to metabolize serotonin. You have to work on rebuilding your ability to metabolize serotonin. I have been assisting those withdrawing from these drugs for 30+ years.

    • @alicewleemd
      @alicewleemd  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The withdrawal symptoms would be the underlying causes plus the neurotransmitter levels associated with Wellbutrin. With Wellbutrin, I often use D-phenylalanine 500 mg by Montiff or Dr.'s Best and SeroPlus by Pure Encapsulations to support its mix of receptors and neurotransmitters. However, it's tricky, so you should have a doctor follow you closely.

      I found getting off Wellbutrin XL quite easy and had no withdrawal symptoms. I went to a compounding pharmacy and dropped 10% every 6 weeks. The difficult one has been Effexor XR. Was on it for 15 years. Started at 75 mg, 10% drop every 6 weeks. Once I got to 45 mg, I started to get depressed. I can sleep up to 15 hours a day and have no motivation. I’m 75 years of age. I have started taking Hi-potency B vitamins and Omega 3. I will also add a mineral supplement to this. This has to be the worst antidepressant to get off. It’s been tough as I live alone. Hi Doctor, and thank you for your great information. I really need to ask you something. I have Generalized Anxiety, 2 years follow up with psychiatrist. I’m on Valdoxan(Agomelatine) 50mg/on now. It did helped me in reducing the physical symptom of my anxiety, but somehow it didn’t helped with my emotion and overthinking. So, I bought a probiotic (my family forced me to take supplement and the pharmacist convinced me that probiotic helps with anxiety). But, I’m not planning to stop my Valdoxan at all. Can I take both of them? Antidepressant+Probiotic? And how about Multivitamin? I want to cry cause I can’t wait until next appointment in 2 months and ask my doctor.. 😭😭😭
    Additional: I experience GERD and I don’t eat vegetables. 😔

      It depends on the quality of the probiotics and multivitamins. A good probiotic is quite safe in general. Perque Digesta Guard Forte 10 should be fine. Another helpful product I have used with good benefits for many patients is a liquid supplement called Ion Gut Health by Ionbiome.com. If you have problems with your GI system, a liquid supplement may be more easily absorbed: Brainchild Spectrum Support Minerals and Brainchild Spectrum Support II Vitamins Lemon Lime flavored. if you don't eat vegetables, then it may be helpful to have some smoothies that allow you to absorb nutrients more easily. Good luck.

    Hi doctor, ten years back i was prescribed inderal and citalopram for anxiety and heart palpitations. The first dose when i started i start feeling as if something at my lower left abdomen started constricting and i used to feel pulsation there. After two days i consulted the same psychiatrist and he said that it will be alright after some time. I discontinued treatment after one week and after that i started feeling that constriction as permanent there in lower left abdomen. My bowel started affecting as if they are coming from some constricted pipe and they are always flat. I alwys feel as obstruction while passing stool. i had my colonoscopy , cect , sonography everything and all are normal, tried many psychitric doctors but they just prescribe different ssri or snri. Life has been hell. Can u tell whether there has been some permanent damage in my abdomen or with nerves and I don't think i am having IBS.

      Hi Pawan, I'm sorry that you experienced such negative symptoms. SSRIs and SNRIs do have effects on the gastrointestinal tract. However, I will not be able to provide a medical opinion one way or the other to people who are not my patients and when I'm not fully aware of the whole psychiatric history. One approach that I hope may be of help to you is to see a naturopathic doctor who may be able to help you with your symptoms. Personally, I feel that naturopaths who work with a bioscan machine are especially good at diagnosing what the underlying problem might be.

      You have to find out whats the reason behind your depression or anxiety. It always stems from an underlying condition like; Low Iron, Low Vitamin D, low B12, Not enough healthy gut bacteria etc. As time passes and it gets worse your body may become deficient in whatever the problem maybe. Because Vitamin D and Iron play a huge role in the functioning of neurotransmitters like Serotonin, and Dopamine.

      It may be helpful to use a liquid form of Fluoxetine and gradually come down that way, making sure that you are building sufficient serotonin through supplements about two weeks in advance of the gradual withdrawal. Everyone is different, so I can't be more specific than that.

      Sean, get the liquid form prozep. I'm using this. If there is a pharmacist in the practice get hold of them, they may have more knowledge. It's easier to do small redictions with a syringe. I wish I had known about this in 2007 did own clunky taper and went mad. Not knowing it was withdrawal symptoms. As I went back on them I felt better after a while thinking I needed them long term and the withdrawal was my OCD coming back bad. It wasn't. Prozac will change your brain. Slow taper. CEPUK is a good general site. Inner compass initiative. At moment I reduce 0.1ml a week or 2 weeks etc... Put your foot down for this liquid, they may say just cut down one pill, day off, 1 pill, day etc... this is dangerous in my opinion. Unfortunately Dr don't know about exit strategies and the NICE guildelines (I think they're being changed) are too quick etc..

      @@seanneedham1019 Hi Sean, tnx for message. Good news with liquid. Is it prozep? 20mg is equal to 5ml. 1mg per month = 0.25ml on an oral syringe. Or did you mean 1ml per month? On a pill 20mg dosage a 10% reduction is 18mg.
      So the liquid equivalent is 0.5ml off 5ml = 4.5ml in the syringe.
      Reducing is so difficult as any feelings as you drop a dose makes u think it's the 'tapering' when it migth just be a bad day with circumstances. I think when you get lower the reduction might need to be smaller as my case. 0.1ml per 2 weeks (roughly). There's also the idea of 10% off the previous dose - ie. 10% 18mg is 1.8mg. Therefore 1.8mg off 18mg equals 16.2mg - However this could send you mad. But I think 10mg and below make the reductions smaller. But it depends on how u feel. Everyone's different. There seems to be some people who metabolise the drug differently therefore there taper is a breeze. I think it also depends on what u r doing. If u r busy and doing something u enjoy with good friends then the focus on yourself if different.

