Great guide, I haven't made a speed set in a few years, bear tartare was the food I used to use. It's also long overdue to have tuning to BFA raids to remove the mechanical roadblocks, enough players have asked for this by now.
Well, they just nerfed the heck out of the Longstrider Azerite power and the gear is still bugged where you can't pick the azerite powers on new azerite armor. Once again, good job Blizzard ...
Feel there should have been so accountability for updating info on this video in the description. I saw this video and created a Druid in remix with the intent of doing this guide, only to waste a ton of time farming some of the gear and go through hell figuring out quest lines because they’re not straight forward at all. Spent hours putting stuff together only to find this comment too late as I hadn’t got my HOA to 13 yet and gotten a nasty surprise instead. Really annoyed as I could have spent the time making gold instead.
Another solid alternative is using a hunter and speccing into trailblazer grants you 30% movement speed after not attacking for 3 seconds. Accompany that with the 8% movement speed increase you get with a cunning pet, you're only a few speed tertiary stat items away from moving as fast as a ground mount. Plus we have posthaste and cheetah (which resets after a raid boss kill). I had a speed set in BFA that when I popped cheetah I was faster than a flying mount, that was a great time for farming.
i have 4 hunters with speed sets only for farming old raids or dungeons.4% its not much but its nice to have if you are looking to save some time in a long run :)@@robertparker5827
A potential good augment video to this one would be talking specifically about the various trinkets that can really improve your clear speed on transmog runs. I am very much looking forward to this feature in the 11.0 pre-patch and have half-ass speed sets on a couple characters that I can improve on.
I just miss Agramar’s Stride on my Paladin!! Those boots did SO much to help my weekly disappointment at trying to get Invisible… i mean Invincible… during Legion
Genuine question, but why is Shaman never mentioned in these kind of speed-guides? Ghost Wolf has a permanent indoors 160% running speed, with spirit walk increasing that with another 60% for 8 seconds every 50 seconds. Wind rush totem gives 40% for 5 seconds. They can remove snares and prevent fear, sleeping and charming. Still get CC'd? Lightning shield will automatically kill of melee enemies. I threw some gold at getting a full set with the speed stat on them (it is very true that getting longstrider on mail characters is a pain since 2/3 pieces only drops from raids), and with a phial (cheapest) I'm at 218% running speed without pressing any buttons (and I'm not playing on a troll, so can add another 5% to that). Sure, Druids can swipe their way through a dungeon to kill mobs fast, but usually thunderstorm and sundering are more than enough for me to quickly clear even the biggest packs. I agree Druids have their advantages, but I feel like Shamans definitely deserve at least an honorable mention when it comes to speedrunning! :)
True. Rogue is also a good honorable mention as in stealth with talents they can move quickly as well, bonus points to being able to vanish if you accidentally pull too many mobs and don’t feel like downing them.
Because you have to swap out of ghost wolf to attack? Kind of defeats the purpose of running through fast and attacking when you can only do one at a time.
for DHs farming black temple: Vengeance is faster than havoc. Grab pursuit, felfire haste, internal struggle, and erratic felheart (2/2) all on the left side of the class tree (below chaos nova talents). Then grab meteroic stikes and agonizing flames. Have mastery be the stat you stack, you can even use mastery enchants and hissing runes to squeeze out a couple more percent. Make sure to leap and use immo aura on cd for max speed
When I was spamming alts through Ulduar for Mimiron's head, I timed all my alts with each run. This was a mount-only speed run, so I skipped all the unnecessary bosses and made sure to do them in a certain order to eliminate backtracking. This is what I found (also a note, this is without any of the extra gear and enchants in this vid): Nelf druid (no troll at the time I was running) with cat form and sprint could run through everything in 15 mins. At the time, druid was new to me and I didn't know about stampeding roar, so I'm sure that would shave off a minute or two. Next was my monk. Three speed boosts: Tiger's Lust, Roll x 2, Flying Serpent Kick. She could fly through in 17 mins. Only downside is you have to time when to use Flying Serpent Kick because you can't turn or stop. My main, a hunter, had trailblazer and aspect of the cheetah. You only get to use aspect of the cheetah when you kill a boss because the CD is so long that you're at the next boss before it can be used again. My hunter could make the whole run in 20 mins. Any of my other alts were just a slog to run, some only had a boost every couple a mins with no special bonus' and other yet had absolutely NO speed boost. Rogues could squeeze in between there somewhere, but it wasn't enough to really justify timing it.
I was so considerate to buy the Emerald Dream BOEs that dropped like crazy when 10.2 went live. Back then each piece cost like 200 gold. I'm sitting comfortably at around 205% speed on my druid for less than 15k spent :)
@@johnwarner4178 No but farmers already caught up on this, the ones with +speed are 10-100 times more expensive than regular pieces. If you go to your auction house just go straight to the bottom of the list (if sorted by least to most expensive) and you will find them.

