When you start the engine, first press the start button without your foot on brake pedal for the lights to go off and fuel pomp on and then put your foot on brake and start button.

Doesn't matter, the car primes the fuel pump when you unlock it. And this isn't a new trick, it's been like this "forever", my 2006 Golf does this too.

what is the average consumption

Mine is 7,5l/100 kms. If you drive more dynamic, its around 8 or 9 l/100 kms. If you're in comfort mode (which is some kind of Eco mode), you can do 6,5l/100 kms

mine does 8.5L/100km, but i mostly drive in Sport mode