I feel that my serotonin is depleted because a lot of times I can barely calm myself down and it feels like I’m losing control of my body and extreme amounts of irritability. It’s also has gotten worse because my stomach is having a hard time digesting iron causing my ferritin too has been low “36” and I believe that has been increasing my anxiety and depression and mood changes. I’ve been taking Natural Calm Vitality Magnesium Glycinate but it only seems to make me sleepy without calming my nerves making me still feel restless. What are your suggestions. Yes, you can try using the SeroPlus. Try a low dose at first, like once capsule every other night. Then, if you tolerate it, try taking 1 capsule every night. I wouldn't take 2 capsules per night for very long while taking an SSRI without a doctor's regular care. Your serotonin levels can get too high over time.

      Alice W. Lee Oh ok. I recently ordered the Seroplus, but it won’t get here until the first week of October. Is there something I can do to mitigate the side effects while I’m waiting? I’m currently taking 15 mg CBD gummies every morning to help with the withdrawal anxiety but it usually wears off after I take my medication at 9pm at night which causes me to awake every 2 to 3 hours after midnight.
      And also when I get the Seroplus do I take it at the same time I take my Zoloft at night or at a different time?
      And thank you so much for your time and support. I look forward into using your services and recommendations this upcoming appointment i scheduled with you over the phone. Have a great move!

      Alice W. Lee another thing to note is that I’ve been on Sertraline/Zoloft for 10 years since I was 12. I had stopped the drug when I was 15 felt good for another 3 years and had a relapse when I was 18. A doctor had to put me back on Sertraline again because my anxiety got really bad. And now I’m 24. Every thing was fine until June hit. June July and August I kept Having a whole bunch of issues I didn’t know was related to the drug. Acid reflux, diarrhea, severe depression, poor sleep, stomach pains and flu like symptoms. Came to find out my Vitamin D was low at 22.1 and my Ferritin was 36. I got an iron infusion now my Ferritin is up to 125 and I’m still taking the Vitamin D3 pills everyday right along with probiotics by Smart Belly. But every time I take my medication now, Hours later I wake up back and forth. Tonight I couldn’t even go back to sleep after waking up at 2 am. I’m just restless, tired, but full of anxiety energy. I did an intense jog yesterday that may have something to do with the way I feel this morning. Just a wreck. I pray I will see change soon. I’m so broken

    Hello, I hope someone can please answer or comment if they went through similar things as im going thru.
    I have been tapering down paxil 30mg, I want to be off meds that i have been taking for over 10 years.
    2 days ago was my last pill of paxil. The withdrawal symptoms were somehow bearable at first while tapering down. Now its been 2 days meds free, I have none stop severe brain zaps, dizziness, weird eye movement accompanied by sensors disturbance in my head, I cant go out from the house, i constantly need assistance. Im so tired, muscle pain everywhere, crying spells, extreme anxiety and confusion As if im disoriented and disassociate from my entourage. I am ready to push through but did anyone get it and got better after ? I am not sure how long will i be able to handle this, please someone tell me they went thru this and it will go away in some time and i will be better. Do you recommend starting 5htp now ?

    I’m trying to come off 15 mg mirtazapine. Worst mistake of my life taking these and have never been so depressed and scared. I’ve started making my pills into a liquid so I can lower 10% a month accurately. I’ve tried cutting pills faster and have scarred myself emotionally. I’m afraid I will never feel like myself again, I haven’t felt good in two years. At time have lost the will to live. I was not like this before taking this drug so I keep reminding myself this is not me. I will try these supplements thank you. Where do I buy them?🙏

      Thank you a lot for reply.❤️❤️
      I am also on 15 mg!
      My story goes like this:
      I was on on mirtazapine for about 3 years I was first on 45 than gradually I went to 30, than to 15. I was on 15 for about nine months. I had no issues coming down from 45 to 15 none whatsoever. I was in 15 for about 9 months and back in August of 2021 I started tapering using water. I went from 15 to 0 in four months. Again, with no issues in those 4 months. I was fine for another 3 months after taper. Than in March I plummeted over night in extreme anxiety depression and insomnia. I went back to 15 mg of Mirtazapine thinking I went too fast.
      What are your main symptoms coming off this drug?
      How long it took you to come down to 1 mg?
      Thank you

    • @KurtRock3

      p de silva I took sertraline for about 2 months and I’m 4 days into tampering off. Was taking 50mg now I’m on 25mg. I don’t really notice any withdrawals atm. But I’m almost garunteed it’s gonna happen. If not when I’m tampering Atleast once I run out of my pills. I’m just trying to find the easiest way to get off of them with minimizing the withdrawal or at the least lowering the intensity of withdrawal. It was hell getting on them and I’m terrified of withdrawing from them. It’s just seeming that it’s doing more harm then good right now.

      p de silva alright what am I looking out for?

    • @alicewleemd
      @alicewleemd  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @p de silva I don't think of mental illness as exclusively a "mental" problem, but a metabolic one. It's an integration of environmental and biological factors. Damage can happen throughout the body, but over time, with the right supports, especially antioxidants and anti-inflammatories, the body can heal well over time. I would never assume that damage will be permanent. That kind of attitude is of no use to us as healers and as patients who want to recover naturally.
