      Ok, guilty. You caught me. For whatever reason, playing (er, working) with this tractor is really enjoyable to me. I think the size is part of it. It looks like a toy, but then we can do REAL work with it.

    My JD dealer wouldn't sell me that narrow bucket for my 1025R for the very reason you just demonstrated. Sure am glad I didn't force the issue. I've never had to get off and clean out my bucket.

    Thanks, you've proven what I only suspected when I chose not to buy the backhoe with my 2320. I personally had no use for the backhoe and could see owning it would compel me to running electricity to various trees for lighting and power. I've had my tractor for 8 years. So by now there'd be enough electricity in the ground that snow wouldn't stick.

    • @TractorTimewithTim

      You're welcome....I guess?? I wonder if the new(er) 270 backhoe with simplified mounting would fit your tractor? It is made for the 2025R, so it probably would.

      +Tractor Time with Tim I financed a boat load of attachments with my purchase. So I was concerned with how much I was already spending and concentrating on getting the items I knew would be quick items to swap over. I did have the dealer install the power beyond kit. My post was in no way meant to harass you. Just if I had made the purchase of the 46BH I would have had to show the warden that we needed it. Hence my yard would look like an archeological dig site today. The most expensive attachment I purchased was W.R.Long 4 in 1 loader bucket. This is one expensive modification has been priceless to me. It picks up and moves 8' sections of 18" round trees, it will pick up 24' lengths while I lop off 8' sections. We burn an average of 4 cords of wood per winter. So mowing, processing firewood and driveway maintenance are the usual demands for me. Snow removal has been a big deal the past 8 years. The first winter we were hit with 3 record breaking 24" snow storms in 4 weeks. 700' driveway. Just because of that unusual winter I've never heard a negative comment about the purchase. So again, thanks for your videos. My kids are like your daughter and a blessing to have around and willing to be so helpful. They have more seat time than i do. Teaching the youngest now, 12 year old daughter, is already pretty good with the loader. VTY, Scott in Fredericksburg, VA

    Yall like your backhoe? Have considered the 260 backhoe but it is an expensive attachtment so ive been hesitant. any comment on the power and digging on that 260 backhoe?

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Greg, thanks for watching. Like everything, it depends on the situation. From my vantage point (suburbanite), I compare it to a shovel. If you are comparing to a Case 580, or even a mini excavator, your opinion will differ.
      I've been able to do some pretty amazing tasks with it. Things that I would have never tackled on my own without it.
      There is no way I could justify a mini-excavator etc. So, being able to attach this on the back of the tractor when necessary was the 'least unreasonable' option.
      I bought mine used for $2400. With the $1500 subframe assembly, I was still much less than the new price. Otherwise, I could not have got Christy's consent :-)
      Now that I have it, I'm thrilled. I've learned that the tractor is only as useful as the attachments you have for it.
      I hope that helps in your decision process.

  • @flick22601
    @flick22601 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    For all you suggesting using Pam. It doesn't work, don't even waste your time trying. A teflon lining in the bucket won't work either. The straight sides coupled with the narrow width virtually guarantees that the clogging will happen, there's just too much surface area in contact with the dirt. On narrow backhoe buckets with flared sides, they do better until you latch on to a stone which wedges itself in it. The problem on a small tractor like this is that if the sides were tapered, it wouldn't pick up much more than a shovelful of dirt. Best bet, a wider bucket.

    Hi Tim, This is my first winter on the farm so I'm trying to figure out the clothes you wear in the cold weather. What brand of clothes are you wearing and what do you think the temperature was that day?

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wear 'insulated coveralls'. The best in my opinion for men are Carhart Extreme Arctic. There are two ways to go with this. 1) full insulated coveralls which are all one piece. these are the warmest because they are one piece, but they are annoying in some situations.
      2) Insulated Bib Overalls (again Extreme Arctic) which you wear over your normal pants. Then, use an Extreme Arctic Coat. In this case, the coat is removable which makes it easier to make a quick trip inside, etc.
      I use option #1.
      My dad always says 'keep the top of your head warm, all of your body heat escapes through your head!' Well, I'm sure this is not entirely accurate, but I would say that a thinsulate stocking cap makes the whole body feel warmer. I've seen guys wear hats like this, then wear only a sweatshirt and normal pants because the hat keeps them warm.
      For the ladies, the insulated coverall of choice is 'bodycovers'. www.shopbodycovers.com/index.php They are made specifically for women. They fit Christy MUCH better than the Carhart brand.
      Hope this helps.

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      BTW, these coveralls I'm wearing in this video are NOT Carhart. they are lighterweight (still insulated) but not as stiff as carharts.
      I like them because I can move easier in them. The Carharts are best for extreme cold weather.
      I like to wear a hoodie under my coveralls when cold, so order coveralls which are 'too big' for you in the waist.
      ...but order them a bit 'too short' for you in the leg, because you don't want them dragging in the mud, and if using insulated boots like I have (LaCrosse Burly), then it is often good to tuck the coveralls in to avoid any contact with the mud. Looks a little odd, but hey, who cares!

      +ogbobbye Just a joke. Seemed like a fun 'twist' to our videos. They do not sponsor us (would be nice, wouldn't it?) Anyway, the Tee's and hats are "free after rebate". I started wearing them for "projects" years ago. Once they get greasy, torn, etc, I just throw them away and get another.
      The hoodies were $5 after rebate. So, again, quite a bargain.
      Honestly, I think WE sponsor THEM. We have spent many 10's of thousands of dollars at Menard's over the last several years.

      Ha! I suppose it is kind of a fantasy land here. If this is a 'moat', and Katriel is a princess, why can't the dirt be 'chocolate ice cream'? Sounds good to me!

    Tim, that is NOT a boulder. That is a pebble compared to REAL boulders out here in Oregon. lol

    The said "boulder" could be a flower bed decoration.

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Drew6709 yep. We already have one of those...and Christy doesn't care much for it, so I didn't even bring up the idea

      +Tractor Time with Tim Just don't say anything to my mom. She'd figure out a spot to put it at home. lol. I have bigger "boulders" than that one to move. I don't think my 40 hp tractor can move it. Come to Oregon and I'll give it to you. :)
