It's completely packed with people, especially the narrows, and there isn't anywhere you can even go "near the narrows". The entire park is just 1 canyon and you can't walk out without a trail or a highway. You literally cannot get lost there.

Ii think it's a scam. She left without going to the hospital I've been dehydrated before it feels like your dying. And she just got fired from her job so a GoFundMe me would be the reason.i haven't ever heard of the story, thanks for sharing.
She was taken to an emergency room by her family, because the rangers who found her thought she is in pretty good shape and she doesen't need an ambulance. Strange is she and her relatives pretend she couldn't walk all those 12 days after hitting her head, but she walked from where she was found to the park entrance, without anny assistance, the rangers said.
I agree. The evidence points in that direction especially with the testimony of the guy who has been rescuing people there for over a decade. Probably the day after hatching the plot.
Fasting is a spiritual discipline that people do to connect with God or the creator. Going out into the wilderness might be an added thing to get away from the distractions in civilization. Doesn't sound smart to go far but i personally wouldnt call it suspicious.
Not bs at all if one is in that mindset paired with a mental illness episode. I am happy for you and everyone else who has no point of reference to understand in any form, what this was like for her and her family. May you never know🙏🏼
Oh geez I’d agree, but weird people such as “breathatrian” exist and apparently they live by breathing that’s their food haha crazy fucks out there shit man.
Her, her daughter, and her sister seem to be all in on this. She’s going camping and they keep repeating how she didn’t have enough supplies. Why didn’t she stop on the way and get some? She had her CC bc she used it to get in the park?🤔 Then they say the only reason they knew she was at the park is bc she used her CC. Seems like a planned lead bc they knew her CC would be checked immediately. Seems like on a late night road trip over that distance she would leave a trail of cc use. And why didn’t the sister tell them where she was? They had dinner conveniently making sure to reiterate she was fasting, that makes it less suspicious that she didn’t buy more supplies and why it was so easy to get lost or made her injuries worse. But she didn’t tell her sister where she was going? Then they over load of the feels by having the daughter speak out and give the sentiment story to connect the park emotionally to her and her moms relationship. People overlook the inconsistencies if ether a sentimental story on why she was out there. Then they don’t ever put her out there in front of the media. Write up a statement and thank all the people that helped save you at least. But the sister is the only one talking to the media. This way the daughter can still claim she wasnt in on it if they do get caught. Also the story won’t change much if the story is only being told by one person. It looks like a very well thought out scam by at least her and her sister but I think the daughter was in on it too. They made sure all bases were covered in their elaborate set up to keep suspicion low and then when she walked into the park and most likely walks right back out and they sister or daughter picked her up. Oh and leaving your phone at home and not turning around to go back and get it when your on a trip that far from home and planning to be in a national park in nothing but a hammock for 3-4 days Makes no sense. Yhe one thing that can ensure you some level of safety you leave at home. No cell phone pings for them to see. No find my phone now way for her to call for help. All very convenient or well planned out. Total scam and all for what? $12,000?!?
Agreed! They all thought they were going to hit the jackpot like the couple and homeless guy. I think originally they were going to have the go fund me a lot higher than 12k until the story started to crack.
Not everyone is attached to their cell phone and if she noticed that she didnt have it while crossing state lines would you turn around and waste gas or keep going .If people are stupid enough to support go fund me that on them also a portions goes to the company.
@@desertmoonlight2880 she’s not going to make it to the state line without realizing she didn’t have it and even if she didn’t want to go back, knowing she’s going to be camping a hiking in national park in a completely different state, she would have found a phone somewhere to use to call her daughter or sister to let them know she left her phone at home but and let them know where she was and when she should be back. That way if she doesn’t come back at that time they know somethings wrong. A scam or suicide are the only reasons a person wouldn’t do that.
I can relate to being severely dehydrated but by the 2nd and 3rd day I was so lethargic that I couldn't stay awake and had uncontrollable muscle cramping in my feet. It was horrible. I was in the hospital by day three or I wouldn't have survived. I don't understand how someone can survive 12 days without water. I could maybe see a couple days but not several. For me, that's what makes it hard to believe.
I’ve gone days without drinking any water so it’s definitely possible. Just depends on the persons pain tolerance for that sorta thing, but inevitably a person would die.
It’s technically possible but examples are very rare. I personally think she would have been much, much worse off or dead due to her physical state- she doesn’t appear to have much body fat or muscle. Or she would have something like dysentery from drinking random water sources. (Idk what disease I’m just thinking of a waterborne one as an example)
@@Panda-cute Yeah I’m pretty sure you were right with dysentery lol. But yeah I haven’t watched the whole video yet so I’m not much clued in on the actual story so far.
