    I think the character of Kate is not exactly a reminder of his daughter but more like his former self. His naivety and the urge to do things "by the book" got himself and his family in trouble with the cartel (because he was a prosecutor/lawyer). Having to endure more pain than he could take, his morality snapped. The ruthlessness in his action makes me question my own morality too.

    When you rewatch the final dinner scene.
    He shoots the mother first, so she doesn't have to watch her children die.

    One little detail I would like to point out is that alejandro didn't become a freelance hitman, alejandro is colombian you can tell by the accent, the fact he is called medellín as his callsign, the story probably hints at the fact he joined the medellín cartel in order to fight the juarez cartel, after all he is a very well trained soldier more than an average hitman, thats where he got his training. Later on he got pick or captured by the americans

      I saw a comment on Reddit saying that Matt had trained Alejandro for this mission. He’s an SAD operator and part of their mission is to train new soldiers. Using a leap of logic I would guess that he found A and debriefed him on the mission and spent years preparing him. It makes sense since A is extremely proficient tactically.

    How did Alejandro Gillick get chosen by the CIA to be trained to such a high level and then allowed to be an independent contractor?

    • @jakeg3733
      @jakeg3733 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Because he was the perfect cat's paw. Built-in plausible deniability for the CIA. Cartel boss and family suddenly get taken out over dinner? It was revenge of the "grieving lawyer". Plus his aptitude and intelligence made him _able_ to do this. Judging from what we see in the film, he absolutely could have joined SF

      This also really bothers me although I haven't seen the sequels yet so maybe it's explained, I'm not even sure how long ago his family was murdered so how does a ~30-40 year old lawyer and tax accountant become the most accomplished and impressive special forces operative?!

    We (the USA) live in a peaceful bubble, really. Where the random evil happens, but the massive and calculated evil often found in the rest of the world is the stuff of movies, rather than in our streets.
    Likely that will one day change.

      So, If someone asked me to write a deleted scene that explains this part of the movie, I would say that it is very easy to train a man who is extremely motivated and is not afraid to die.
      Our US military transforms high school dropouts into Navy Seals and Army Rangers. So, maybe a flashback scene that shows Alejandro having basic gun skills, while he is a prosecutor in Colombia. Then, in the aftermath of his family's deaths, he gets onto the CIA's radar while he is out merking narco soldiers on his own time.
      Maybe it is Matt specifically, who sees the potential benefit of having a motivated killer with a common enemy, working toward a similar goal. I could see Matt being the one to recruit Alejandro and offer him advanced training and unlimited resources, in exchange for his expertise, language skills, and willingness to kill without hesitation.
      I think 3 or 4 years of training and working closely with a ruthless arm of US Intelligence could explain Alejandro's skill set. But at the end of the day, there is no substitute for enthusiasm.
      As a heavyweight boxer, Mike Tyson was outmatched in almost every way. He was shorter, lighter and gave up a ton of reach. But if you watch the progression of his career, it is obvious that he was at his best when he wasn't scared of getting hit. His raw talent and savage offense are what made him so scary. Teaching him head movement and footwork made him unstoppable. It's hard to articulate, but there is just something different about a man who has nothing to lose and sometimes savage brutality can be mistaken for skill.

    Kate was not casted correctly or realistically, she maybe weighs 80 pounds soaking wet. I enjoyed the movie otherwise but that flaw just completely throws is off for me. A strong male could of played her part, but I think the PC crap crawled into this. It's a shame it could of been a perfect movie.
