I buy mcintosh MC462 and C2700 amp and preamp instead of Accuphase E-800. Both cost around same price here, but Accuphase E-800 cost half price in Japan and south east asia. North american distributor and accuphase are clown with north american price strategy.

Mcintosh also 25% more expensive in japan and south east asia BUT accuphase is much higher build quality, so it make more sense as Japanese or south east asian audiophile to get accuphase. As north american (canadian) mcintosh offer far better value. I wish north american distributor for accuphase brand would put pressure on Accuphase to reduce prices a bit, IMO they are some of the best build quality of amps in the world, better than luxman, so price should be a bit higher, but not double price. Another example, E-800 class A integrated cost $21,000 USD but in Japan it retail 980,000 yen, which is a little over 9000 USD. So for japanese, amp only costs 9000.... more than double price here. Accuphase does very little marketing in north america market, they let the brand speak for itself, but the brand is over valued just IMO, you are welcome to disagree with me of course. Actually, E-800 has list pricing of about $6000 more than MC462 and C53/C2700 separates, but it is not quite the same comparasion since mcintosh is class AB, accuphase is class A and also has better build quality then the mcintosh.