If her family did take to an emergency room afterwards, wouldn't there be records to verify? That would clear everything up if so... or if they can't produce them, there's the answer as well.
@@abbysapples1225 No...in the US we have the right to refuse medical treatment. But she didn't refuse; she was driven to a medical facility by her family. I had to do that once when I was younger and didn't have insurance to cover an expensive ambulance ride to the emergency room.
When healthcare is privatized, and first responders/ambulances are independent contractors, and there's no regulation on how much they can charge for their services, of course they wouldn't be escorted to a hospital unless they were willing and able to pay. Feel sorry for the people in legitimate emergencies who can't refuse. Medical bills are the leading cause of bankruptcies in the US. Even Joe Biden almost had to sell his family home to pay for his son's treatment for his brain tumor. Obama offered to pay for it. But he died before it got that far.
I too found that odd. Super dehydrated but can put up and get into a hammock, then suffer a head injury and decide to take down the hammock and move it to a new spot to put it up...why waste the precious energy?!
Am I the only one questioning why she still had a lump on her head after 12 days? Most swellings will go down within a matter of days unless there are bigger underlying causes such as a fractured skull. Nothing has been mentioned about fractures or brain swelling at all. Just something to ponder.
I wonder the same thing. If you've still got a lump after 12 days there's likely something going on in there. It's certainly enough to send you for medical assessment. Even without the lump, 12 days in the open, apparently without decent water seems a good reason for a trip to the hospital.
This narrator has "forensic files" vibes. Love it! All of the narrators on this channel have great clear audiobook worthy voices haha. Great channel, great content, and talented voices.
No way she’s telling the truth. I recently was hospitalized for extreme dehydration due to a colon infection and I was in septic shock because of the dehydration. Same thing with Courtier where my kidney function was extremely low and the ER doctors immediately put me in ICU. I was there for three days and in a normal room for two. I had been drinking water thinking I was only ill. If she had been so dehydrated, there is no way in hell that she wouldn’t have been kept in the hospital for at least a day. I’ve learned first hand that extreme dehydration is something that requires immediate hospital care. I had like three bags of fluid hooked up to me almost immediately after I was in the ER. If she had been out there *that* long she would have needed medical attention immediately.
And the go fund me wording sounds weird, they’re confident she’s alive and would need treatments but yet they never mentioned if she’s not alive, they’ll still want to find her body? She had lunch with that sister, to establish the fasting as it’s pivotal to the disorientation trauma. If it’s true, she can hardly open her mouth at one stage, how did she get better and able to walk out of the park? Why is this channel not showing any photographs. Does anyone have a good link to the story? The go fund me was only 12,000...
When I think of all the missing people that truly need the help and search effort, money donated by people who may actually be financially struggling, and the missing whose families would give anything to find them, the thought of someone faking something like this is really infuriating.
I been on many search & rescue missions myself & go again always a Yearly Trained Volunteer. I don't get paid 1 penny. I seen some kids & people get very lucky that was lost. But if ever caught putting search & rescue members in danger & waste there personal money that wrong. You never go in woods unless people know where & what time expected back.
If she found pulling a scam. All that money need go to Red Cross until paid in full. As Vol. Myself they are my HERO'S. They have hot very good tasty food not junk & good drink's. Plus place to stay for people trying help. I don't think they know just how much help they do give us.
i think, if not a scam, she had severe body image issues and she did all of this to lose weight, hence the fasting and being ‘lost’ for 12 days so she could eat less etc
There are 3 main scenarios in my mind for this. Scenario #1: She did it for the attention. She seems to not be in it for the money as the family has offered full refunds for the GoFundMe page donations. If she was indeed in it for the money she would never have been found or came back. One thing I've never seen scammers do is go back to their normal lives and act like nothing has happened. They almost always abandon or "dispose of" their victims in wondering what just happened. Scammers also usually can't bring themselves to harm themselves to sell a scam. Scenario #2: It was genuine but someone didn't like the fact that she had a GoFundMe page and started highlighting discrepancies in her story. This is the least likely. A family member or law enforcement officer could have easily injected some doubt. Or that the GoFundMe was simply a family member just taking advantage of the situation. What could clear this up would be the medical report by the doctor who examined and treated the woman after the ordeal but no one seems to be looking for that, which I find odd. Scenario #3: She went hiking either to commit suicide but changed her mind or wanted to spark a religious experience. This would explain the fasting prior to the hike. It would've been exasperated if she found a separate water source during the 1st half of her time missing. Arsenic is a common toxin found in groundwater and had she come across a small spring could have drunk some and then suffered, and continues to suffer encephalopathy from said toxin.