Did Blizz quietly buff this enchant? Because I just put it on my DK's boots, which is an enchanter, and they're getting 10% speed buff on 276 leveling greens (they're 66 atm). The tooltip now says 320 is the cap. So perhaps the days of lvl48 and lvl50 boots is over? You can get more +Speed on DF gear than you can socket with the Fel Leather or those lvl50 boots in Legion that can proc a socket. edit: yeah, just tested this on my druid, which is a LW. I crafted up a pair of Pioneer's Leather Boots, which are ilvl319, and dirt cheap to craft. Put Minor Speed on them and in cat form I got 10% more speed going from barefoot to boots equipped, confirmed by Monkey speed addon. edit: Still have several slots to update and loads of upgrading, but after a couple days I'm 238.2% normal Cat, 243.2% Cat + Prowl after race changing from Kul Tiran to Nelf. And can do 199.7% in Bear. I'm capping out on Longstrider so now to get more gains I'm looking for more +Speed pieces for four or five slots without dropping below the Longstrider cap.
i already have 3 speed druids on 3 different realms EU with speed sets giving 335-345% normal in cat form they are expensive however if you can wait i suggest on reset and the day after sit your butt on the AH waiting and re-scanning for pieces constantly and some people put them on not over inflated i got a full set like this for less then 10k gold, also if you need sockets on items like i think its rings and wrists (cant remember exact) this week is the perfect week do 8 time walking and a full lfr clear on your toon opening 6 vault spots which will give you 6 tokens next week which you can buy 1 socket for from the guy next to the vault (i did this on 2 of my druids) also remember speed stats scale with your gear and the level of your toon besides azorite gear ie a lvl 50 piece of armor with lets say 20 speed (for example) is much worse on a lvl 60 same as a 60 piece on level 70 is pointless.
i do Speed Sets for all my characters, the added quickness is great for doing content, especially pulling those Vines when growing Seeds in the Emerald Dream, can farm a lot of Dewdrops.
Warrior is also quite good for farming since heroic leap every 30 seconds clears 40yards and gives a 3 second 70% additional speed buff. So each use gives you a few seconds of time saved while farming.
The only downside of heroic leap is sometimes you can't use it because of LOS issues, like if there are a lot of stairs or ledges. Some raids it's completely useless.
HEY youi are NOT weird; i did the esame thing with a pally. His first run he got 2 of those maddened bulwarks havent sold em but it was worth the effor to get my pally a speed set.

