Probably the best video about the new Calculator app so far. Just wanted to see something like this. Saw everything I was interested in, including my speculations, like whether you can delete everything on the calculator screen if you hold down the backspace key. No one talked about it or showed it. And didn't even answer my question in the comments about it.
I’m just glad we can actually see the equation as we enter it instead of just seeing a number changing constantly and having to keep track of everything in your head
Really recommend the FREE Microsoft math solver! You can write multiple equations with variables (with pencil/fingers) and it will send you to a step by step solution and much more❤ really hope this information help you🩵
@@BrandonButchit seems like that should have been 😂implemented on day one of release of the app I mean super old androids already had that feature as well as calculator stock app on android tablets so yeah
Absolute garbage for people doing complex math imo. I’m trying to use it to study more efficiently for an upcoming math test but it can’t even do simple equations like 3x+5=11 don’t even get me started on systems of equations. As of now I’m just using my ti 84 along with using notes
No. All we got after 14 years was a bog standard calculator app with less functionality that a dozen App Store calculators. Can’t believe Apple took 14 years to give us this.
The calculator app upgrades and addition to iPad are the best things about 18 so far and hardly anyone is talking about it. I’m glad I’m not the only one geeking out on it 😂
Fantastic new upgrade and addition to the iPad. You didn’t mention it but was wondering if there are functions for fractions? Thanks for all your great videos, I always learn so much 👍🏻
The only reason it won't replace the retro HP-15 app that I bought for my iPad and iPhone, is that I'm used to using RPN notation. I'm just faster with it after all these years. But it's still a great improvement over the original. Thank you for doing this video.
Man, the only thing I want to know is if this thing can do systems of equations, higher degree equations or work with complex numbers. As a student it’d be a game changer if it did.
Regarding the "convert" option, when converting US dollars to, let's say, Canadian dollars, how does it know the exchange rate? Doesn't it change almost daily? Do perform an accurate, real time, money conversion, does your calculator/ipad have to be connected to a network?
What I don't like about the new Calculator app is that they've changed the way the keys respond. Previously, a click sounded when you touched the Calculator keys. But now, for some reason, they made it so that the click sounds when you release the keys. Because of this, the feeling of instant response and lightness is gone. I have no idea why they did that, and whether it was intentional.
The notes calc freature is really good. Im in an ios fan, never owned an iPhone, mostly stuck to stock google phoens. But have a secnd gen ipad pro and smart case. Never took to it for thr forst few years, but since ipad os come about ive all but shelved my windows laptop. Ill have to give apple credit here, that notes feature is excellent, id of killed for this in highschool and uni. Though it would mean youd never learn anything. So not really great for students, but great for everyone above schooling age.
Great video. Thanks for sharing. I can't figure out how you created your file "Math Notes" in the Notes app with the math icon. Could you give directions on that, please? Also, how do you separate the different problems with that straight line? Thank you so much
i'm so happy someone finally mentioned the scientific calculator in landscape on ios 17. I didn't have a use for it, but everyone talking about the new ios 18 calculator updates was like "We finally have a scientific calculator built in to the default calculator app" and I was just sitting here going how does nobody know this? I found out about it by mistake when using my phone at a weird angle while reading something and I was sure others had to have done something similar
This is the kind of innovation we want from technology. Whoever Apple team that was in charge of the math notes/calculator needs HUGE probs for their work. Definitely have them in charge of the Airpods Max future projects because just getting a Type-C port was unbelievable.
I’m old school and like doing maths using pen and paper, the result being I have lots of little bits of paper with lots of little scribbles laying around. I lose track of what was what and why. This might just replace all those little bit of paper…but apparently, for now, iPadOS18 likes to brick the newest M4 tablets so has been delayed whilst Apple tries to figure that out.
@@nabinpoudelnp That’s correct, x wasn’t a free variable, but a constant x = 12. It showed the value 924 when he clicked on the equal sign. I wondered why he didn’t notice that the graph wasn’t a 3rd degree polynomial.
As a physics student who's tried the app with some not too difficult but still decent equations it's still lacking. In my opinion it still finds it difficult to work with multiple variables simultaneously and its still worse than a normal scientific calculator. For example I did a calculation like g / (1 + √h/R)² and it struggled with that surprisingly. I'm not sure if it's just my calculator or if other people are having issues like this too. For basic calculations it's great but the way they advertised it in the keynote where they found projectile velocities I expected it to do more PS: the graph feature also donesnt with powers above 2 like x³ + 7y² + 4x + 9
It can do graphs but it can't actually solve equations or expressions. For all the hype from mathematically illiterate sois it's actually just a basic arithmetic calculator with some graphical features. Potentially useful for lists and stuff, but this is not Wolfram Alpha. It is completely and utterly useless for helping with anything beyond arithmetic.

I tried to use it to draw a circle, but i had to separate (x-a)^2+(y-b)^2=r^2 into two ‘y=‘ functions. Using handwriting, it worked, but using typing, only the positive part of y= worked. Could you please give some demo in this area? Also is it possible to achieve this circle graph in one function? Thanks
Im doing something wrong because my pencill just dont write good and always the ipad gets the numbers or the letter wrong I cant get the equations either
