- Our very first #4x4 #adventure to Baviaanskloof in the #easterncape #southafrica #hiking #camping #outdoors #nature #biodiversity #natureadventure #outdooradventure
Our first stopover was in Prince Albert in the #karoo where setup #camp at Olienhof Cottages and Caravan Park. This quaint little town is at the foot of the Swartberg mountain range. We explored the beautiful town and had amazing #burgers and #beer at Karoo Bierstro (@karoobierstro) and great #hospitality
We did a challenging #hike at Bushman's Valley and then headed through the incredible Swartberg Pass to our next #destination #travel
There are various hiking #trails one can choose from. We did the yellow trail which has a rating of intermediate to difficult. The views are incredible
The following night was spent camping at Doringkloof Bush Camp which offers shady bush campsites with 220v power and clean ablution facilities After a good night's rest we explored the Baviaanskloof 4x4 trails and many river crossings to get to our next #campsite #bruintjieskraal
Bruintjieskraal campsite is situated in the scenic Grootrivier Poort - the entrance to the Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area in the Eastern Cape #southafricatourism
The Baviaanskloof, which means ‘valley of baboons’ is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with gorgeous mountain scenery, steep passes, amazing flora and wildlife
There is plenty to do in the area from hiking, 4x4 trails, waterfalls, #mountainbiking and #rockclimbing
We spent two nights camping and enjoyed #swimming in the river as the temperature in the day was 40 degrees Celsius
The weather was amazing for April which made for a very pleasant camping #experience
Our final night was in #wilderness Wilderness is a seaside town on the #gardenroute of the southern Cape in South Africa
The scenery of #forests #rivers and #mountains are absolutely breath-taking
We rented a #canoe from @eden_adventures paddled up the Touws River to and did the waterfall hike which is mostly on a boardwalk with an easy rating
Our day ended off with a delicious #pizza and #beer from Pomodoro a charming family #tratoria in the heart of the Wilderness Village
Unfortunately we had to get back to #capetownsouthafrica for work so only had six days to adventure this time but we will definitely be back to #explore the area more

This brought back memories we used to camp at Baviaans as kids and remember jumping off those same rocks.But the water was always clear I guess in the rainy season it gets muddy?
The water was very muddy but that did not stop up. We had great fun in the river.

Very risky to go through a long water crossing like that in a small AWD, and I imagine no winch etc...but great work. I will probably do that on my F800GS next time I am in SA, can't really justify a 4WD truck parked there as well. And definitely De Hel as well
We were very fortunate to have the great conditions we had and we made friends along the way. They were our guardian angels and really looked out for us. They gave us the confidence we needed to get through the more challenging areas. Definitely worth it! Enjoy doing it on your F800GS and safe travels!

Nice video guys👍You were extremely lucky to make it through Smitskraal in the Baviaanskloof Nature reserve with your Duster. It is mostly recommended that you do it only in a vehicle with high ground clearance and 4x4 preferably. Water levels when it rains can go up to 1 metre deep especially at Smitskraal. We did Baviaanskloof in December and this was the case. So you were very fortunate to have been able to pass through especially in the reserve with you vehicle. But what an awesome trip nonetheless!

We had an amazing trip and yes we were fortunate to make it through. Many people underestimate the #Renault #Duster #4x4 It has a ground clearance of 210mm and handled the terrain really well. We can’t wait for our next adventure! ✌🏼

Greetings : I have done Baviaans twice on a moto-sukkel; SUKKEL being the operative word when it comes to that long; alluvial rock-based river crossing ! Your video immediately reminded me of how many an endeavour has been undone at that exact point ! But what an experience; constantly surrounded by awesome natural beauty ! PS : As you have done the Swartberg Pass; do yourselves a favour and visit De Hell ! Yes; there are more than several challenging; spectacular Passes to enjoy in that EC / WP border-region; another being the Otto de Plessis Pass .... etc ✊️👊👊💥
We did the main route through in the middle of the night by mistake in a Mercedes convoy 😂 it was magnificent. Would love to do the routes you guys did. 👏🏻