There is a mount call big slick. You get in weaven caverns. From the achievement big slick in the city. Ita mount you can mount in dungeons. For some reason the quest won't appear to some people. Maybe renowned gate?
you DO have to gain a little renown to unlock that area's quests, so it's possible. that being said it would not be hard to farm. just do the main campaign, save the tokens and take them where the Dreamscapes are happening, use the tokens when you have the +30% Rep buff.
Night Elf is superior. Dreamwalk can't be used in combat so if you missed that one Dark Iron Dwarf at the start of BRD and are stuck in combat you can just instantly end combat, Dreamwalk out, then Dreamwalk back to the entrance.
There are some times a different class will be useful for the raid your clearing. Demon hunter is good for their skips in ICC and BT. Hunter (or rogue) is good for Ulduar for the running straight to Flame Leviathan and FD trash. Also, Alliance has shorter RP in ICC waiting for Saurfang
im on my 3rd druid now making a speed set and the motherlode is deff the best of the 2 if your a druid you can just prowl all the way to the end boss nuke him down quick and hope your lucky kings rest takes deff more with more storytelling and after the first boss there is some waiting with mobs you encounter
I remember there being a DH speed set an expa or 2 ago - pretty sure it was a good deal faster, but I cant find it anymore, so it might have been ruined.
To anyone still watching this video - consider picking DH instead for you speed runner. Ability to jump over some doors and obstacles allows you to bypass entire sections of older dungeons and you have 2 charges, 2 rolls and a backflip. In many cases it can beat druid. Overall druid is still faster for longer run segments. Also, there is a variety of toys and consumables that allow you to move with ludicrous speed, strange that you never mention those.
I think this changed with the new patch . Farmed the azerite pieces on Heroic and the ilvl is 157 . Now the enchants for this azerite pieces cannot be applied on items with ilvl lower then 180 ..
Heroic/mythic difficulty actually give lower pieces than normal. For fun, here's why: BFA like other expansion content scales to your level up to a certain point. this scaling also applies to normal difficulty dungeons BUT not heroic or mythic. This is because while leveling you can queue up for the dungeon finder and you might end up in a BFA dungeon so it's going to scale up. So farm normals. Much easier and repeatable until you hit the instance lock.
I personally prefer Windwalker Monk for speed. Chi Torpedo gives you 30% move speed, stacking up to 2 with a 20 second cooldown (something like 50% average speed for 30 seconds every minute). You also get Tiger's Lust Brew (70% for 6 seconds) on 30 second cooldown and Flying Serpent Kick (400% for 1.5 seconds) on 25 second cooldown. Then, fheres the Windwalking passive for 10% speed. That's somewhere around 60% average, I think. Plus you can play Dark Iron for 4%.
personally I think Worgen is better while yes Nelf and Ztroll give you better consistent speed much of farming is not consistent you will find that you have to cross areas of no mobs from time to time where having a usable speed cd is better.
In War Within, will having a dedicated transmog runner on Horde side (trolls) still allow you to get all transmogs for all classes including Alliance side?
Ok, so a thing to know: there is currently a bug, that is not being fixed for who knows how long with rank 3 ripple in space azerite essence. Unlocking this essence on one chard does not unlock it on other chars on the same account. After posting a ticket and waiting for a response, for a few days mind You, the response was kind of like: yeeeeeh we are aware that there is an issue like that, but we can't provide any info if it's being looked into/fixed/worked on, bye. So yeh have fun trying to farm it only to be unable to buy it from M.O.T.H.E.R, hope You could mention THAT as well
i might be wrong, but could havoc dh potentially be faster with itemization? that may be a tall order, but if someone reeeeeeally wanted to optimize it may be better
not having onyx amulet, heart of azeroth, longstrider traits will be big reduction of movement speed if i have gear with speed stat, gems and enchants?
i'd argue that up to date Boots and the +Speed Enchant of Dragonflight is just as good and you wont be locked to 50 ilvl boots, which will likely be worth less in the squish coming Midnight.
I just tested this on my Druid and my normal boots I've got Plainsrunner's Breeze, which is 5%. Minor Speed is double this @ 10% but I don't see that lvl50 boots are a factor anymore, unless I'm missing something. Nothing that I could find in the patch notes but the tooltip everywhere, on Wowhead, and in game now states a normalized 10% like so many other expansion boot enchants that apparently do not stack with cat form, but also explicitly states the ilvl cap is now 320. So unless there's some kind of magic happening with those shadowlands gems forcing multiple old gear pieces to get a minimum of three sockets (if using lvl50 boots from Broken Shore) or being locked into lvl48 Fel Leather and just two low value older speed gems, I think the low ilvl boot days may be over.
@@UltimateGamerCC Will be interesting to see how this changes the ultimate results with higher level boots and secondary stats feeding the Azerite trait, but also trying the Shadowlands crafted boots with +speed and higher level secondary stats, and possibly a DF piece other than the crafted that could proc both a socket and +speed.
They may need a brush off. My speed set is now only marginally faster in pre-BFA. With 3 longstrider pieces, my speed stat is 12% now. I hope they un-nerf this aspect for old content.
Shoulders? Not rly no, year and half and then some I stopped counting all 3 plate chars always with a seal, I recently got mount shoulders nada. Same goes with EN Xavius shoulders took me over 7 months so yeah rng will fuck you up no matter what.