Ok, so was she claiming to be near "the narrows"? Because that whole area is always full of people, unless it's on flood watch. If I remember correctly.
Can’t the people searching work out exactly where she is, from where they were searching in that area. If she survived without drinking from the river, where did she got her water? Can it be worked out where the other source of water is? How in her state she could worked the issue of the river pollutants but not able to shout out for help, especially if the area is so easily accessible. How was the hammock hang and how easy was it for the people to see it, when she finally got rescue. What’s the doctor’s scientific assessment of her condition, not according to her sister. Finally if she planned to be there for a few days, why did she arranged to be pick up 2 hours later? Is it for a point of reference to raise the alarm of her disappearance....ie nobody knows, phone left behind etc. Hmmm Edit; never mind... enough details in other threads, definitely bogus claim.
You are correct. I worked in Zion for years and every time I had to rescue someone with a broken ankle (literally once a week at least) there was never less than a dozen people there. You cannot get lost in Zion. It's just not possible. Every water source leads directly to town
Without pulling from resources outside this specific video: (1) She was supposedly doing some "free-spirited" traveling in a retro-fitted camper vehicle (or what the frick ever), but she had a roommate with the presence of mind to report her missing after two days? (2) The Sharpie Incident - because that should be the only tool you should ever take with you when you go hiking, right? (3) No water for almost two weeks, but she stayed near the river to have a water source nearby - - - UNTIL the cop guy says, whoa, that water is toxic, then her mouthpiece (aka: sister) claims, "Oh no, she didn't drink THAT water, she just kept it nearby..." (4) She planned to fast, disconnect, and read her Bible. Was her Bible found with her? (5) Adrenaline rush is why she wasn't immediately taken to hospital for treatment for severe dehydration? Ooooo-kay, didn't know adrenaline could all of a sudden mask severe and should-be-blatantly-obvious physically debilitating conditions. Go adrenaline! (6) GoFundMe to reimburse friends and family for search efforts, but not the general public, search teams, and so on? Pft.
Just a note. Leaving your house in the middle of the night to travel isn't unusual at all. Especially where I live, right outside DC. When I go on long road trips I often leave late at night to miss all the horrific daytime traffic. Surely I'm not the only person that does this. If I drive to Florida leaving at the right time can mean I miss the traffic near my house and in Atlanta, which saves hours of driving time.

@@pamelaliegh Well, you have free healthcare via taxes. Not really comparable. You technically already paid the bill. I think most people, seeing their loved one in the condition described, would just call EMS, rather than wait to make the drive themselves. I don't think the cost would be a factor.

If this weren't the US, where medical bills, especially first response care, are the leading cause of bankruptcies, she would have probably been sent straight to a mental hospital. She was obviously suffering a psychiatric breakdown. But because she was taken privately, her family had more control over what care she received and Doctor Patient Confidentiality. A court would have to get a strong warrant to know the state of her condition. But as it stands, because the cost of first response care can kill a person, even if they survive their medical emergency, Americans have full "liberty" to refuse care. Good luck trying to get your extortionist insurance to pay for it. Even if you take them to court, you might just get yourself lumped with legal fees on top of that medical debt. This is what free market healthcare and health insurance looks like. $1,000-$100,000+ emergency services bill, then what ever the hospital wants to charge you. I've heard of cases where small towns charged millions for this kind of situation, and got away with it.

For some weird reason, the thing that bothers me the most is the fact that she said she was so dehydrated she wasn't even able to call out. It doesn't matter how dehydrated you are, if you see your one chance of survival after days of terrible hunger, thirst and pain, your adrenaline is going to kick in and you're going to make some sort of noise, you're going to struggle and get their attention any way you can. A head injury and dehydration always warrants a trip to the hospital. The fact she wasn't transported to a medical facility immediately is highly suspicious to me. I don't believe a word that woman said.
If she was so dehydrated and desperate for water to the point she was severely disoriented and couldn't move or speak, and also suffering kidney failure on top of that, I find it hard to believe she'd be thinking, "I can't drink the water because of the toxins." I’d bet anything that Holly and her daughter deposited a cache of water during that joint trip to Zion several weeks previous.
I agree. The evidence points in that direction especially with the testimony of the guy who has been rescuing people there for over a decade. Probably the day after hatching the plot.
@R Wilson That is exactly what I was thinking 🤔
The dog would have found it. She was at home fasting and not washing herself. She came back to the park to be found.
🤔yea “fasting” before a long hike is always a good idea! Sounds like bs!!!
Sooo she may have been fasting for 12 days intentionally, to look exhausted as if she had been lost in Zion?
Fasting is a spiritual discipline that people do to connect with God or the creator. Going out into the wilderness might be an added thing to get away from the distractions in civilization. Doesn't sound smart to go far but i personally wouldnt call it suspicious.
Not bs at all if one is in that mindset paired with a mental illness episode. I am happy for you and everyone else who has no point of reference to understand in any form, what this was like for her and her family. May you never know🙏🏼
I fast while backpacking for 3days, not new to the people who are used to using fats as a source of fuel(ketone).

