You’re welcome. I worked in Jo’burg for a few months in 2005 and always intended to go back to see Cape Town and the surrounding area. I didn’t think it would take me 18 years, but I’m glad I finally made it. I’m sure I’ll be back soon to see a bit more.
TH-cam channels Wheelie Good TV and Moto UK have some good info about linking helmet audio to the Action 4. We've still not achieved brilliant results yet and record our audio separately. Again, a beautiful ride on those unpaved tracks, through the gorge, looked stunning. Just wondered, were there areas you avoided riding in South Africa from a personal safety position?
I’ve ordered a couple more USB-C 3.5mm adapters so will keep trying. The ride was amazing. As for the safety thing, I probably should have been better prepared. I took tools, a tyre plug kit and a compressor. In hindsight, perhaps telling someone where I was going would have been a good idea. There wasn’t anywhere that I avoided but I was only staying in hotels in small towns and I never felt threatened. When I finished, I went map shopping so next time I will be better prepared.
I use Action 4 with shure mvl lav and Ugreen adapter. Seems a good option. I am considering to buy Rode lav as the shure seems very sensitive. Safe ride. Very good quality videos👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks. May I ask if that’s a setup that you can use in a helmet while riding? I’ve been trying to find a mic that has some noise cancelling that works at speeds up to 70 or 80mph. Since returning I’m trying a Sena 50k mic with the 2.5mm TR connector cut off and I’ve wired it directly into a 3.5mm TRRS to plug into an Anker adapter. I’ll give it a go this weekend.
Patched Bandit from Finland has a super video about mic adapter on DJI Action 4. Seems to work perfectly, without a "media mod". South Africa: stunning country! Never ridden a bike there, but done a some hiking. Drakens mountains! Your BMW seems to be the perfect bike for Swartberg pass and such. Are you visiting that caravelle copy from the old Portugese navigator? I was very impressed (being from Bavaria with not naval background). Enjoy your holidays, Günter/Nürnberg
Thanks, I'll look it up. The DJI Action 4 has a USB-C input, so I guess it's either a USB-C mic or some sort of adapter (but not a Media Mod). I think it needs a TRRS wired in a particular way to work. I've bought some spare Sena noise cancelling mics and will butcher a few TRRS cables to make something work. I'm sure it'll be fine. Probably 🤣
What a beautiful place. I now live in England but are originally from South Africa. Watching this series really puts a smile on my face. Thank you

Stunning. Very enjoyable watch.
Glad you enjoyed it
15:59 That's a nice setting. Nick
Aye. Shame I was still a bit far from the hotel!

Beautiful place to ride. Not rainy ol England. Cheers from the land of OZ.!
It is amazing. I can definitely recommend it for an early December escape.
