    One thing I learned from another SurRon rider is to turn the ignition on with the key after you’ve removed the battery. It discharges the capacitor. Not sure if it matters but now I obsessively do it every time lol!
    A better option to wd40 is silicon spray. Wd40 can melt some plastics. Cheers mate!

    • @motomachinezuk8786
      @motomachinezuk8786  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting i shall keep that in mind and add that to my list. I do use silicone spray but said wd as most people have some of that to hand. I know not good for chains didn't know it could melt some plastics. Cheers for some input 👌 I will remember that for future

    Thanks for useful vids - your commentary's cack me up too :)
    Ive only had mine since Dec so alot of wet riding and falls in puddles so keeping water out of the electrics st front of motor has been problematic, its ended a few early rides. Proper clean up and dry out with air line has resolved but wondered if you've found a good way to stopwater getting in.
    My last attempt of wrapping in a jiffy bag/ tie wraps each end seems to have been successful so far but been conciously avoiding deep puddles which masks if it doing the job. Any better ideas from you or anyone appreciated ? Submerged it the other day after ice broke under me but it survived !

      Hey mate cheers for watching and glad you enjoy some of the content.
      I've been in some wet areas and no problems so far. I got my electrics covered with inner tube and cable ties plus some of that electrical contact protector spray stuff. I hear they slacked a little on newer models so just needs going over plus yoy got the electric throttle so 1 extra point of concern.
      Hope this may offer ideas to help seal it bud

      @@motomachinezuk8786 Cheers - your system must work given you went up that shallow stream last summer no bother ! I'm sure a decent automotive electrician probably has a few tricks... roll on the summer. I enjoyed your vid at the enduro event at Devils pit so might check that out as Im Letchworth area so not that far from me. It'd be great to get a load of Sur's together for a blat there or MX practice track!

    1st hack: doesn't the hard plastic of the cable-tie scrap on the swing arm instead of the rubber (or metal) now? I'd probably eliminate that lowest cable-tie if'n I were you. 3rd hack: People from the UK are SO formal We don't even wear shoes at all here in California. Plus, you UK people all sound strangely British. Hack #10: I've thought about the theft issue, but figured at 50Kg, somebody that wants the bike will just pick it up & throw it in the car's back seat or boot (what we call the trunk). I reckon one would need a padlock & a length of stout chain or cable to attach it to something immobile. THANKS! These are some handy tips, but for #12 why *haven't* you sprayed your controller with WD-40?

    • @motomachinezuk8786
      @motomachinezuk8786  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For the cable tie I moved the zip bit so it was facing forwards not catching anything, yes still a chance it could scratch but elimates alot of risk compared to stock.
      Oh, no shoes as hot climate I get you, majority of people aren't that lucky, wish if was that nice here.
      Padlock I didn't explain well enough I know people get me wrong here thinking it's a security device, it's more of a better than nothing scenario for emergency just to stop it being taken without a tiny struggle atleast. I used the example of shop when I really mean doing the business in a Bush in the sticks and bike parked up. Chain if can carry while riding is best solution after a tracker. But still a handy tip in ways.
      Wd 40 answer is I'm weary of electrics getting moist was unsure if a good idea but a few others have mentioned it. Personally I use a silicone spray all over to give it a moisturise and that works good at repelling water and stopping mud from sticking so much.
      Thanks for feedback I hope I've answered ok.

    • @TheBsavage
      @TheBsavage 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@motomachinezuk8786 Your ideas are quite good, thoughtful, & clever. You show analytical & creative skills. I can relate because I've made a career out of combining those two personal attributes, so I like your approach.WD-40 is MEANT to be sprayed on electronics to keep the water out. That's what WD stands for: Water Displacement. It was initially engineered as a solution to spray on car wiring that had gotten wet. All the other stuff, lubrication & whatnot, are afterthoughts. Silicone, while completely different, shouldn't harm electrics either, although it's not specifically for electronics, more lubrication, which WD-40 wasn't designed to do. It can do it, kinda, but I have a whole collection of different lubricants, maybe 15 or 20, for different tasks. WD-40 is in the cabinet, but I try not to use it as a lubricant. Oh, & I was joking about the no-shoe thing. We wear shoes here. Not all the time, like not to bed or in the shower, or when playing in the surf of our stunning beaches (we are kinda lucky there. I've been to beaches all over, & while ours aren't the best in the world, they're still *really* good. Much better than Hawaii by 20X.), but we do generally wear them while out & about, ALTHOUGH there is a distinctly casual dress code here. It can sometimes be a little fascist because people will look at you funny & say things if you're "overdressed." I think it's dumb. If I want to wear a suit & tie it's my prerogative, but people talk behind my back when I do. I have a customer, a world renown online computer game maker (where you have an avatar in a virtual world & thousands, maybe millions, play together at the same time.) and the people at that company drive BMWs & Ferraris and wear flip-flop sandals, shorts, & t-shirts to work, & if you wear anything fancier than Khaki's & a polo shirt they'll tell you to either dress down or not show up for the next meeting. So, gentle California dress-code fascists. It's almost endearing. Cheers & keep the rubber side down!

      @@motomachinezuk8786 I ran across some tape in my garage called Rubber Mastic Tape. Not having any idea what it was for, I searched online, and BAM! It looks like one of its uses is protecting bicycle frames from chain "slap." I immediately thought of you and your creative use of a spare inner-tube (as if anyone has those lying about) to prevent frame dings from the Sur-Ron kick-stand The tape is maybe 1mm (?more?) thick, so it's not like electrical tape or duct tape, it's more substantial.