12 days without water and a person would be dead. Some people can live up to 30 days give or take without food but water? Not possible

If her family did take to an emergency room afterwards, wouldn't there be records to verify? That would clear everything up if so... or if they can't produce them, there's the answer as well.
If this happened in Australia I’m pretty sure she would immediately have to go to hospital whether she wanted to or not.
in Europe also
And the same here in the USA. However you can sign off. DId she do this?
@@abbysapples1225 No...in the US we have the right to refuse medical treatment. But she didn't refuse; she was driven to a medical facility by her family. I had to do that once when I was younger and didn't have insurance to cover an expensive ambulance ride to the emergency room.
It also doesn't cost us upwards of $1000 for an ambulance 😂
When healthcare is privatized, and first responders/ambulances are independent contractors, and there's no regulation on how much they can charge for their services, of course they wouldn't be escorted to a hospital unless they were willing and able to pay. Feel sorry for the people in legitimate emergencies who can't refuse. Medical bills are the leading cause of bankruptcies in the US. Even Joe Biden almost had to sell his family home to pay for his son's treatment for his brain tumor. Obama offered to pay for it. But he died before it got that far.

Who is missing 12 days & has a Go Fund Me account???? Give it BACK, YOU LIED.

Hope you are feeling better.

Wouldn't doubt it with the crazy year we've been living through.
🤣🤣🤣
i think, if not a scam, she had severe body image issues and she did all of this to lose weight, hence the fasting and being ‘lost’ for 12 days so she could eat less etc

How many people do you think have walked up to her in person and been like, "honey, you OK? You got dem crazy eyes."
Hmmm
Edit; never mind... enough details in other threads, definitely bogus claim.
You are correct. I worked in Zion for years and every time I had to rescue someone with a broken ankle (literally once a week at least) there was never less than a dozen people there. You cannot get lost in Zion. It's just not possible. Every water source leads directly to town
@@johns1625 exactly what I was thinking!!!! Thanks for clarifying!!!!!
Pft.
The cap of a Sharpie Marker makes for a fantastic emergency signaling whistle that requires minimal effort.

Here!!! Never heard of this case!

Hi EWU Fam, so the fasting isn't strange at all to me, she could of been on a ketosis diet and fasting is a huge part of it, she easily would of been okay not eating as her body went into a keto state, but you still need fluid, leaving at 12am isn't strange to me either as on road trips i often leave early hours of the morning as so my days completely full of adventure instead of wasting time driving later in the morning/daytime, its almost like a *I shouldn't be alive episode * often people on that show survived crazy situations, but then other parts were a little more odd i have to admit, . maybe it was honest and she's just extremely lucky to be alive, if not then thats one prank/hoax that went to far,. have an amazing week .
No. U are an idiot. She claims kidney failure and extreme dehydration but refused medical attention and WALKED OUT ON HER OWN TWO FEET. Idk if u know anything about dehydration or kidney failure but ai assure u shed be dead if her story had been true. U cannot walk w those 2 things. U cannot get up. U cannot refuse medical attention bc u are literally dying. Trust me, my family has dealt w this shit multiple times. Kidney failure is not something u can just put off while continuing your day. It puts you down.
Hard....
Also, you're seriously going to tell me she was sitting by a stream the entire time and never drank out of it? Even if she knew about the toxins, eventually she would have gotten so desperate that she would've drank some.
Not sure if she went missing but from those eyes it looks like someone upstairs went out to lunch and never back 🤪

😂🤣
And how does one have a conversation with her looking at them like that? Lol
🤣🤣🤣
The "bruises" were from getting boned by Sancho on the rocky River bank