Technically not a speed set but.. what if you stack leech gear on a warlock and have Burning Rush turned on the whole run? Since you hit for millions in legacy content, isnt leech gonna heal as much? You'll never run out of gas.
How noticeable is a difference of 180% speed and say 210%? I play Paladins in my ALT Army and would like them to be quicker for sure but how quick is actually required? Pally's are slow for sure so I'm interested in just being quicker not lightning fast so I'm thinking that these speed sets are relative ie an improvement is good enough
I just paused and made a ztroll druid named Fartablaze. I am ready. I will say you could touch on what professions are best too. I think i will go for Enchanting and Skinning. Thick leathers still sell okay. And obviously the druid portal and back to reset dungeons faster is a bonus.
well let's take running a full instance for example, say that at base movement speed you can complete a full instance in 25 mins, with up to 255% Movement Speed you could do that same instance twice in the same time frame, so think of the LPS at a 200% increment.
You forgot that night elves also get 5% bonus speed while stealthed, so as long as you're stealthed (which you easily can be running from boss to boss), you're moving at +7%.
I prefer my hunter .. 155% speed with 1 potion only.. MY pet is virtually invincible and I can heal it.. I'm ranged so I can kill stuff around VERY easily.. And 1 more perk is the last skill on hunter tree ''Barrage'' insta kills mobs within 40 years continuously to every direction you face with very low cd. Disengage +45% speed and all the time available.. And cheetah.
BM hunter I feel is better then Druid, Trailblazer talent for 30% when not attacking, Pathfinding talent 6%, Cunning pet for 8%, Aspect of the Beast talent to improve cunning pet by about 4%, Aspect of the Cheetah, and disengage with Posthaste talent. I have been working on a speed set for years, currently my base move speed is 227% as a Goblin. My highest speed was at the end of Shadowlands with a base speed well over 235%. I can easily hit 357% with CDs and Engy belt enchant.
ill say rogues with certain specs/talents can just go zoom, same with hunters getting that trailblazer that one passive movement increase talent along with post haste, aspect of the cheetah and having a cunning pet makes hunters also able ot go really zoom
I was wondering this too, because if I'm not mistaken, Shamans get the 40% of Ghost Wolf, +20% from Spirit Wolf talent, + 10% from Winds of Al'Akir talent, + the 60% burst from Spirit Walk which can be on a 40 second cooldown from Go With the Flow. So that's a 70% passive speed boost and then 130% with Spirit Walk on a pretty short cooldown.
I finally got them about 6 months ago directly after they added the skip and then gave them away to everyone basically in timerunning, glad i wasted my fuckin time lol
well he says Normal is the way to go, they drop higher ilvl than Nyalotha. additionally WoWhead says the maximum bonus for Longstrider is 21%, so maybe Heart level affects the CHANCE of better Longstrider? could be some RNG BS involved.@@xMiNdWaRpx

BFA is very outdated, the gear from 10.1 that can give +Speed and the new Speed enchants trump those pieces, save for Helm and that's only cause there's no Helm enchant.

Another good thing to add is older engineer tinkers like nitro boosts and glider on the cloak. They don't clash with enchants so they're ideal!

I remember my hunter in BFA so fondly. Minimal effort and it was faster than druid. She was my go-to for old world farming and achievements.
If you make your hunter dark iron dwarf you get 4% more speed from [Dungeon Delver] passive

King's Rest is Heroic and Mythic only. The chest isn't high enough ilvl to enchant with speed. Motherlode is the way to go to farm it.
Btw, Tireless Pursuit Talent on Druid is busted.. if you constantly stance-swap, you'll get more movement speed, even in cat form.

I had this exact set and even farmed those azerite pieces but at some point in the past years I must have sold it cause my druid doesn't have a single piece of it anymore lol, oh well! time to start over :D

There is a mount call big slick. You get in weaven caverns. From the achievement big slick in the city. Ita mount you can mount in dungeons. For some reason the quest won't appear to some people. Maybe renowned gate?
you DO have to gain a little renown to unlock that area's quests, so it's possible. that being said it would not be hard to farm. just do the main campaign, save the tokens and take them where the Dreamscapes are happening, use the tokens when you have the +30% Rep buff.
Night Elf is superior. Dreamwalk can't be used in combat so if you missed that one Dark Iron Dwarf at the start of BRD and are stuck in combat you can just instantly end combat, Dreamwalk out, then Dreamwalk back to the entrance.

