Ciao Mo Ziac: I'm afraid I don't know of any good schools in Manchester that teach Realism in the sense that we specialise in teaching it. Go on-line and watch Scott Waddell's webisodes (start with his Webisode 4, "Painting Form"). There are other great on-line instructors, too: David Kassan, Joshua LaRock, Casey Baugh, Michael Klein …. For landscape painting, watch Michael James Smith's plethora of free TH-cam instruction (he is the best for demonstrating how layering simple brushstrokes, wet over wet, results in an astonishingly realistic - Photorealist - result); also watch Stuart Davies for a more Romantic (i.e. emotional & expressive) landscape. I do have a Facebook page, although I haven't posted anything on it for a year or more - facebook.com/michaeljohn.angel.9?lst=100001597721502%3A100001597721502%3A1500462385 I've posted some instructional step-by-steps on my Facebook page, dating from August, 2017. Thank you Angel Academy Thank you Cesar for your amazing hard work and contribution to the art world.As an artist my self ,I was in shock when I visited some of contemporary art galerries.It felt like a insult to my intelligence.Seemed like a great dumbing down of society had occured recently.A artist work can move mountains.The quality of the art ,the brush strokes ,or pencil work shows through.The time spent on the work.The Masters showed their love of humanity ,not their disdain.Of course as an artist I do not believe in censorship.But to the young ones,with out the masters you would not exist.So always take off your hat In respect.As an artist you have to learn the fundamentals solid.🙏🇺🇸🎨

Thank you for this. I had an opportunity to study for two weeks with a teacher from the Angel Academy in Calgary. It was beyond my skills but I learned so much. If life were different, I’d have packed my things and moved to Florence and begged to be a student. Even if Mr. Angel threw me off the scaffold. Mr. Angel’s mastery is the bliss of devotion. Cesar you get me all pumped up to paint when I watch your vids. I'm surrounded by mostly fluid artists and abstract artists (they are all very popular) in the local art group here but I'll stay true to traditional methods of oil painting and since watching your tutorials I have seen great improvements. I have to focus on my color mixing now. I'm hoping that two of my paintings will be selected for the next juried art show. I'll find out on Friday.

I'm working now on my portfolio to apply in September to begin in spring trimester: these videos have been so helpful to show friends / family who don't understand WHY I would go around the world for something they think I could get at a community college.
Few study realism CAUSE we can't paint AS well as you guys. I love your ability, I'm getting better as a painter but doubt I'll ever be as good you guys.

Cesar Santos, I love your work and your youtube channel. As an artist myself, I always struggled with a question that I often fail to really have any master answer for me. Why do we still paint realism, when we have the incredible photography and even photoshop and other programs that can enhance photos in many possible forms? I gravitate towards paintings by the old masters, the impressionists. From the impressionist time one of my favorite works is done by John Singer Sargent... but soon thereafter photography became a thing, and before you knew it photography can perfectly represent a figure, a city, a seascape in total reality of the lens... even further came video, and with video not only could we see the person, city, or the sea, but we could also hear their voices... Picasso himself struggled with this, and eluded to abstraction since to him photography had replaced represental painting. How do you feel about the subject, perhaps it can be a future video of yours tackling this question from one artist to another... why do we still paint portraits? Is there still a market for it? Even harder to fathom is why paint scenes of a city or a beach, when one can buy a big photograph, frame it, and hang it for $100.00 instead of paying a master artist in the 1000s... I know there is a certain level of class and awe by a painting, but is there not more than that? Id love to hear your response :) Thank you for all you do, and perhaps one day we can collaborate and I can paint your portrait :) -Mark Alexander

Quick question, but do you have an example of works comparing the concept that you two are talking about around 10:30? Multi figure paintings without wholeness and paintings that do integrate the figures in their surroundings?
Thanks John. Thankfully, you helped destroy my career as a Toronto taxi driver and I've had to make a living as a painter ever since. Its been two decades and I don't know how people in Toronto have been able to get around without me. The consolation is that 3-500 of them now have a painting of mine on their wall and most importantly, I haven't had to live there in 2 decades. ☺️

Hi Michael, we have no age limit. Many modern-day ateliers and academies DO have an age limit (30? 25?), but, at Angel's, we don't. It's enough that the student is passionate about wanting to learn and will do the work.

However, feel free to love it - abstract art has next to nothing to do with what we do, just as scat-singing has almost nothing to do with pole vaulting.

Excellent Maestro Santos and Maestro Angel, Their is something I am confuse about is the Allegory and Conceptual painting. I din't know anything a bout conceptual painting since to me is just stuff trout all over a room (modern Art) an on an exhibition another artist criticism my paint calling it conceptual I try to don't get offend until today I heard Maestro Angel talking about it, the other will be allegory, is not allegory trying to describe something with the use of multiple objects or subjects, some type of surrealism?