"The nation celebrated when she was found." This was last year and this is the first time I'm hearing about this. Plus, why hasn't a medical professional(preferably the one the "treated" her) come forward about this? If it's this bad for them and it was true, you would think one would be willing to step forward to ease the tension. All the statements are from family members. Give me primary sources!
A head injury and dehydration always warrants a trip to the hospital. The fact she wasn't transported to a medical facility immediately is highly suspicious to me. I've had a couple of concussions and the most important thing I was told at the hospital is ALWAYS seek medical treatment when you've suffered a blow to the head. I don't believe a word that woman said.
If she was so dehydrated and desperate for water to the point she was severely disoriented and couldn't move or speak, and also suffering kidney failure on top of that, I find it hard to believe she'd be thinking, "I can't drink the water because of the toxins." If I was in that situation and in that bad of shape, I think I'd take my chances.
Welcome to Utah 😂 seems like everyone comes here to get "lost" honestly she would've died Zions is not very friendly. Beautiful yes. But not for the daytime normal run of the mill hike
So yes! We got lost in May, dirt biking on BLM at Dome Plateau. I grew up in Colorado so we know how to read maps etc.,, but in this case, gas was low, cell phones losing battery, and we had to call search and rescue about 10pm. Day was fun, getting lost sucked!
Congratulations on 1M too!
Sending love and blessings to all! ❤
Love your videos!! Love from England (UK) 😊💜
Me to!!im in Devon 🥰🇬🇧
You would hike with a hammock but not a water filter?
I live nearby, within an hours drive. It froze at LEAST 1 night. I’m very skeptical. We’re very helpful when someone goes missing but we aren’t stupid. Also Covid has hit us hard too.

Thanks for the info 👍
I've had a concussion, landed on concrete on the back of my head. Lasted half a day.
I legitimately thought that this was a real missing persons case until she was found. And then all of a sudden nothing made any sense especially what she has told people and her family has said. I'm an experienced hiker but I got lost😂scam
An experienced hiker who lost her job due to the pandemic decides to travel & fast before taking a hike & then cashes in on a lie. And it wasn't even a good lie. How many people could of used the time, energy & resources to help someone who REALLY NEEDS HELP..??????

She was fired for having an affair with the guy she was working for the wife found out another youtuber called that chapter and another one that does crime and mysteries says the same thing
@@TWISTEDSUNRISEKI Is this really true?
Thank you, EWU CREW for the update on this case.
Its sad that EVERYTHING can be a scam nowadays
“She has at least one child”? That sounds weird and who takes a hammock but not other needed supplies?
Aw I love this channel 💗
Smashing the videos out this week, thank u. I do love my EWU.👍🏼
Excellent channel and its real life events that are not stories
What a horrible way for them all to be treated after going through something traumatic. They should Sue that sheriff honestly. People die all the time heartbreakingly close to the trail. I hope she’s okay now
How were they treated?
It's like Gilligan's Island, a 3 hour tour, a 3 hour tour.
why is the fact she was found in the hammock, but claims she hit her head when she sat back in the hammock. then disoriented she found her way to the river where she stayed thinking she had a better chance of survival by a water source not a mentioned. Was she strong enough to re pack the hammock or simply able to find her way back to the hammock even though she was "disoriented"
While i agree that this is a very strange case and i don‘t believe her at all, i don‘t agree with them being harassed by people and having to switch numbers etc. and it‘s a perfect example for 2020 social media. If anything is weird or shady, people jump on it and go after people even if it doesn‘t personally affect them. You can be invested in it and discuss it , but sending them a million hateful messages or going as far as finding their numbers or address is so weird to me and isn‘t going to do anything.
Zion is so full of people in October that there is no way you are going to be lost for two weeks. Us Lodge employees thought that she may be dead in the bottom of a slot canyon somewhere.
For some reason that womans photo sends chills up and down my spine
I think she was suicidal . No one starts a fast before hiking. She decided to live. Not sure where she was if not in the park, but survival would have been hard after a fast. She needs to seek professional help.
Mania can cause these symptoms. Starting a trip suddenly, not eat. Classic mania symptoms.
her eyes are terrifying lol, seems like she faked the whole thing to me
I had a head injury 10 years ago. Slipped on our doggo's rope toy (you know the really long ones) in the dark. Slid right into a heavy mahogany door. I was disoriented and couldn't speak correctly. We drove to the ER because it was very close to our place. I had a concussion. I was there for 12 hours. I've also been so dehydrated that I started to black out. I had two saline bags. Absolutely no way she would have been able walk to a car. Based on these descriptions she should have been in critical condition. I don't know what's up. There should be more of an investigation due to the financial burden to the different entities.