There are some times a different class will be useful for the raid your clearing. Demon hunter is good for their skips in ICC and BT. Hunter (or rogue) is good for Ulduar for the running straight to Flame Leviathan and FD trash. Also, Alliance has shorter RP in ICC waiting for Saurfang

im on my 3rd druid now making a speed set and the motherlode is deff the best of the 2 if your a druid you can just prowl all the way to the end boss nuke him down quick and hope your lucky kings rest takes deff more with more storytelling and after the first boss there is some waiting with mobs you encounter

To anyone still watching this video - consider picking DH instead for you speed runner. Ability to jump over some doors and obstacles allows you to bypass entire sections of older dungeons and you have 2 charges, 2 rolls and a backflip. In many cases it can beat druid. Overall druid is still faster for longer run segments. Also, there is a variety of toys and consumables that allow you to move with ludicrous speed, strange that you never mention those.

I think this changed with the new patch . Farmed the azerite pieces on Heroic and the ilvl is 157 . Now the enchants for this azerite pieces cannot be applied on items with ilvl lower then 180 ..
Mythic pieces are 159 ..
Heroic/mythic difficulty actually give lower pieces than normal. For fun, here's why:
BFA like other expansion content scales to your level up to a certain point. this scaling also applies to normal difficulty dungeons BUT not heroic or mythic. This is because while leveling you can queue up for the dungeon finder and you might end up in a BFA dungeon so it's going to scale up.
So farm normals. Much easier and repeatable until you hit the instance lock.
The movement speed on the boots doesn't stack with all the other boosts. It says it right in the tooltip.
Awesome video, but a heads up - I main evoker - there are no Azerite traits for evoker so cannot use plainstrider azerite pieces... tragic!

I personally prefer Windwalker Monk for speed. Chi Torpedo gives you 30% move speed, stacking up to 2 with a 20 second cooldown (something like 50% average speed for 30 seconds every minute). You also get Tiger's Lust Brew (70% for 6 seconds) on 30 second cooldown and Flying Serpent Kick (400% for 1.5 seconds) on 25 second cooldown. Then, fheres the Windwalking passive for 10% speed. That's somewhere around 60% average, I think. Plus you can play Dark Iron for 4%.
personally I think Worgen is better while yes Nelf and Ztroll give you better consistent speed much of farming is not consistent you will find that you have to cross areas of no mobs from time to time where having a usable speed cd is better.
Question: The enchant on boots says it doesnt stack wit other passives. Does it?
In War Within, will having a dedicated transmog runner on Horde side (trolls) still allow you to get all transmogs for all classes including Alliance side?
Ok, so a thing to know: there is currently a bug, that is not being fixed for who knows how long with rank 3 ripple in space azerite essence. Unlocking this essence on one chard does not unlock it on other chars on the same account. After posting a ticket and waiting for a response, for a few days mind You, the response was kind of like: yeeeeeh we are aware that there is an issue like that, but we can't provide any info if it's being looked into/fixed/worked on, bye. So yeh have fun trying to farm it only to be unable to buy it from M.O.T.H.E.R, hope You could mention THAT as well

i might be wrong, but could havoc dh potentially be faster with itemization? that may be a tall order, but if someone reeeeeeally wanted to optimize it may be better

What am I missing- Soul you say to put a DF enchant on the azerite chest. But that chest is like ilvl 65 and the min for the enchant is 160!

well actually no- on mythic , as of 10.2.5, this stuff only drops at 159 level, so cant use the DF enchant on it.
The heart of azeroth is inactive in certain area, does it means on the part related to this is deprecated ? Was it a patch from blizzard ?
i'd argue that up to date Boots and the +Speed Enchant of Dragonflight is just as good and you wont be locked to 50 ilvl boots, which will likely be worth less in the squish coming Midnight.
The speed is an actual speed modifier as opposed to just rating which has a diminishing return
I just tested this on my Druid and my normal boots I've got Plainsrunner's Breeze, which is 5%. Minor Speed is double this @ 10% but I don't see that lvl50 boots are a factor anymore, unless I'm missing something. Nothing that I could find in the patch notes but the tooltip everywhere, on Wowhead, and in game now states a normalized 10% like so many other expansion boot enchants that apparently do not stack with cat form, but also explicitly states the ilvl cap is now 320.
So unless there's some kind of magic happening with those shadowlands gems forcing multiple old gear pieces to get a minimum of three sockets (if using lvl50 boots from Broken Shore) or being locked into lvl48 Fel Leather and just two low value older speed gems, I think the low ilvl boot days may be over.

