  • Climate Controls
This is the climate control panel for adjusting air flow, fan speed, and temperature inside the cabin.
This FAN SPEED CONTROL Dial regulates fan speed at various settings. Turn to the left for slower speed, to the right for higher speed. Turn to ZERO, to turn the system OFF.
If so equipped, press the A/C button to turn the air conditioning ON or OFF. The indicator light will illuminate when the AC is ON.
This is the TEMPERATURE CONTROL Dial on the right. Turn it to the left for cooler, or to the right for warmer air.
This is the AIR FLOW CONTROL Dial, which allows you to select air flow outlets. Refer to the pictograms for the various air flow combinations:
    • Air will flow from center and side vents
    • From center, side and foot vents
    • Mainly from foot vents
    • From the defroster and foot vents
    • and mainly from the defroster vents
Note: in hot or humid conditions, a visible mist may be seen coming from the vents. This does not indicate a malfunction.
Slide the AIR INTAKE Lever to the left position to allow fresh air from outside the vehicle into the cabin. Allowing outside air to enter the vehicle further improves defogging performance. Slide to the right to recirculate air inside the vehicle. This helps AC efficiency and helps block outside odors from entering the cabin. Keep in this position when using the air conditioning and the outside temperature is high, to achieve quick cooling.
To defrost or defog front and side Windows, slide the AIR INTAKE Lever to the left position. Then turn the AIR FLOW CONTROL dial to the defrost setting. Next, turn the TEMPERATURE CONTROL dial left or right to set the desired temperature. To set the defroster on high, turn the FAN SPEED dial all the way to the right. For windshield deicing, your temperature selector should be turned to maximum heat.
When either of the front windshield defroster modes is selected, the AC will automatically activate. This helps clear the windshield faster. In order to turn the AC OFF, turn the AIR FLOW CONTROL dial to a setting that does not include a defrost mode, then press the A/C button.
To defrost or defog the rear window, press the REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER button. The indicator light will illuminate. After defrosting, push to turn OFF. If not turned OFF manually, this feature will turn itself OFF in 15 minutes.

In South Africa they are called Nissan Tiida, if you change the battery your air conditioner switches off. To reset the air conditioner, what you do IN SOUTH AFRICA is turn the ignition on AND the fan and HOLD the air conditioner button IN until the light on the switch comes on. If the light doesn't come on, then run the engine and keep pressing the button and that should work. The garage wanted to charge me R4,500.00 for a control unit!

Hopefully they found a new manufacturer of these controls since 2009. They became all bubbled and horrible looking after a year on mine. Dealer will replace for $400 :(