They may need a brush off. My speed set is now only marginally faster in pre-BFA. With 3 longstrider pieces, my speed stat is 12% now. I hope they un-nerf this aspect for old content.
3:30 is wrong. You need to bei lv 50 to pick up the Heart Questline. with a fresh new char is not possible
Shoulders? Not rly no, year and half and then some I stopped counting all 3 plate chars always with a seal, I recently got mount shoulders nada. Same goes with EN Xavius shoulders took me over 7 months so yeah rng will fuck you up no matter what.

Technically not a speed set but.. what if you stack leech gear on a warlock and have Burning Rush turned on the whole run? Since you hit for millions in legacy content, isnt leech gonna heal as much? You'll never run out of gas.
How noticeable is a difference of 180% speed and say 210%? I play Paladins in my ALT Army and would like them to be quicker for sure but how quick is actually required? Pally's are slow for sure so I'm interested in just being quicker not lightning fast so I'm thinking that these speed sets are relative ie an improvement is good enough
I just paused and made a ztroll druid named Fartablaze. I am ready. I will say you could touch on what professions are best too. I think i will go for Enchanting and Skinning. Thick leathers still sell okay. And obviously the druid portal and back to reset dungeons faster is a bonus.

now Im wondering what the difference in LPS (loot per second) is between a max speed set and a moderate speed set and no speed set.
well let's take running a full instance for example, say that at base movement speed you can complete a full instance in 25 mins, with up to 255% Movement Speed you could do that same instance twice in the same time frame, so think of the LPS at a 200% increment.

You forgot that night elves also get 5% bonus speed while stealthed, so as long as you're stealthed (which you easily can be running from boss to boss), you're moving at +7%.
I prefer my hunter .. 155% speed with 1 potion only..
MY pet is virtually invincible and I can heal it..
I'm ranged so I can kill stuff around VERY easily..
And 1 more perk is the last skill on hunter tree ''Barrage'' insta kills mobs within 40 years continuously to every direction you face with very low cd.
Disengage +45% speed and all the time available..
And cheetah.
And I jsut buy lvl 70 greens for a 440 ilvl speed 50 percent bonus ( not including any extras)

BM hunter I feel is better then Druid, Trailblazer talent for 30% when not attacking, Pathfinding talent 6%, Cunning pet for 8%, Aspect of the Beast talent to improve cunning pet by about 4%, Aspect of the Cheetah, and disengage with Posthaste talent. I have been working on a speed set for years, currently my base move speed is 227% as a Goblin. My highest speed was at the end of Shadowlands with a base speed well over 235%. I can easily hit 357% with CDs and Engy belt enchant.
tried hunter for a quick second but I'm like always attacking lol, and druid's tiger dash is a few seconds of like epic flight speed, pretty nuts

ill say rogues with certain specs/talents can just go zoom, same with hunters getting that trailblazer that one passive movement increase talent along with post haste, aspect of the cheetah and having a cunning pet makes hunters also able ot go really zoom

Love to solo legacy content on my shaman. I could see where Feral cat, with aoe cleave is pretty handy.
I was wondering this too, because if I'm not mistaken, Shamans get the 40% of Ghost Wolf, +20% from Spirit Wolf talent, + 10% from Winds of Al'Akir talent, + the 60% burst from Spirit Walk which can be on a 40 second cooldown from Go With the Flow. So that's a 70% passive speed boost and then 130% with Spirit Walk on a pretty short cooldown.

the max of the gear is affected by your Heart of Azeroth, as that piece can reach 200 at max.

well he says Normal is the way to go, they drop higher ilvl than Nyalotha. additionally WoWhead says the maximum bonus for Longstrider is 21%, so maybe Heart level affects the CHANCE of better Longstrider? could be some RNG BS involved.@@xMiNdWaRpx

You need to get azerite gear from normal difficulty dungeons, those scale to level 60 unlike higher difficulties

BFA is very outdated, the gear from 10.1 that can give +Speed and the new Speed enchants trump those pieces, save for Helm and that's only cause there's no Helm enchant.
